So is The Coconut something akin to The Onion? Or more like the Weekly World News? Something like this: www.theonion.com/marine-biologists-train-highly-intelligent-octopus-to-p-1832053903 Brian (the twin) and I were talking about possible ideas and he was like, "why don't you write something silly, like, 'Top 5 things in Lord Kass' Sock Drawer?'" In any event, I'm excited for this one. Writing off-the-walls silly stuff is always a joy. My twin is merrily plotting away at an article right now, haha

Well, my Dinner with the Scarlets comic was going to be called "Dinner with the Scarlets: No Dinners to Date" and it was going to be June reacting to an article published in The Coconut about their comic. So maybe short stories could do something similar? Reading The Coconut, working for The Coconut, finding out about the new newspaper, and so on. Alternative, if anyone feels like taking that route, is to do their version of the Onion's editorial cartoon. Like . . . a pet labeled "deserving pets" with a handful of items at the money tree saying "Why do I need to stop? I only took nine!" and the Money Tree, labeled "Selfish Tree" responds "You already got something at the Thrift Shop today!" with a crying Fyora in the background. Possibly with some other pets labeled "Lazy Newbies" with pointy teeth in the background, helping themselves to items. Oooh! Maybe something about the Faerieland employment agency shutting down until they can restructure to long-term employment options rather than item retrieval assignments? or would that be too real world-y? serious question. It's nearly 3am my ideas are spawning but my judgement on them is debatable. Tamagotchi petpets are introduced. Requires taking an Electric Negg, 8-bit petpet of the species you intend to digitize, and two batteries to the Cooking Pot. Spooky food shop shut down after health inspectors finally catch up on decades-long backlog of reports; review of records results in countless missing pet/petpet cases being solved. "They were literally serving Blumaroo Steaks. I don't know why it took so long for someone to look into it." said one local. Feedback welcome on which idea people think is worth following through on.

mollyscribbles , please edit your post instead of posting multiple times in a row. Anyway, here's a maybe controversial idea: we based the April Fools on the canceled Neopets On-The-Go now that we know what features it'll have (B.L.I.P. MUST LIVE!).

They're all good, but this one in particular made me laugh out loud.

Got an idea that had less murder-y implications: Anchor Management to be shut down after it was discovered that the Krawken was actually a Titanic Giant Squid Admiral Kyrwinne had adopted, many years ago. He assumed the "adorable little lady" wanted to be free, and left her behind when he retired to Krawk Island. The squid, missing Kyrwinne, spent years trying to trace him through the ocean currents(gathering little gifts for him she came across, floating in the waves or under them) before finding Krawk Island, and grew much larger in the meantime. Her attempts to climb the ropes that lead to the island portion Kyrwinne was on caused them to break. Lashing out in frustration, she accidentally snapped the rest of the ropes, breaking up the rest of the island. Of course, Krawk Island was reconstructed in due course, with stronger ropes than before, but every time she tried to return to Kyrwinne -- apology gift in hand -- she's blasted with a cannon that causes her to flee in pain, dropping her treasure. Kyrwinne simply hadn't gotten a good look at her during the incident and was too busy with his shop to assist with anchor defense before a friend talked him into checking it out. He immediately recognized her, and their joyful reunion was adorable enough to halt the firing. "Poor girl just needed a hug and scratch behind the ol' ears," he told a reporter.
Many Neopians have apologetically returned many of the 'gifts' they'd inadvertently stolen from the Krawken. "I do feel kind of bad for her, and it's really no trouble to give this stuff back. Aside from the occasional morphing potion or paint brush, the stuff she dropped has mostly devalued a lot and was just taking up space in my SDB."

mollyscribbles , you're giving good ideas for an article, but none of these are large enough themes that you can take many different articles, stories, and comics from. Look at past April Fools collabs as examples: Wraithland: It's discovered that the Wraiths have their own world opposite of Faerieland/Neopia. The Oracle Games: The Oracle has taken well known Neopian characters and have pitted them against each other. NeoQuest 3: After much waiting, the third installment of the NeoQuest series has been released! Discovery of Lutari Island: The storm has finally calmed and everyone can now visit Lutari Island! Faerie Wars: The tension between the different elemental Faeries have reached a boiling port, it's time for a civil war! NeoSchools Are Opening: The previously cancelled NeoSchools are brought back and open for enrollment! Goldrun: A new western/cowboy-themed world had been discovered: Goldrun!

mollyscribbles , you're giving good ideas for an article, but none of these are large enough themes that you can take many different articles, stories, and comics from. She doesn't have to. Not all the articles in the Coconut have to be the same theme, just have to be parody articles. The Coconut can have many different articles about different things. This is sort of a unique April Fools in that respect. Just so long as it's made clear that the article is for the new newspaper, The Coconut.

I know how past April Fool's collabs have gone -- I wrote a story for the Wraithland issue -- but I'm tossing out ideas to see what sticks right now, and thinking in terms of the Onion's format. I accept that the word count would be low, but I could combine a few to have a 'News in Brief' article.

I've finished a sketch of my comic for April Fools that I wanted to share. I was kind of hoping to add in actual article titles from you guys to the newspaper, so if you have a headline, let me know. Also I'm testing out a new font, and I wanted feedback. Does the font fit with my style? Is the size good, or too big?

June Scarlet Right now the comic is just showing up as a broken image :c I dunno if it's just on my end or if something went wrong when putting it in the post.

Hhrnnmm... still trying to figure out sta.sh's new image format. It no longer has .png or .jpg or what have you at the end. It won't work on Neopet pages without it, but I thought I'd see if it works here. It works on preview, but maybe not. I added the direct link as well.
Meanwhile, postimage works beautifully, but doesn't support comics because they're too many pixels tall, they resize them. I'm going to have to find yet another image host.

June Scarlet I think the font you chose looks good for the comic :3 It has neat sort of handwriting effect, and sans serif in general is a good option for comics (in general, at least for comics with a tone and format like DwtS). And lol, I may actually have some Blossoms comics running through the NT soon (I finally (just about) finished this next arc, just gotta get them under 200KB now xD), so that'd be funny if these two ran at the same time xD

Are we still going with the idea to pretend there's an extra character in the plot? Because I had a sudden idea for one. Pachi Dacon, Lyra's childhood friend who has a tendency to be over-prepared for any given situation, leaving Lyra feeling redundant in bringing along things like water or maps. Is a yooyuball prodigy, but her father wouldn't let her try out for the Lost Desert team, so she wants to go to Altador with her friend to find a yooyuball master to train her. Or something.

Were we doing some iteration of the coconut? I double-checked with the editor, she's still fine with that idea.
