How often does the TMGE rejection come after you've been held over? Rarely. I've never received it. But I'm fairly certain that it's possible. Not positive, though. A friend of mine just got it after having been held over for a couple weeks. I was really surprised. Which is why I inquired. ^^;

Which is why I inquired. ^^; It probably means that Droplet found something the second time reading it that she'd missed the first. Or maybe it really does mean that there were too many good entries and she couldn't publish it. I don't know. That stinks, though. I know most of us (myself included) take a held-over as a 99% chance that it'll get published.

It could go into a special issue that'll be soon-ish, so I told her she could try again closer to that issue if she wanted to. I really hope it gets in. I want to see her happy, you know? Plus, I don't think she'll keep trying if it doesn't. D:

Yes, I think you probably should. Generally if you haven't heard back in six weeks, chances are that it's been lost somewhere along the way. (And even if it hasn't, six weeks is longer than the vast majority of pieces are held over, so resubmitting in that case would offer a gentle reminder if the piece hasn't been lost - I know I've resubmitted pieces before that have been held over for a while, which have been accepted a couple of days afterwards)

heh the TMGE neomail is grating on my nerves . Gotten it twice now for my series. Have I just been spoiled (everything that I've gotten in has been held over on the first submission), or is there something I should change with my entry? Edit: it's also a series whereas the rest of them were short stories. does that make a different? tysm for any answers!

My series has been held over for over a week and my first comic has been held over for over two weeks with no reply...should I resubmit?

Like Komo said...at least a month would be worrying...4-5 weeks but otherwise you should just have patience. It's a lot of stuff being sent in...so just think about it...

And series take a lot longer to get into the NT than stories, articles or comics do.
I find that most stories, articles and comics get in within one to five weeks after being held over, and series can take a month or more. Assuming you don't get rejected after being held over, of course.

Is there a limit to the number of holdovers you can have at a time?
I have 4 currently, and was wondering if any future submissions would be rejected for this reason.

Wow, Moew, four is pretty impressive. X.x I have no idea - the most I've ever had is two. XD
Which brings me to my question - what's the average holdover time for a series at the moment? I know it can vary from piece to piece, but there's usually an 'average' amount of time. I haven't submitted a series in ages, and I was wondering what the wait is like. :3

I haven't sent a series in for a while, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a month or so between held over and acceptance - simply because there are so few new series starting each week compared to other categories, so they take longer to filter through.
However (and correct me if I'm wrong), I think, once a series is held over, it's highly unlikely to be rejected (because, I imagine, planning when series start would require a lot more forward thinking and planning than the other areas, so it's less likely that Droplet would overload herself with series). So you're probably safe. ^^
