I mean, like what are good topics and stuff like that. I really like the Neopian Times and I'd like to get a story published.

While originality is key, sometimes style can also be important. It's a balance.

Originality is definitely a plus--it's good to get in and also makes readers interested. However, unoriginal things have gotten in because of style--it's mostly the quality of the work.

In my experience, conflict makes for good inspiration. Two of my stories have been inspired by the Merridel-Darigan war and a third by the lupe/chia debate. Most importantly: write about something you care about, assuming of course that you're sentimental enough to care about ANYTHING in a pixelated world. (I am probably too sentimental for my own good, but hey! It helps my stories!)

Often, if it's an article, you want to both show your ideas in detail and in headlines - it makes things much easier for the reader.
EX: BLAH AND YADA ARE SYNYNOMS Blah and yada are synynoms for "babble" or ignored speach. Blah and yada can be interchanged, but usually in a conversation, the first person says blah, the second says yada in reply.

LOL! What's with you people and llamas? You hurt them more than you help (I remember someone tried to whack me with one . . . O.o)
Anyways, just brainstorm and maybe even do some research! I did lots when I sent in my Space Faerie story . . . unfortunately, it was no good =D

...(I remember someone tried to whack me with one . . . O.o) A- hem. If you can't find inspiration for a story, it's nice to look around the Neodeck or something to find a random neopets character somewhere. Or you can always write one of those nifty transcribed books. I'm planning on one myself.

Llamas. Llamas = award winning story Just a warning, just because it is wacky doesn't mean it is good. You actually to have decent writing skills, and if it is too wacky, the reader can get distracted. Just a warning.
