At the front of a humble house in the neighborhood, a young man sits beneath the front porch light. He meekly rifles through the candy in the plastic jack-o-lantern bowl sitting on his lap, but as he hears someone approach, he freezes. Against the porch light and bright walls, his dark hair and clothing make him appear like a shadow. Any mystique disappears though as he looks up to you, his face holding the most pitiful expression.
"Oh, u-uh hi!" he stammers. "Here, here's some-" He quickly cuts himself off, realizing he should give you time to say the proper "trick-or-treats."
After that an awkward silence, he starts up again, holding out his candy bowl.
"You can have a couple of these. A-and if you want, there's also-" he gestures towards a nearby wall, which have a number of doodles tacked up on it. "If you want a free drawing, you can ask for one as well."
With the passing of another awkward silence, he adds with his eyes trained on his feet, "...Happy Halloween."

The air all around the young man goes cold- no, frigid. Frost tinged every so slightly black forms on the grass of the yard and the wood of the porch. A cold crimson mist fills the air, and twin points of burning crimson light appear out of the darkness. There is a loud snarl, and a ghostly red creature with a skull for a face charges towards him, pouncing towards and then through him with a sensation like pins and needles, only deathly cold.
The thing pauses behind him, smirks, and then turns with a sinister, "Trick or treat."

Shinko Candy sprawled all across the ground, spilled out from its jack-o-lantern bowl that grinned vacantly up at trembling hands. Completely frozen (and not just from the sudden temperature change) and drained of color--and were those tears in his eyes?-- Jonathon gathered all of the courage left in him to squeak out, "What do you want?"

Though your fear is amusing, I shall settle for a 'treat' as I've been hearing them called." The glances at the wall and adds, "And you said something about art?"

A few well up enough to spill over onto his cheeks, which Jonathon meekly wipe away as he answers, "O-oh, I..... Yeah, you can have a- a sketch if you want....." Although trailing away at first, he quickly adds, "I-it can be anything you want! And even colored, if you think that'd be best..." The ghost said he's not on her hit list, but he'd rather not accidentally change that.

The hooded-cloaked mage looks down at the man who stammers his way through an introduction, at one of the few normal houses in the neighborhood. They put out a hand and try to smile.
"Hey, really, it's okay. Happy Halloween to you too. Thanks for the candy." They take a piece. Then, being awkward themselves, they look around until they find the doodles on the wall, and they take some time to peruse them.
"...Um! If you really want, you could... you could draw me something? I mean, no pressure. But I had two ideas I want drawn at some point, so if you wanted to, um..." They take out two pieces of paper, scribble something on each of them, and hold them out to Jonathan. "There's two; pick one? No pressure, though. Thanks for your time!"
((Details will be given in private sidechat.))

This is a person.
She has an extremely lazy Halloween costume. In fact, you're pretty sure it's the Halloween costume she'd used when she was just a wee child. One problem... she's not five years old, she's actually in her twenties... and you're pretty sure those are just scraps of Superman's outfit over her work clothes. You're not sure if she's trying to live the spirit of Halloween... or just trying to relive her childhood.
"Well..." she says after Jonathan's meek "Happy Halloween!" "Trick or treat, I guess--but since we're past that already... I guess... I don't like candy as much as I used to, and instead have developed a taste for art, so I would prefer that."

Making a small glance up at the figure, Jonathon manages to reply back, "Oh, you're welcome." He seems to take a notable interest in the patch of grass to his right, away from the figure, before they speak up again. "O-oh, yeah!" He answers to the question about art. "I mean, I can't draw, but I know someone who can. I'll be sure to get these to her." He tucks away the pieces of paper and clears his throat. "Yeah, of course. I mean, apparently I've got nothing better to do with my time tonight..." A slight scowl crosses his face as he glances at the door leading inside the house. Wonder who could've forced him to talk to people all night. This is a person. She has an extremely lazy Halloween costume. Jonathon does a double take at the sketches wall at her question, answering while looking, "I, uh, I'm not sure if one's up there..." He stands and walks closer to the wall, scanning it and doing his level best to find out for sure. This is what happens when you never learn how to say "no." "These are all just examples, for anyone who might be interested, but uh, in case one of your characters isn't up here, I could make sure you do get one?"

