So as not to misrepresent things for anybody, an amendment to my previous post: One day later I'm feeling pretty lousy. xD; Arm is quite sore, have had headaches and a bit of nausea, and am pretty sure I have a fever. If you have a vaccine appointment it might be reasonable to be ready to take a couple days off work afterwards, if you can.

I think most side effects take a day to develop. Hang in there.

So I opted not to get the one on Wednesday, due to logistical difficulties, but I'll be getting mine this weekend. That'll still be a it of logistical difficulty, but... it's easier, and I just want it done. xD
Now, before I go on the designated day, I have one very important and crucial question. Do I wear a temporary tattoo on my arm (not at the expected injection site) for the entertainment of the vaccine provider?

I got my first dose of the vaccine today!! ;A; I've waited so long for this, it feels almost a little unreal still. xD I was impressed with how organized their system was set up, and everyone at the center was very clear, concise, and friendly. I also got a bright yellow souvenir button that says I got the vaccine, which I'm additionally pretty stoked about adding to my button collection. =D For now, my arm is simply sore and I'm a bit tired, so I'll probably sleep for a long time tonight and tomorrow, but hopefully it won't be too much worse this time. Anyway, yayyy. ;_; VACCINES, YOU ALL. I'm so glad people here on the forum are starting to get them. Stay healthy and safe, everyone! <3 (Side anecdote that I feel like you all might appreciate: Before we knew what I'd need to bring to my appointment to prove I was eligible, we asked my primary care doctor to write me a letter explaining my situation so I could show it at the vaccination center. (Later turned out I only needed my state ID.) Anyway, my doctor sent me a very good, formal sort of letter, just sorta like, "[Lizica] has X, Y, and Z, and any options available to expedite her vaccination process would be appreciated" and such. ...Except in the final concluding paragraph, he switched up the words and said that he hoped it could be extradited instead of expedited. Whoops. XD TAKE ME AWAY) Now, before I go on the designated day, I have one very important and crucial question. Do I wear a temporary tattoo on my arm (not at the expected injection site) for the entertainment of the vaccine provider? 1.) Yes. =DDD 2.) What kind of temporary tattoo to entertain them? =o

I'm glad for you all who finally got it. <3 Wear the badge with pride, and high five! Hope you fare the side effects well. But Lizica, if you must be extradited, let's hope you end up somewhere nice, at least. xD Now, before I go on the designated day, I have one very important and crucial question. What kind of temporary tattoo to entertain them? =o It'll be a bird, ideally one with its wings spread, for all the symbolism that it brings. <3 Either that or I could draw something with pen or write something but that won't nearly be so nice. Well, I could write a nice message, but I'd rather have one of my temporary tattoo birds.

Congratulations to everyone on their vaccinations! Go get that health juice! \o/ Over here, we're having...supply issues, and a lot of uncertainty. >> I think we're still going to get the most vulnerable, but nobody is sure when the rest of the population is getting it. So I am very thankful I got mine, albeit by mistake. Saves me anxiety. I'm glad for you all who finally got it. <3 Wear the badge with pride, and high five! Hope you fare the side effects well. Every day I hear about more and more people getting their vaccine (or at least their first dose), and that is GREAT. As I said in the Discord chat, I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to get their vaccine to do it because it not only benefits you, but also those around you.
But... I would be lying if I said it didn't make me kind of impatient. I helped my parents register for theirs in early February, as they're both over 60. It's now late March and we're still waiting for their turn.
I know my turn is still an eternity away, as I'm young and have no pre-existing conditions that I know of, so I'm not even waiting for mine yet... but I will feel SO much better when my parents finally get theirs. Please. I hope it's soon.

Hang in there.

I'm sorry it's so much more difficult where you are, Ginz. It's ridiculous that your parents are still waiting after that long. =<
It does make me kinda wonder about how the vaccination system is going in other countries, as well as supply inequities due to rich superpower nations being *grab-hands.* It sounds like the US is doing pretty well, all things considered (though some states are better than others), but only because we finally got an administration who's taking it all seriously, and is also trying to undo damage from before and so is really playing their hand to its fullest to appeal to the people. We're still being grab-hand, overall.
Reports from some other countries have worried me, because it just means it's going to keep proliferating there, and that's gonna spread. And... well, it's a complicated situation, and when it comes to distribution ethics, there's always someone who needs it who's gonna lose out. It still sucks. I don't know exactly what the distribution is like where you are, Ginz. But what you describe is disquieting, and your parents deserve better. And I hope things open up for them soon.

Ah, oops. The Tapatalk app doesn’t show me the display names of folks so I didn’t realize it was you, Ginz. I assumed US vaccination plan. I hope your parents can vaccinated soon.

To be fair, things aren't going too badly around here. Covid cases are the lowest they've been since the curve started going down, and lots of people have had gotten their vaccines already. I do think our government is trying and a lot of people are working hard to make it happen. We've just kinda haven't gotten lucky, in a way? In my state, they're doing it by age, but also by area. 11 out of 16 municipalities have started the vaccination process, we're just in one of the 5 that haven't. The vaccination process has been gradual, with 2 or 3 municipalities starting per week because otherwise there wouldn't have been enough vaccines for everyone. They've been importing more and more, but in the meantime, we have to wait. I'm just like... when is it our tuuuuurn, you know? Also, Geo 🇺🇦 🌻 , no worries at all. I appreciate it! *hugs*

Supplies can be finicky. I just saw today that Kansas should have gotten 100k J&J vaccines but we are only get 16k doses because there’s a manufacturing shortfall and thus, they aren’t releasing the full allocation to us. But since it’s a newer vaccine, I’m sure they are ironing things out.

But just like that, everyone 16+ is eligible for vaccines in my state (Kansas) on Monday. The neighboring state, Missouri, will move to that phase on April 6.
Just a quick note, only the Pfizer vaccine was tested in 16-17 year olds while Moderna and J&J’s age cutoff is 18+.

NJ is getting overrun with variant cases. We have higher numbers now than we ever did last spring and that's with us getting the 4th highest number of vaccines in the US right now and over 4 million people with their first dose and 17% of the populated fully vaccinated. I had the virus once before, really don't want to experience it a second time. Probably one of the sickest I've ever been in my life and I was lucky that it wasn't worse. It's a big cause for anxiety and folks are really fatigued with Covid and just don't care anymore. :/ It's frustrating. It really, really is.

Oof, that stinks. 4 million people is a lot, but NJ is far more populous than a Midwestern state. I hope they can deploy vaccines more quickly soon so that they can get through to all the phases and get shots in arms. Hopefully more J&J doses will help as they are single shots. Hang in there and stay safe.
