I was trying to do my homework... When I heard the phone ring. Of course the cordless one is downstairs, so I rushed down. I picked up the phone that was hung up on the wall, and no one answered. I heard some weird talking in the background, and the cordless phone was sitting on the dinner table, and it was on.
So I picked it up, listened a bit, and found that some weird lady was talking. I'm thinking that it picked up a phonecall somewhere, so I pressed it off. And then it turned back on. I was scared so I called my dad o-O He told me to shut off the cordless phone thingy where it recharges.
That was freaky o-O I do believe I heard the lady say the word that rhymes with duck.

Plus, my sister was asleep. How she can sleep through things, I have no idea. Well, I must go back and do my homework...
But that was freaky. Very freaky. -shudders- I hope my mom gets home soon... She comes home 'round 5:30 (EST) and that's in about 6 minutes... I hate when phones pick up random signals T_T
EDIT: Yay... my sister's awake, I believe. Not unless I'm hearing things, because I hear the tv downstairs o-O

Weird... One time me and my friends had a walkie-talkie and we picked up a phone call. It was just two highschoolers telling each other how much they loved the other.

That happened with us once. Whenever we picked up the phone you should hear our neightbours talking...
Maye just be some messed up wires, or zombies are in your closet and are planning to jump out an eat your brains...

Maybe he has a cellphone? -shudders again- I'm sort of scared. I mean, my sister's still asleep (I can't confirm the tv thingy) and my parents aren't home. I'm 10, scared, and can't do anything except sit here and get cheered up by my online friends. I wish we all lived closer o-O

'Sokay, LDF!
Once, a friend and I had walkie-talkie things, and we were fooling around with them, sending out signals to everyone who happened to be on the channel. Then some old guy came on, saying, "Hello? I thought I heard something...anyone there?...get off the channel...." or something to that effect. It was quite scary, and we turned the walkie-talkies right off.

-gasps air- My mom's home. Hopefully this will be sorted out, or somewhat close to being sort out. I feel slightly happier, because I don't think that it will pick up a message from anywhere else... -wipes sweat off of forehead- I'm looking foreward to an ice storm tonight o-O That might mean no school, so I can get onto Neopets... and...

Yup. The word that rhymes with duck o-O I like ducks. Why do they have to rhyme with an... "evil" word? Ducks are fuzzy. And cute. And ducktastic n-n;

Drink water, Jessie. Sometimes at night I think I hear (or actually hear) footsteps when everyone's asleep.

^^ Heh, LDF, it's probably nothing. It sounds a lot like the phone in the band room:
I pick up the phone to call Mom. Select band had let out early, for whatever reason. I dial. In between rings...what is that? There are voices on the phone! I listen closely.
"And in other news, the Title IV controversy..." I can faintly hear; nearly everyone has gone home already, and the room is very quiet.
"You've reached ***** ******. I'm not at my desk right now, but I am in the building. Please leave your name, number, and a brief message, and I'll get back to you soon!" I blink. Mom's message had startled me.
"Hey, Mom, it's me. Band let out early. Come pick me up whenever you get this!" I say cheerfully, although I don't expect the message to reach her. Her answering machine or voice mail or whatever it's called keeps losing messages--and she never bothers to check it. I hang up.
"Mrs. ******? I think there's something wrong with your phone," I say, exiting the band office into the general band room. This phone has a cord, and I've never heard of a corded phone picking up other signals before, so naturally I'm a bit concerned.
Mrs. ****** laughs. "Yes, it picks up the radio. It's really odd, but there's nothing you can do about it."
I nod, relieved. At least the voices weren't just in my head--this time. I hurry off to go wait outside for Mom.

This reminds me of a Simpson's episode...Bart and Milhouse found that their baby moniter picked up cell phone conversations. Marge shooed them out, and then she started listening. Some of the conversations were very personal, and she took NOTES! Well, since Bart and MIlhouse wanted to play a trick (they are always being mischevious...) they took the other baby moniter and started making up a story that this one guy (Bart) was a prison escapee, and had come across a nice little neighborhood. Marge was listening to conversation, obviously, since it sounded so secret. Then Bart said: "Ooh, ***((I forgot the numbers)) Evergreen Terrace! This looks like a nice place...I'll just sneak in and kill whoever is inside!" Obviously, Marge is scared, so she grabs a club and waits at the door. Milhouse opens it, and then Marge starts whacking him! When she realizes what happened, she scolds them, but then they tell her she shouldn't be listening to phone conversations.
I know you weren't purposely listening to them, but everything reminds me of the Simpsons...
Yes, it is very "phreaky". I have never had anything like that happen to me, but still...that's scary!