"Oh, uh..." Jackie seems thrown off by the young man's nervousness. Normally the spectacled, sweater-wearing, chubby paper-pusher is the least threatening person in the room. "It's fine. Just relax. I'm not going to do anything. I'm just looking for a way to fix my car and get back to work. I have a lot to do."
She picks up a few sweets, unwrapping one and popping one into her mouth. "The sweets are nice for keeping me going for work though. Thanks," she glances over the drawings on the wall. "Your art is nice. I could use something cute to keep me going when my colleagues are being frustrating. Especially Aeneas," she rolls her eyes. "He thinks he's so cool but he's just pretentious."

The thylacine sits on her haunches, cracking her neck lazily. "No need to go out of your way. As I said, you're not the target of my ire."
She gives a toothy grin and adds, "I'm getting an inkling that I should say 'Surprise me, whatever you think would be the most fun.' And that the message will get to whom it means something." She gave a yawn, showing off her sharp predatory teeth. "Being cryptic is one of the most fun parts of being dead."

"Happy Halloween!" screeches the raptor-vampire when Jonathon pauses to let them speak. Noticing his meekness, they falter.
"There is no need to be scared, right? Nothing scary here! I am a human, wearing a very good raptor costume, see?" They perform the hand wave of hypnosis again and peer more closely at the lad. "You do not like the Halloween? You are inviting us for Halloween, right? You are not a vampire? You would make a fair vampire, you look better than my friends. When they are disguised as vampires."
They take a pinch from his candy bowl and focus on Jon again, holding their fingers rigidly towards him. "Now you will see two different drawings that you could give to me... you see them in your mind's eye, and you will give one of them to me... but only if that is possible in your current state of affairs... you will only remember a normal raptor visiting your house. No vampires."

I would appreciate it if you could see to it. Thank you."

Jonathon gives the woman a quizzical look. For some reason, that word sounds familiar, but he can't quite pinpoint an image to the name. Perhaps something his Writer's mentioned before? Maybe another crazy invention all those on the rich end of Neopia Central own. Moving on from that, though, he replies to the rest of her . "Oh, oh yeah, no problem. Gotta spread the Halloween spirit, after all. And Aeneas?" He puts on another curious look, but this time minus the confusion. "Yeah, he uh, sounds like he could do with something cute. Unless the picture just makes him more pretentious.... But either way, do you maybe have a picture of him?" The thylacine sits on her haunches, cracking her neck lazily. "No need to go out of your way. As I said, you're not the target of my ire." She gives a toothy grin and adds, "I'm getting an inkling that I should say 'Surprise me, whatever you think would be the most fun.' And that the message will get to whom it means something." She gave a yawn, showing off her sharp predatory teeth. "Being cryptic is one of the most fun parts of being dead." That perhaps lessened Jonathon's nerves by a small fraction, which admittedly is still quite an accomplishment. "Well, uh, I'm glad," he stammers. "And ah, yeah I-I'll be sure to get that to...." As he goes for a piece of paper to write the message down, he suddenly stops mid pencil stroke. "...You're right. Apparently it's already taken care of. I, uh, hope you get it soon then." At the creature's last line, his mouth quirks slightly. "I wouldn't know of that myself. Hopefully not for a long time...." Although it seems obvious now, it still surprises Jonathon in the moment just how much more difficult it can be to relate to a revenge spirit. And he thought he had trouble with his living peers. "Happy Halloween!" screeches the raptor-vampire when Jonathon pauses to let them speak. Noticing his meekness, they falter. "There is no need to be scared, right? Nothing scary here! He examines their costume, "Yeah, nice.... raptor costume." He assumes it must be something similar to a Chomby or Grarrl. "And no, Halloween is nice! Just, passing out candy alone can be the challenge.... And no, but I almost was! The scarf and glitter just felt a bit too stuffy for me, even on a cold night. And uh, thanks." He blushes slightly at the compliment. When a finger suddenly finds its way towards his face, he tenses up again slightly. "I.... right. I don't see why a drawing shouldn't come your way, so you can expect one! But uh, my mind's eye might be a little blurry right now."
