Even though it's the sequel to a series published in 2013, I would still highly appreciate any feedback for my series, The Sisters of Pillar Grove.
It feels so dang good to finally get this story in the Neopian Times, after spending so long languishing in an unfinished state. (Let's just hope it doesn't take me another half a decade to finish the next series...)

Blueysicle So I just got to finishing not only the start of Sisters of Pillar Grove, but the Tree of Pillar Grove series today! Just in time for the NT to (hopefully) come out tomorrow with the next part ;D
I haven't been able to check out your Infinity series yet alas, so I'm sure there's some holes in knowledge still (especially the details surrounding Flicker's curse and anything Lumin and Lampryi related (although I do recall reading the short story about Lampryi first joining the guard, so she was at least familiar!)). Even still, everything so far in the Tree and Sisters of Pillar Grove has made enough sense, since everything in the past is explained well for the context of the present story. And hey, who knows, maybe a lot of the knowledge holes I think I have are actually supposed to be that way, seeing as there's a lot of mystery surrounding these characters from Flicker's perspective!
I also didn't realize that the last series ended on such a cliffhanger, I'm glad I get to read through it all now with the sequel coming out too haha!
Since this is the first part of the series, I'm mostly just left wondering right now what's to come. Main goal right now seems to be catch Halloy and Jacenty and find out who's the source of the tree's power, but I've got a feeling there'll be some more twists along the way. Namely, I'm curious what more we'll see of Chrome- I highly doubt this is the last we'll see of him, but I'm curious if he'll see the light or continue being stubborn in his suspicions of Flicker. Betrayal is no stranger to this story, so we'll see if Chrome's prejudices get the better of him or not.
I think the one thing I'm still trying to get up to speed on is the timeline of everything- The group has been at Pillar Grove for maybe two days now, but the condition of the mechanics kidnapped by Jacenty implies that the Zafara has been there for much longer. I remember it being mentioned before that he didn't actually need Flicker's navigation to get to the city, so is the implication basically that he's been in Pillar Grove for a while, and just hopped over to Flicker's place to get a scapegoat?

Twillie : My gosh, wow. So I suppose I'll start off by saying that I'm very grateful that you took the time to read The Tree of Pillar Grove in addition to the first part of this series. That means a lot, so thank you! I more or less wrote this arc of series to stand on its own from the rest of the Infinity saga, in a way. I wanted this to not be so heavily reliant on the main saga's continuity so that newcomers can jump in without needing to read four series and a short story first. However, the Pillar Grove arc will end up affecting the main saga in a few ways, so I suppose it's not entirely contained. To say much more would be a spoiler, so I'll just leave it at that. My number one fear with writing such a large saga is having the whole thing being inaccessible to newcomers, so I'm very glad to hear that everything is making sense for you. I do find myself having trouble writing recaps in my stories; I often struggle trying to strike a balance with them so that I'm neither leaving new readers completely lost nor bogging down the entire narrative with an info dump. That being said, I am more than happy to fill in any knowledge holes or answer any questions that you may have about either this arc or the saga at large. (Provided that the answer doesn't involve spoilers, of course.) Haha, I felt so guilty about that for the past six years! I honestly did not expect this series to take so long to complete! I originally intended get The Sisters of Pillar Grove done and ready to submit shortly after The Tree of Pillar Grove finished its run, so that the cliffhanger in the latter wouldn't be so painful. But then I hit a major bout of writer's block around the time that I realized that parts of the beginning and middle of The Sister's of Pillar Grove's first draft just weren't working for me, and... well, it just went all downhill from there. Mm, it might take a while, but you will eventually get the answer to that question. Yes, that's pretty much the gist of it. Though Jacenty's more or less been hanging around Halloy's laboratory for roughly the past year or so, rather than the city proper. I will admit that even I hadn't thought of the exact timeframes of the events leading up to the story, and just had a general idea of how long ago they happened. But if it might help you at all, I can clarify it a bit here: - Ten years ago: Jacenty escaped to the island on Moltara's surface to hide from the other surface-dwellers, where he spent the greater part of the next decade.
- About a year ago: Jacenty discovers the roots of Pillar Grove's tree and descends into the nearby tunnels to investigate. By shear luck, he comes across Halloy's abandoned laboratory on the way. There, he discovers the blueprints to Halloy's magnum opus: the giant robot Lyins seen near the end of The Tree of Pillar Grove. By proxy, he's able to learn a little bit more about Pillar Grove in general, particularly the power sources of the tree.
- Some months later: Jacenty makes up his mind to have the robot built and sneaks into Pillar Grove to kidnap mechanics to do just that.
- A few days before The Tree of Pillar Grove: Jacenty realizes that the kidnapped mechanics are unable to finish the robot and that he needs Halloy to personally complete it. He then sets out to the rest of Moltara to find a patsy he can use to break Halloy out of the dungeons. Eventually, he learns about Flicker through people talking about his actions in Infinity II, and decides to target him.
I hope that clears thing up a little! And thank you very much for the feedback!

Apologies for the double-post, but I do want to mention real quick that I did go and read the latest arc of your Blossoms comics, Twillie . I haven't read your other comics yet, so I did find myself wondering about the events that lead up to the current point in its plot. Once I get the chance, I do want to go and read through the whole series so that I'm up to date, and I'll try to put together a more comprehensive review and comment more on the story at that point. Comics aren't a medium that I'm accustomed to reviewing, so I'll try to do the best that I can.
For now, I do want to at least say that I enjoyed what I've seen of your art style thus far. I like how you've used the overall lack of color; that is to say, how you only use color to highlight something particularly important. I'm looking forward to going back and seeing exactly why the tree and mug are unusual.

Blueysicle Aw, that's really kind of you to do, thank you! ^^ Honestly any feedback you may give is greatly appreciated, no prior experience required or expected! Comics have a lot of facets to them, and I feel a number of them, like story and character, are pretty similar to written stories in terms of talking about them, so feel free to lean into more familiar territory if you'd like. There's never really any kind of feedback I expect regarding comics, I'm always just curious initial impressions and what sticks out for others, as well as what may or may not be working for them :3 I should probably also mention that the short story is not at all required to read for the series, and in fact I'd probably recommend not reading it >.> (not just because it's super old, but also because it has plot element that are no longer relevant/make sense to the story x3) I hope you enjoy the other comics, and thank you again for taking the time to read them =D I also need to get to reading the next part of your story today, and I'm debating whether or not to put feedback here or make a new thread, seeing as I think you're the only NTWF'er with an entry this week x3
