In another world connected to our own through portals in water, magic is real. It runs on crystals in the earth that are lethal to touch but are very good for powering magic, and robotic creatures called Constructs. Constructs are not looked upon favorably in this world, as they are a false form of life. In this world there are monsters, and many of them are people.
Roose, or number 500-23, as he was originally called, lives in a swamp. He used to be a bounty hunter in the anything-goes crime neighborhood of Nightport in the city of Endo, but he gave that life up. Now he collects cool rocks, talks to the family of birds that live in his head, and occasionally kills the organics that wander into his domain. You know. Normal hermit stuff.
His relatively peaceful retirement comes to a halt as Locke, his old friend, hires him for one last job. She says she is the chosen one who found a magic sword in a lake, and she's going to save the world from a great and terrible evil. Only problem is, there's another chosen one out there who claims the same. There can't be two chosen ones, that's just silly. So she needs him to take this imposter out. Roose agrees, figuring it's another chance to kill organics and get the revenge he so deserves. But the job doesn't go as planned.
It never does.
Now Roose is running wild, with either the true chosen one or a very good liar. And nobody is what they seem. And everybody seems to be lying. Now in this world of magic, mechs, and murder, he must figure out the truth before it's too late. The end of the world is coming. But the only question is, which world will it be? Ours, or theirs?

NANO TIME. I'm excited about this one. I was going to make another attempt at my first nano concept, since it is the ten year anniversary of that story, but I figured I gave it enough chances. So I'm doing an all-new story again, and it's what I always wanted to try: a fantasy/sci-fi hybrid with swords, robot, dragons, and maybe robot dragons? We'll see. I've already done some extensive worldbuilding, some basic character design, and made an attempt to plot - never quite get that plot part done in time. But as usual, I do better with freedom to move, so I'm hoping I make something good out of this. It's no huge fantasy epic, but it's unique and fun to play with. The title is a WIP, and came about because 'grisworld' is literally an anagram of 'swordgirls.' So if you like girls with swords fighting each other with lots of sexual tension, cool robots that range from old curmudgeons to sweet and innocent babies, and lots of fantasy races and creatures then this is the story for you. I hope people enjoy it, I'm trying to share my work more so I will be posting excerpts and worldbuilding notes and all that fun stuff as I go. To victory!
