Mrehhh, my custom thumbnail didn't work. I know it's like a 100% guarantee the actual thumbnail submission doesn't work so why even bother (although I still tried it anyway just in case), but I also NM'd nt_editor with the thumbnail as well, since that's what I've known to do in the past.
And of course it's only after the comic gets published with a generic thumbnail that there's a special note in the Editorial about how to submit thumbnails properly! (which I have a feeling was inspired by my own efforts xP)
I guess it's nice to know to put the url in the comments section of the submission page, but what, even neomailing doesn't work anymore? I'm just supposed to let this whole arc run with a generic thumbnail because I missed my one opportunity to submit on a page that doesn't let you know it's broken or how to work it? At least, that's what I can assume given that the editor didn't reply to my neomail and gave me a generic thumbnail anyway.

At least, that's what I can assume given that the editor didn't reply to my neomail and gave me a generic thumbnail anyway. Oh man, that system is still broken? I've been submitting thumbnail links in the comments for a while now, just in case, but I've also been wondering if it actually still is broken; I made a thread about it a whopping year ago and submitted a ticket around the same time. It's an incredibly stupid workaround, seeing how there's a character limit to the comment box, the information isn't widespread and also they're still hotlinking to thumbnails that do get submitted, as seen from June's thumbnail in this same issue. Either way, that does rather suck >< (on the plus side, your comic caught my eye scrolling down despite the generic thumbnail, so yay for that at least? :'D I have a good eye for titles.) Could mebbe try neomailing them again and try to get the rest of the series thumbnailed properly? Also, and I'm just posting this here instead of Mod Squad because it feels like the sort of point that benefits from public discussion and input: aren't we long overdue a Neopian Times Rules and Pointers sticky thread of some sort? The little Editorial blurb about the thumbnails will be lost to the archives together with the new info about angle instead of square brackets (news to me, we used to specifically have to use the square brackets cos angle brackets disappeared in coding) and there are various other odds and ends we've had to learn the hard way because information just doesn't get shared any more. ...also also, this issue officially marks one hundred comics I've churned out, whoo =D It's technically not Shad and Saura #100 because there are some collabs in my history that don't count, but I didn't want to get overly pedantic about it. (also also also, I'll try to actually do some reviews this week, aheh.)

Huntress Looks like it, alas </3 Not sure how long ago it was, but I remember also poking staff about it with a neomail to the editor. If I remember right, her reply was something along the lines of, "Huh that's weird, well in the meantime you can just send me the link directly." I don't have a date as it looks like I deleted that neomail alas, and I don't recall which editor it was with (could've been as far back as CQ). But yeah, it's been around for waaay too long considering the time and amount people who have contacted them about this. At least now they know that there's an issue, but it sounds like the either don't know what's wrong themselves, or they don't care to find out/fix it. Neomailing again and try to fix the rest of the serious sounds like a good idea, I'll probably send that message on Monday to see what happens. Another idea I had, although I'd rather not do it, is resumbit the rest of the comics with a title like "Blossoms Games Night [[USE THIS INSTEAD]]" xD None of my comics got held over, only the first one got an acceptance message, so in theory it could work, but that also sounds very tedious x3 I'm glad though it still caught your eye beforehand xD At the very least, if people don't recognize it before clicking, they'll know what's up when they see my weird human grayscale comics are back xDD I'd be all for a thread for all these tips and workarounds, because lol I see now that I posted on your linked thread and thus must've read that tip about putting the link in the comments, but I still completely forgot xD And congrats on 100 comics!! \o/ =DDD That was really exciting to see first time I saw the title, I hadn't realized how close you were to that milestone =o I'll probably give even more thoughts soon with other reviews (I will try to my best with these!! x3), but loool I enjoy the combination of sincerity and snark from your pets x3 They're genuine with their celebrations, but still aren't afraid to be deadpan in the process x3 I'm also trying to remember, when was the last time you showed up in a Shad and Saura comic? =o

Hey guys, I just created an account just so I could post this; if anyone's read the story I published (A Day in the Life of the Tombola Man!), what'd you think about it? I'm so excited because this is the first time I've been published in the NT and any feedback, concerns, or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Dusty (werelupe_zap)

