Are there any guidelines on love/romance? Are character crushes and infatuations and things allowed?

Yeah, many of the previous stories have these in them. But I was recently told that these things should not be in the stories. Sorry if I'm being a pest, but were you also told any reason as to why this is? I know a lot of us are doing our best to work within these rules, but it would help if we could understand the logic behind them. All that I can think of is that these things don't fit within the "official version" of what Neopia is like-- and if that's the case, okay, I can accept that-- but that alone just doesn't seem necessarily a sufficient reason to absolutely forbid these elements in stories that are supposed to be expressing individual, creative views about Neopia, so I've just been wondering for a while now if there's anything more to it. Sorry for the long rambling, and once again, I'm not trying to argue or be a pest. I'm just genuinely curious, especially since this affects so many of us.

Well, other than the reason: That's the way the creators want it, I think they want Neopia to be a fantasy world. Like, if you play the video game you'll notice that there is no Stock Market, sponsor shops, etc. I guess they don't want things in stories that don't exist in Neopia. I'm not sure if this really helps, but so far that's the best answer I have.

Ah, now, I'm just gonna put the short story I made (Jhudora's Secret) with the first part of a series with the same characters...

You say no radios, does that mean no radio stations?
I'll be a bit more precise: my next story is about a band and at one point, they get their music on a radio station. Would this be acceptable?

Or at least I do. Guess I shouldn't speak for everyone. xD

(i'm forgoing my dare for a bit, and I'll continue to do that on serious posts as to not look like an idiot)
Okay, Felicia I have a question. What if you just mentioned something like a TV discreetly. I mean, I'm really curious on why having no TVs and Radios is such an important matter. My main resoning behind this is because they are a really good way to keep up comunication in your story. Like how else would your character know the ongoings of the lost desert. A TV could be used to broadcast news as if it was the new features, Heh, I mean it's icon IS a tv like thing and it says 'news'
I am not trying to be arguementave though. I just don't get the purpose behind all of this like Tdyans. I'm sorry if I do sound argumentave, but I just want to know the reasoning behind all of this.
The thing is that with the type of stories I write, I hardly even have to worry about things like that. Most of my stories take place as if there isn't much comunication going around anyways, so I have no need of a TV or a radio, but so many other people have stories where comunication is a nesesity. I think that is sort of puts a curve over their writing talents.
I can completely see the reasoning for many of the rules, but personally some of them might be getting a bit too extreme.

Thank you for doing your best to explain and for taking the time to lay this out and discuss it with us-- hopefully it will cut down on some of the confusion that's been going around with these issues, and if no one else stickies it before I get home, I certainly will.

Maybe the communication can be solved by using the Neopian Times? O.o;

Hey, I don't make the rules, I just have to enforce them. You could, however, have communication by sending telegrams, pets reading the newspaper, or even messengers. Think 1700's technology.

Okay thanks. I really don't hold any grudge, but just wanted to make a point *sorry if I sounded rude or anything. really sorry* I understand that you don't make the rules about this, and that you're doing your best. For that. I comend you *bows* anyways, thanks for the tip^^

J-Lo *snicker*-- Maybe radio stations will be allowed even though radios aren't (or maybe it will be allowed to slip through one little time), but if not, are there any alternatives? Mera-- Well, Felicia did say that she might be able/willing to let something slide if it's only a very small part of a story. I am clinging to that for all it's worth. Mera brings up a good point, though, about the difficulty of finding ways to communicate/share info without technology. How *do* Neopians communicate? Is there any official version of how that works in Neopia that we could use? I guess we're all just going to have to do a lot of working together to figure out creative ways around problems that crop up because of this.
