Very obvious gap on the right I want to fix- but hey, I am starting to add a Pretty Proper Base to Ursh's mini! =D I also got a set of shades from my mother, so shaded Zazz (bow, trousers and some more orangey tones in the flame), and Neil (both snake and human bodies.)

Bases! Went with grassy goodness for Ursh because they're a nature cleric (and also this is the same grass my friend used for Aurora and one of her Tsukis, so I had a reference to go off of since those are currently at my house.) Went with snow for Zazz because it matches his colour scheme (wow such monochrome boi!), and also because I really loved the image of him in the snow. May put Astrophelle in the snow too, after checking with her DM that this makes sense- apparently it rains a lot in that setting, but she would look so cool with a snowy base dangit! If I use snow for Astrophelle, I'll probably paint the base grey and drybrush brown, but skip the layer of stones this time around and just put the snow directly over top. With two layers the base can get quite high, and it would end up getting in the way of her spell effect and look odd. (I know I need to fix up the lines on Zazz's boots, he was like the fifth or sixth mini I painted and I used a brush almost the width of his entire face to do it. One day when I'm bored and need a project I'll tidy him!) (from this angle Ursh looks like they're Severely Judging Zazz, which is about right for anyone who comes into contact with this idiot tbh.) Nassi is starting to get a base, too! Glue was very much still drying when I took this. Also it's blurred here but ahhh I love how her scar turned out! EDIT: finally updated my to-do list in the first post, whoops.

End of day updates! Pretty bases! Lurking at the back are a mindflayer I finished up for my brother's collection, and the mini for my drow ranger Xyniir. Zazz (drow rogue, painted ages ago but based today) and Xyniir (drow ranger, painted recently and not getting a pretty base.) Finished Nassi today too! Of all the bases I've done so far, I'm the happiest with hers. <3 Love how her scar turned out, too!

Started work on Astrophelle's base. Snow doesn't really fit the setting, so I opted against that in the end. I asked the DM what would suit the setting, and she suggested an earthy terrain, or else a temple floor. Because of how Astrophelle's base isn't flat, I don't think the latter would work, so I'm doing some earthy stuff. The glitter on Astrophelle's wings has held up really well these past couple months!

Thorn is painting two tiny things right now! a) this critter (which I mucked up assembling in my impatience, but am still excited to paint!) and b) something I can't post here because I can't risk EuroAtlantis seeing it. But it's the biggest model I've ever painted, and something I've wanted to paint for a long time...so if anyone's interested (and you're NOT a core member of EuroAtlantis), flick me a PM and I will share some pics! I'm happy with my progress so far. <3

Looked a lot less blurry on my phone. >.> Progress on the mindflayer mini (Captain N'Ghathrod by Gale Force Nine.) Yes I am aware there is a lot of gold on that right sleeve (it'll get fixed!)...but I'm happy with how the little border of gold on its hat is turning out! And the basket hilt on the sword was fun to paint.

It's been a long time since I posted any new paintstuffs. I've been working on some adorable puppers from the 'dungeons and doggies' range! And my Secret Project is pretty much finished, just needs tidying. For now, here's another pic of two models I painted a while back: my level three part-angel kid and my level fifteen demigod kid! This is a really nice picture of Astrophelle's wing (you can clearly see the sparkles!), but at the same time you can also...very clearly see...how much less detail is in the face of a Wizkids miniature (Astrophelle) than a custom HeroForge mini (Ursh.) (on the other hand, Astro did cost me a good thirty dollars less than Ursh. So you get what you pay for and all that! Definitely wouldn't make buying HeroForge minis a regular thing.) The streak across Astrophelle's forehead is not rogue paint from her clothes- it's her hair, she's a blonde. =) (Astrophelle's base is unfinished, I haven't decided what to do with it.)

GUY FROM WORK *examining Astrophelle*: You should use a wash. ME: I did. HE: I think a sepia wash would be best. ME: That's what I used. HE: You should use it better. So I rewashed Astrophelle using Seraphim Sepia on her outer cape, and idk some orangey one on her robes. You can defs see the difference on the cape, at least!

