Mm, that's right. Like, on TV programmes set in the future, they always talk in modern english, not future language. What's up with that? Also, I can name most of the parts of the language, but only because I take French. They don't teach it in English, we just read poetry. *shudders* It's just like how in other shows they speak English period and not something else. Like in Aladdin, they should've been speaking Arabic. XP It's just for the purpose of people being able to watch it, of course. Yeah, but they could at least put some made up slang in there.

Yeah, I do think that knowing about modern language is decreasing in mono-lingual (is that even a word?) countires at least. I learned almost more about english grammar through my spanish class! o.O

Language isn't dying as much as it's being murdered. But it'll survive as you need it in the business and professional world. What's sad is that some people turn in papers/reports using chatspeak, acronyms and smileys... What's sad is that I can't write a proper Malay essay without shortening some of the words, 'cause I'm so used to doing it in my Science drill papers. Crystallllllllll! *tacklehug*

Rider, how much longer will you be on for? ...... If you guessed it was Patrick who wanted to know, you're correct. And Kat, Patrick's mom is the only one in his family who uses chatspeak. [glow=red,2,300]I don't know. I'm sneaking on right now... No sign of my father anywhere. I'll stay on as long as I can. ^_^[/glow] Good for you. I have to turn in early tonight, after I got shipped into the clinic due to a bad case of dizziness which I got for sleeping at 3 AM on a school night because of a report.

Wow, did the 'bloids actually have an intelligent conversation? 0_o[/glow] .... sure... There was a book I read that was partly set in the future, and they put made up slang in it. But it was really obvious what it meant. Also, apparently in some working class parts of England with a high number of immigrants, teenagers are starting to speak a mixture of Bangladeshi and chav.

And Kat, Patrick's mom is the only one in his family who uses chatspeak. None of us use chatspeak. ^_^ Especially not me. *knows the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" quite a bit* I keep having to proofread my friends' stuff too because of that.

I've only finished my first two trial exams - which, since it's six papers, isn't so bad. My next nine or so subjects will be the week after next, but I didn't really feel like drawing today.

My mum works in a library at a community college, so she's learned to hate chatspeak as much as I do.[/glow]

I have the feeling that I won't survive college...Yanno what's scary? Since I went off computer I've been sleeping earlier. Like, 8pm earlier. ...of course, I had a Physics paper the next morning and had to wake up at 6 to study, but that's beside the point.
