Gay marrage shouldn't be an issue at all in my opinion.
Two people fall in love, they may want to get married. Thats undersatandable. So if the people are the same gender should it make any kind of difference? This is something I feel strongly about. There should be no band on gay marrage. Gays are people who happen to be the same gender, have fallen in love, and want to get married. They want the benifitts of marrage, tax deductions and the like. That makes sence. I mean, Canada allows it, maybe all the gays will move to Canada. Heck, I might move to Canada...
And thus is my rant on the topic. And please excuse any weird typos, I was typing this kinda fast. ^_^

So if they can't get married and they can't have premarital sex, then what? Swear a vow of celibacy just because you don't agree with their choices? Who said they couldn't have premarital sex? Their religion? Because, if so, that's another thing I don't understand: they contradict their religion by being homosexual in the first place, and yet they won't have premarital sex? Sorry if I'm completely off about what you said-- I've only sped-read the last page or so. ^^; EDIT: Though, really, it's none of anyone's business. But I still find it interesting.

Did you just say America is becoming a Christian country? That is very, very, big news to me, what with the fact that out of the already none too large amount of people who even say there is a God, very few of them believe in Jesus... And how many times do I need to say this? I. HAVE. NOTHING. AGAINST. HOMOSEXUALS. I disagree with them, I won't support them, but I LOATHE the man who would discrimante or hurt them. Didn't I already say that?! And can someone quote me a source saying where it proved gay parents don't affect a child in any way? I need to as well, so time for Google... And no, TAA, I know no gay people. I know no evolutionists, atheists, or even non-Christians really. I go to a Christian school, and I do my best to find out some of the facts about other views. The only people I know with truly different beliefs than mine are on this forum. And I'mnot saying homosexuals are some sort of strange people; they can very well be nice people. But I still say that's not an excuse. And sorry about bestiality if that was a mistake; but what about polygamy and all that? www.adoptions.com/aecgaylez.htmlwww.usatoday.com/life/lifestyle/2004-03-09-gay-parents_x.htmwww.rossde.com/editorials/childrenofgays.htmlwww.apa.org/pi/parent.htmlwww.bellaonline.com/articles/art22526.aspwww.fortwayne.com/mld/newssentinel/living/8457184.htm?template=contentModules/printstory.jsp"But I still say that's not an excuse." Hah! What nonsense! Why do you frown on love? Because it is not the sort of love you are used to? What is wrong about being in love? And you seem to think it's some sort of controllable aspect of a person's life. That is like saying heterosexuality is controllable! Do you wake up one day and decide you want to be heterosexual for a few months or maybe a year?

Simmer down and keep this civil here.
Maybe we should all just agree to disagree before it turns ugly?

Who said they couldn't have premarital sex? I agree with you on all counts. IDL is against premarital sex, and that is what I was addressing.

That is very, very, big news to me, what with the fact that out of the already none too large amount of people who even say there is a God, very few of them believe in Jesus... According to statistics, 90% percent of the people in this country believe in some type of God. And of them, 40% percent attend church services regularly. This, really, is none too shocking to me... We had, not too long ago, a discussion on polygamy. It was short-lived, as everyone agreed - polygamy is not a good thing (this included some of the most out-spoken pro-ponnents of gay marriage on this forum). Obviously, people who want gay marriage don't want polygamy.

Who are _you_ to decide the polygamy is wrong? Who are _you_ to deny the immense joy of taking part in many loving relationships and marriage? Who are _you_ to decide what's right and wrong for other people and impose _your_ view on them? Who are _you_ to butt into their own private and personal life? It's not harming you at all. It's not your business. So who are you to deny them this?

I don't know tons about polygamy and the situations and places where it's common (I know ancient Isrealites practiced it, but other than that, I draw a blank -- Africa?), but isn't it generally more of a forced thing? A man takes on many wives to do his housework and be used for intercourse, no? Mmm. I think I'll do a bit of research and then come back.

And even free-will polygamy, like in Mormon society or even what some girls and guys would like for today isn't allowed.

I wasn't arguing against polygamy - in fact, I don't believe I even posted on that thread. Which means, to date, I have never spoken, on record, about my views on such (so, how do you know that I don't support polygamy?) I was simply pointing out that the likelyhood of gay marriage leading to polygamy - something IDL spoke of earlier - was minimal, as most people (even, if not especially, those who believe in gay marriage) do not believe in polygamy. *walks out of the "corner" unharmed*

I do believe that I stated that I couldn't care less if people were polygimists, as long as it doesn't become a difficult tax problem. Maybe polygamy will become a hot issue with many proponents in the future, but it isn't now. There are many gays and lesbians looking for some sort of resolutions- and very few polygamists. I know easily over a dozen gays, lesbians and bi sexuals, cross dressers, bondage fetishists and almost any alternative lifestylers you can imagine- and I've never even *met* a proponent for polygamy. Most of my gay friends think polygamy is stupid... they probably wouldn't push this belief on others but, the people pushing for gay marriage and people pushing for polygamy are not the same people, and allowing one would not instantly make the other common.

I was simply pointing out that the likelyhood of gay marriage leading to polygamy - something IDL spoke of earlier - was minimal, as most people (even, if not especially, those who believe in gay marriage) do not believe in polygamy. *walks out of the "corner" unharmed* The point is that by allowing homosexual marriages, you're opening that door. And who cares if it's the people who want gay marriage or not. There are those who would want polygamous marriages. If you're going to allow one group to marry, how dare you deny it to the others is the point. It doesn't matter if those were your views or not. Simply by stating that, the line of reasoning lead to a corner. You can't allow one form of unaccepted marriage without allowing others, and the same line of reasoning everyone uses to push forth homosexual marriages. And everyone seems to be ignoring that. It wouldn't make the other common, no. It'd open the door for it. There's all ready been cases where people have pushed for this in the same states as those that supported homosexual marriages and were shot down by the courts. And for the most part, that post wasn't directed at you. I'm aiming it at those who would embrace and push for one of these non-traditional marriages while denying another form.

Oh, and I meant to say, even if it wasn't "instantly common", what's that matter? That would make them another minority, wouldn't it?

Most of the people I've met in real life have the 'You-can't-let-them-marry-they'll-take-over-the-whole-country' Type thing going on. A few gay people marrying isn't going to take down the whole deck of cards, neither is one or who big 'ol group marriages. Besides, argueing Gay marriage vs. Polygamy is sticky because while the Bible has some things to say against homosexuality, there is quite a bit of polygamy in there. (Help me if I'm wrong, I may have missed it- is there anything *against* polygamy in the Bible? There's a whole lot of guys with extra wives in there.)

That is something that a lot of people plan on asking God when they get a chance. XD Because it says clearly in places you should only have one wife/one husband. Yet there were many times where concubines and polygamy (Solomon, for one) are mentioned but not blasted. The most I can say is that God _never_ condoned it. He just let them make their mistakes while working with them, much the same way he continues to work with me despite my many many mistakes.
