You know, reading my textbook last night gave me a very different perspective on the forum and stuff. I was reading about problems with communication between different cultures...and I realized I was guilty as charged in some of these things...
...like being direct and straightforward when it comes to correction, which is a no-no in many Asian areas; you have to give people a chance to save face in their culture...
...I wonder if that's one of the reasons Llama boy hated me so much...

[glow=red,2,300]If you had given him an opportunity to save face, would he have taken it? Not something I know the answer to, but ponderable. *guilty as charged in that area too* Heh, my track record today has been not-good. I ought to just be locked up. XD And Tracy, *glomp* Don't be nervous or anything, 'kay?[/glow]

XD And Tracy, *glomp* Don't be nervous or anything, 'kay?[/glow] Well we didn't do anything wrong in the least, we were just using our own cultural guidelines.... What happened with Llama boy was an extreme case. But the different cultures are something to be aware of...perhaps I should write up a post about it in Off Topic. For the most part, though, everyone seems to have a good understanding here.

When I went to Amsterdam, nobody differenciated between class. You'd see a buisness man with a suit and briefcase riding to work on a rusting, 50 year old bicycle, identical to that of a lower class citizen who worked at McDonalds. EVERYONE rode the same bikes. Not only that, but apparently if you tried to impress a Dutch person with your material goods, and employment status, they wouldn't care... and would probably think you're an idiot.

Well of to my Business Communications class....
e.e I hate this class. She assigns a crapload of stuff.
Things due today: Complimenting Memo (I had to compliment three people and write about it in a memo format), Resume draft, review quizzes for chapters 1 and 3, reading chapter 4.
