I'll just sign up for Darigan Citadel and pretend last year didn't happen ahaha. Gotta support my spiky buds. What happened last year was no team's fault, just like how it wasn't Kiko Lake's fault in 2020 that the calculations suddenly were changed. Though, while that was excusable as Kiko Lake did do better in the Finals (had they announced Finals results would be calculated as their own before the Finals happened no one would have had a problem), last year JS has no excuse to fall back on. It was just decided that Darigan Citadel jumped up to 1st place (I don't think they were even in 2nd place by raw data) and kicked Meridell to 3rd. DC, as well as everyone else, was just as confused as us MD players were. And still to do this day they've NEVER commented on it, not even a trying to push a narrative like the radically different positions were because they removed all the scores of players their system flagged as cheating (which there were many false positives of... which is maybe why they went silent as this just leads to one problem after another). At the very least they just announced those who were shadow banned last year are being given a "fresh start", hopefully meaning they've improved their shadow banning method so it doesn't trigger on an innocent player. *sigh*

I just hope that this is not a bad omen as the closure of the previous cup's Prize shop was only announced a few hours before the Pre-Season coverage began. They announced it on the 10th and repeated it on the 16th. Not to give them too much credit, but a full week feels pretty fair.

If I remember correctly, yes, they did announce it on the 10th, but there was no date announced initially. The announcement made on the 15 did catch quite a few people off guard.

Oh wow, I'm not sure I was expecting them to actually address the shadow bans. It's very brief, but it's better than nothing I suppose and at least gives those that were shadow banned a chance at making an impact again. Whether that improves any goodwill between them and affected players is another story, but either way not something I was expecting. And aw, guess they ran out of time trying to incorporate a Team Dacardia into this year's lineup. Has me wondering how many people would've signed up for that team had it been an option this time lol. I'm Terror Mountain yet again this year, and we'll see how much I actually play. At the very least, I can probably break my record of last year, which was playing a single game of Slushie Slinger and then nothing else the entire season xD

I feel like there is still a lot of general dissatisfaction with the way TNT handled last year's AC results. I remember around this time last year, the boards were a lot more active, and when the new AC items came out, they got modeled very quickly on DTI and Jellyneo. This year, I was surprised to be the first to model the Terror Mountain team popcorn considering it'd already been out for several hours by the time I got one. The other two popcorns released that day weren't modeled until the day after. As of now, you can see on Jellyneo that many models are still missing for the new AC items. I wish TNT had been more honest. I wish they'd said, "At the end of the 2022 Altador Cup, we tried to take action against cheating. However, our detection methods were inaccurate and ended up falsely implicating many legitimate players. The results that we calculated using these methods were also rushed and inaccurate, and for that we are sorry. This year, we will start with a fresh slate and improve our ways of detecting cheating within our community." Something like that, followed by concrete steps (like re-implementing captchas) would've been more professional imo. But... what's done is done, I guess. As players we can only choose whether to continue participating or not. Many have left; I'm especially sad about Neon leaving. You can read his interview with Maya here: www.neopets.com/~claga#neonI probably will still play for my personal prizes, but I'm sad that the team competition aspect of the event is essentially dead, and sadder still that TNT never showed any appreciation or respect for it.

Wait, I totally missed that Mirsha has a girlfriend??? I want to know about the girlfriend! Heck yah these neepers are gay *ahem* ANYWAYS it's good to know shadowbans are apparently being lifted this year. Gives me another shot to go past all-star and hopefully have enough for whatever 37 stamps get pumped out It's honestly a shame to me how badly cheating has affected the cup year after year.

I updated my userlookup for the Cup! :3 I thought about skipping it at first to show support for the protesters, but realized that I don't necessarily have to stop doing something I love (dressing my pets in seasonal customs) to express a stance on something else (wanting TNT to address last year's fiasco, and wanting more transparency and accountability from them in general). The party feels muted this year, but here's hoping we can still make some good memories while the site lasts.

A rather last minute announcement that the Altador Cup will officially begin in about seven hours from now! If you haven't signed up yet and want to, now would be the time to do so!

Yes, because the amount of time needed to reach All-Star is quite ridiculous. Not everyone has the time (or capacity) to grind on hours on end just to get the best prizes.

Definitely a welcome change! I almost wish it was 50% but hey, anything to reduce the grind time. I hope that means that ranks are also reduced to make the lower caps work. I'll poke around the games later today.
GLITCH HEADS UP It appears that the scores we sent day 1 last year affected our ability to submit this year. So if you maxed out any game day 1, you won't have any countable scores today (until they fix it).