My comment for Part 1 looked like this: With the link to the postimage site thumbnail in the description, which leads to the thumbnail. The rest just have the quote text without linking to the thumbnail. I was really hoping they wouldn't hotlink, but they did. I agree Twillie, try neomailing again, or if you want to go with the resubmitting route, just resubmit one and say that the thumbnail is for all of them. I've had a friend who lost all their formatting because they used angle instead of square, but that was years ago. Luckily Duke Pikachu volunteered to neomail the editor asking if it's changed. As it so happens, I accidentally sent in a story 1/7/19 with angle brackets. I realized my mistake immediately, and sent in another one titled "Ink: Background (With proper HTML formatting) with square brackets. So I guess I'll see which one gets accepted. Though I half expect one or both to get TMGE'd because I have my comic series running now. *** werelupe_zap Welcome to the NTWF! And congratulations on your first story! Do you have plans to write more? I'll go ahead and put your review in a spoiler here: What a lovely story! It's fun to see behind the scenes of a daily like the Tombola. It was especially fun when "Tomb" visited the Snowager, they have such a good relationship. he obviously gets a lot of joy from his job, and it shows in your writing. Good job!

Thank you June Scarlet, for that nice welcome and for that review! I really appreciate any feedback I can receive. ^__^
Yeah, I had to have something for when the Tombola man closes his stand the hour before Snowy goes to sleep, so I just decided to have him go visit Snowy to restock his prizes from Snowy's bountiful loot! xD
Also (if you couldn't tell; probably could though ) Tandrak Shaye is my favorite yooyuball player by far, so I just had to give him a giant shout out for being so awesome looking and fun to score with whenever I play YYball!
Yes, I'm going to try and write enough so that I can get the NT Star avatar and maybe work on an article or short story for issue #900 to get that avatar as well. Do you know about how far in advance the special (00's, 50's) issues need to be submitted for them to count in that issue?
Thank you again for my first review and I look forward to writing many more stories down the road!

werelupe_zapI think a month or two ahead of time would work for Issue 900. It's hard to say, because the editor hasn't been that great about replying to short stories; how long ago did you submit yours? I'm curious. Might I suggest you introduce yourself to the forum on The Forum Gates? ntwriters.proboards.com/board/32/forum-gates I know not everyone uses these review threads, and I'm sure they'd like to get to know you a bit better! Huntress Heh, this kind of reminds me of my DwtS: Fifty Gold Quills comic, I guess great minds think alike! (And have more quills than we know what to do with.) Anyway, Great job, the joke is on par, and I especially like Saura's expression in the last panel. Congratulations on so many comics! Twillie I wanted to try something a little different for your review, given its format. I hope it works!

June Scarlet Haha, I love your annotations review style! I didn't even notice that about both of them being on their stomachs- although yes, I do tend to sleep that way x3 In the moment, I chose those poses to comedically convey their emotions of exhaustion or irritation, since I find funny the image of someone lying face first in their pillow x3 And lol, I wouldn't be surprised if Jonathon always carried a stick of eyeliner on him- never know when it might need touching up! Although at least in this case he's just going through his morning routine, just like someone putting their makeup on alongside brushing their hair/teeth x3 Fair point about the confusion of that last Zathandria panel! It's probably clear where in this comic I got rather lazy with the backgrounds x3 (one thing I tried to improve upon in this arc is lighting and backgrounds to enhance mood, but sometimes I just didn't know what to do or got tired x3)

Huntress Congrats on 100 comics =D *party favor sounds* Lol, I love how even when celebrating, Saura still finds a way to leak in his all-business attitude, although to be fair, I wouldn't know what to do with so many trophies otherwise. I'm completely the type to just leave them laying around wherever to get busted up until someone else intervenes xD Shiny trophies are shiny with that gold outlining, and in general I just dig the overall colors and compositions of this comic. I think they look nice and tight, and are indicative of the progress and work you've put in over the years :3 (also love that skull lamp in the background, 10/10 where can I acquire) I'm kind of curious, those papers that you're reading/have stacked on the desk wouldn't happen to represent the number of books you've been translating, do they? >w> June Scarlet I thought I'd return the favor with a similar review! But yeah, in general I love seeing the shift in Matt's character and the new efforts he's making to improve himself. All of his mistakes with those around him haven't been lost to him, he really does want to make a change (and all it took was potentially losing his childhood friend!). werelupe_zap Congrats again on your first NT publication =D It was fun read, getting to hear about how the Tombola Man enjoys his job. One part that especially caught my attention was the mention that the MICD limited the amount of prizes he could give out in a day; it makes me wonder the reasons behind that, it seems like it'd make for an interesting read! I'd be careful with the amount of exclamation marks you use, as they can be great to show certain emotions, but are most effective when limited in amount. The started losing their effect a bit the more I read, just because there were so many. That'd be exciting for sure if you got in for the 900th issue, good luck with that =D

Nothing about the one with angle brackets, though I would expect a rejection. So here's more confirmation that square are the way to go. Ink: Inversion Part 7 was also accepted yesterday though, so I don't know if both will show up or what.
