Geez. Just watched a TV-show about it...
I agree with TEOW, to a certain degree. If embryos are specifically created for the research, then it's just immoral because it's life, and those.. err... embryos should have the right to live. If it's from the 'leftover' thing, I guess it's okay.
But really, the techonology just goes on and on while the human's try to follow. Sometimes they just make mistakes.
I think this is most of a moral issue, and for my part, the Adult Stem Cell research method sounds better.
As for donating, I'm not sure I want my body parts put into another person's body. I think I'd rather be killed and eaten... That's technically my moral and why I'm not a veggie. As for blood donation, that's OK to a healthy level. Bone marrow? Yes. Because my mom works with that kind of research.
Went a little bit off topic... Personally I think they should just go into the sick person's stem cells and change whatever is wrong instead of a transplant, which can go wrong in many ways. I know it sounds futuristic, but maybe in twenty years it will happen...

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead-- I'm doing a paper on Stem Cells and I remembered this debate so I thought I'd check it out. Stem cells don't just come from fetuses (fetusi?). You can also get them from adults, from bone marrow and fat. Yes, fat. Stem cells could be derived from the fat sucked from a person from liposuction to be used as a replacement tissue for Parkinson's disease, heart attacks/defects, bone defects, etc. The research with this is still in the very beginning stages and being tested, but it seems very promising. And the average person (even slender people) has enough fat to yield a good supply of cells for their own treatment. (I got all this from www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6116024)With stem cells for embryos, I'm torn. If they've done every possible thing to try to give the embryo to a woman to have it grow into a child and have failed, then I'm OK with using it for research instead of discarding it. What I'm not for is what has been happening-- Scientists creating embryos soley for research. That's not fair to the baby.
