this is my nano thread.
it will have things in it.
my novel is about some chick who has to fight crime. demons, really, but is there a difference between that and the police? no. no there isn't.
demons is a popular subject this year. i mostly chose it because lovecraft is so passé.
anyway there's no way i'm hitting 50,000 words because i'm not a nerd or really motivated, so i'm aiming for 20,000. yeah. it's a thing.
that way i can be lazy and say that i accomplished something.
will keep you updated.

i discovered that in this world, demons don't exclusively deal with humans. humans have the most bang for the buck, but, like, other brainy animals can be targets. doesn't work so well, because of a lack of language and all, but in today's economy, you gotta take what you can get.
you know what this means?
there's a demon trying to make a make a deal with a chimpanzee to get revenge on the alpha. it's canon now.

I love this! I mean, why not? The actual bargaining process must have been pretty hilarious though. xD

it went something like this
demon: listen, do you know how that guy stole your girl? well, i can give you the magical power to be the most popular chimp in the troop! listen up-- chimp: *gestures* demon: *pulls out jane goodall's research* this is the most reading i've had to do in a millenium. why didn't i stick to sanitation engineers.
today i had period problems, and i took it out on my main character
she's now saddled with Demon Man who has confessed his undying love to her via a letter... that was so soaked with so much cologne that the ink became unreadable. this is not genuine, and demon hunter lady knows this. demon tries to trick her anyways.

Demon Man, that's not how human courting works
that's raven courting. wrong species.
"well there was a really smart guy in ancient greece that said humans were featherless birds--"
"how long ago was this"
ANCIENT GREECE DEMON HUNTER DID YOU NOT PASS HISTORY

Personally, I think this demon hunter story is a really cool, original take on the genre, and I always enjoy seeing updates here. I don't think it's stupid at all!
Even deleting excess words is progress. If you meant that doing NaNo was a stupid idea, I think of NaNo more as a motivator to get you writing. Even if you don't finish a draft this month, at least you've made progress!

I always look back at my writing and think it's stupid. Maybe it is! But it's more words of stupid than I had before, and I've noticed even when I fail or something in a story doesn't work a part of it will come back later, better, stronger, in a different story, and that one might even be sort of good. Or it might just be stupid again, who knows what my goblin brain will think in a future time. But don't delete, for real, as someone who's always itching to start over, to delete, to call it quits, cause years down the line you might come back and be like OH SNAP THIS IS GOOD WHO WROTE THIS and you don't even remember cause you have severe memory loss and it's so good you couldn't have possibly written something this cool? But then it turns out you did, and this really happened to me, so hey, sometimes stupid works.

thanks, you two! yeah, thorn, deleting excess words is technically progress--but i always have a much easier time doing that than adding new content on the page, and i guess i was mostly upset because adding stuff is what i struggle with more.
honestly, jackie, i delete pretty much everything! so i don't really have an archive of past writing to look up. i should really do that less--one for archive reasons, and two, as you put it, to remember the old ideas that might turn up someday else. ><
i haven't really been working on this the past few days. i think i've just been kind of down.

so i'm back at it again.
demon man: so... in your human language, what do you call an arrangement where two people are bonded together in a pair for life? demon hunter: you mean like a marriage? demon man: kind of... but like... it involves a blood pact and you die when it's terminated. also you share thoughts and experiences for the rest of time. demon hunter: why would anyone do that demon man: it means more than your pathetic "marriage" concept. humans are not strong enough.
demon is not impressed with humans. demon hunter thinks that demon love lives suck and that humans' is superior.

yea i didn't really end up doing much
maybe... 19kish words? which is all right, i guess, i just didn't enjoy it very much. i mean, i haven't really enjoyed writing--or anything--in a few years, so i didn't really know what to expect. it's all just kind of a messy blur to me. i think i wrote the bulk at the end of the month.
demon hunter and demon man actually ended up combining forces to defeat evil demon guy who was actually the wizard of oz. very plot twist. much wow.
anyways thanks for embarking on this nothing journey with me.