Haven't done any painting for a while, so today I started painting a yuan-ti malison for my brother. He is Neil's friend, so I'm calling him Nigel. Have all his base colours done (chose his scale colours randomly using the table in Volo's- got 'black and white.') I've realised I don't care about being able to paint perfect high-detail wonderful-artistic pieces that much. Putting the colours onto critters like this with my limited skills and then seeing them in play on the tabletop...is very nice! I'm very excited to see some things I've painted in play for post-lockdown Dungeon of the Mad Mage.

Progress on Nigel. Changed his secondary colour to yellow-orange after I took the last photo, but have made it a bit lighter again since this one. Couldn't work out why the wash wasn't working on his human skin until I realised it was probably too light a colour, so I switched from 'reikland fleshshade' to 'agrax earthshade' and now he looks way nicer. Why are these snake people always so shredded? A mystery for the ages. This is DJ the grey slaad. He's called DJ because I was singing a really silly, slaadi-themed cover of 'pon de replay' when painting him. Since this photo I've coloured the inside of his mouth black, and his eyes yellow. He's got these membranes under his arms that aren't visible in this picture, but that's how you can tell he's a grey slaad and not a death slaad (they look pretty similar.)

DJ and Nigel being bros as they prepare to take on some adventurers! ft. cat. DJ on his own, showing off those teef (I painted the tiny teeth and they look so good! Ahh!) After look at this picture I realised I hadn't shaded his hands, so went back and did that.

For some reason, I never shared Astrophelle's mini after I finished turning her base into a stream and turned her previously pure blue wings into gold-flecked 'starlight wings' (as her DM called them when they first activated, and I love the description so much that now I always use it. Makes for especially lovely mental imagery when combined with her planetarium/star lab-themed Shield of Faith, as they were last session.) Anyway, here she is! Astrophelle Valentina Alektos, currently a chronic screw-up when compared with the rest of the party (but I love her anyway.)

*pauses for a moment to squeal about how wonderful this metallic silver paint looks* Ahem. Right. Okay, moving on... Once upon a time there was a young half-drow librarian called Ephebias. Every so often, a paladin loyal to her house came to borrow a book, or ask for information relevant to some Grand Paladin Quest. Sadly, while Ephebias was quite smitten with this paladin, they thought little of her and were fairly cold and aloof in general. One day, Ephebias learned her friend had disappeared. Oh no! With the aid of her invisible teacher Wishful, Ephebias set out with the intention of discovering what befell her friend (hoping that they will fall in love with her in the process, as an added bonus.) We shall see how that goes. Ephebias is the character Astrophelle's DM will be playing in a new game I'm DMing! Today I really wanted to paint a drow, so I grabbed a spare elf fighter mini (the partner to the mini I used for most of Zazz's model), attached the arm from the druid I used for part of Nassi's mini, and got ready to paint a figure for Ephebias' paladin friend! (well, the arm fell off twice during this process, but...I got there!) This character doesn't have a name yet, and we're not 100% decided on gender (but leaning female.) I don't even know what I'll actually do with them in the campaign, but...I wanted to paint a pretty elf. And they'll turn up somewhere for sure! Even if they end up being an adversary because, as I discussed with Ephebias' rper, this drow is a Certified Jerkface. I'll try to lighten up the hair a bit more, but am super happy with how the face is turning out! Unlike with Zazz's model from the same set, I managed to apply a very light coat that doesn't conceal the details. (also just...please just ignore how totally dislocated that right arm looks.) EDIT: She is a lady paladin, and her name is Chalamyntine.

Painted Chalamyntine a bit more! Still just base colours at this stage. Arm fell off again and I'm keeping it off for now, as it's just easier to paint some sections like this anyway. All the colours except that deep purple come from the box of base colours my manager gave me. So I'm going to send her the second pic to show what I've been up to! Been thinking about what to do with Chala in the campaign, which is the Dungeon of the Mad Mage module. Ideas include (some spoilers for DotMM): *Captured by a rival house (bit predictable, and also would mean she is encountered a lot earlier than the other options.) *Taken by gith (higher level, but harder to justify.) *Used as one of the test subjects by the mages on level 9 (fairly low level, but tasty story potential.) *Taken by the vampires on...I think it's level 18? High level, anyway. I'll probably come up with more ideas as I read through the module again anyway.
