SESSION SIXTEEN: a lighthearted recap*YEEEEEEEET *"Don't hurt ma boi!" *I used to be a bandit like you...then I something something arrow, knee. *Zone of Truth!! *You've seen wasp nuggets! Spider nuggets! Now, get ready for...fey nuggets! *Basil is not having a good week. =( *Meallan is having an even worse week! Exit, pursued by a dog! *And a zombie- arguably the more concerning part. SESSIONS FIFTEEN AND SIXTEEN: a scruffy recap(a taster of what my extremely scruffy session notes actually look like! Some stuff edited or removed for clarity or like, spoiler stuff.) Khamet’s gone for ten minutes. Meallan ten minutes, starting two after Khamet (so taking up to 12 minutes.) Plant- removes stains quite handily.
REMEMBER: after 15 minutes in-game time, guards (last point under ‘Hazari’s Home’.) Guards have arrived- left- will send someone back in about a half hour to watch the house.
Khamet gets his horse outside with minimal damage to the house.
Two guards arrive, wearing cloaks with their hoods up against the room, and tell the party they can go. They’re known heroes- they won’t be prosecuted for the deaths given the context.
2.5 hours until sunset.
Khamet Amani Basil Anthony Meallan (cloak on, head down), Tally at back
Raining heavily. Tiny hut for the night. Still about four days from Cai Shaan. Amani, Meallan- first watch. (no others cos hut.)
She will start tracking the party.
AFTER BREAK
The rain is still falling heavily. First it soaks your feet, then your clothes, and it drips off your hoods into your hair. It’s wet and cold and miserable unless you do something about it.
After about a half hour, Basil spies a Strange Gizmo half-buried in the dirt.
Aytal- 20 Anthony- 20 Amani- 19 Treant- 18 Basil Tally- 13 (adv cos Aytal.) Khamet- 8 Meallan- 7 Hatar- 6
Meallan tries to persuade, but it is not really capable of being persuaded.
Khamet moves towards back after the encounter.
Roll exhaustion early afternoon, after encounter.
Take short rest in middle of day.
Strange Gizmo is with Basil.
REMEMBER RAGNAILT FOLLOWS.
Three days left in journey after long rest at end of session.
Vai heard Khamet cry out.
They will reach the centaurs during this new day of travel next session.
Ovinrei (oh-vinn-rye)- injured one.
Tally kept the letter and necklace from Hazari’s house.
Half-hour: Tally/Khamet (10 mins) Meallan/Amani (10 mins)
Encounter: humanoid plants and giant lizards. Lizards slightly in front of plants. Tally- 23 Yeet- 20 Amani- 19 Khamet- 17 Aytal- 15 Meallan- 14 Lizards- 14 Hatar-11 Basil-10 Anthony-10 Dryads-7 Vai- 5
Lizard 1 (near Tally): unconscious 1x more dead tree.
Aytal Helps Yeet, get to describe if needed.
Dryad 2 (16 AC)- 25 (fled) Dryad 3: dead Lizard 2: (dead lizard.)(Khamet near)
D4: 1 hp D5: 7 (just attacked by Khamet. Prone.) (dead) D6: 13 (atk Anthony.)
By Anthony: Lizard 3: (dead lizard)
Hatar bardically inspired. Tally sheltering behind Meallan. Anthony running after the others, got attacked by two trees which missed.
Vai and Vaan moved closer, the group saw Vai not Vaan. Vai did not fall for Khamet’s failed deception.
About eight in halfling party. All six bandits well tied (18 and 25 rolls.)
Cut up dead lizards.
Khamet leading.
Ragnailt, dogs.

Back @ my nonsense with random NPCs you've met like once. When the Tally Watch were observing Tally, I suspected we might have a confrontation with them without the whole party present. So I created two guard NPCs to accompany Tally down to the city- one a level 2 fighter and the other a level 2 ranger- so the party could control and explore some classes not present as player characters in our game. However, they were never needed for this purpose, and so I now treat them as standard NPCs. Each had a bond listed on those sheets, but no other personality traits. Fitting for characters I wanted to be concerned for each other in the hypothetical Tally Watch Conflict scenario, their listed bonds were each other. Anyway a few sessions back Rellamis almost died and so here’s a thing. "You're shivering."
"I'm fine," he grumbled. "Delayed reaction to...all that."
"The adventurers were merciful. I would have killed more, for you and the ambassador both."
"I know you would."
He sighed, pretending to examine his nails. Bianzaan scribbled furiously, wasting far too much ink on stray lines and pointless amendments. It occurred to Rellamis that his colleague had usually eaten by this time of day. It also occurred to him that his hands were shaking furiously, and so he shoved them into the folds of his loaned tunic.
Bianzaan's eyes flickered at the movement. "Rell. It's fine to not be alright after all that."
"But I was alright. Right after. I was so calm! And I'm not a trainee anymore. I should be able to handle this. We’re Ur, we’re known for uh, punching bears and stuff."
Their eyes dipped, unamused. “I’ve never punched a bear in my life.”
“You’re boring when you’re worried.”
“You’re immature when you’re breathing,” they countered.
"And you're not?"
Bianzaan gave him a Look and stood, moving towards the doorway. “I’m going to teach you something.”
“Teach me?” they motioned for him to follow. “Aren’t you supposed to be working?”
“I am,” they conceded. “But the main thing is that there are people with the ambassador at all times. Which is not me right now. I’m with you instead.”
“I thought you were with me because Sanevra almost died?”
They turned a corner. “I’ll forgive your tactlessness this one time. In here. I’m going to teach you to sleep.”
He recoiled as through struck. “Sleep? Like a halfling, or a...a plague victim?”
“Have you really never slept before?”
“Uhh once. Once. I was a kid and really sick. I lost track of everything. I hated it.”
“Mmmm,” they motioned for him to lie down. “And didn’t you feel so much better after?”
“I don’t really remember,” Rellamis admitted.
“Fair enough. Straighten your limbs.”
His hands were still shaking, but mercifully Bianzaan didn’t comment on it. They knelt beside him. Rellamis wasn’t sure how this was supposed to help. The excellent thing about their race- about having been crafted by the Everqueen from actual fey- was that they didn’t need to sleep except as a biological defence against terrible illness or extreme blood loss or some other such horrible event. How was this supposed to help if he wasn’t doing actual restful things? If he was just a breathing corpse like a halfling, or a human?
“Breathe like you’re in trance.”
He tried. It was difficult and he lost the pattern a few times, but was at least starting to feel a little less edgy.
“Focus on my voice.”
As if I'm not already doing that. Rellamis bit his tongue. He felt a bit silly lying at this ridiculous angle instead of his normal, reassuring trance-posture. His thoughts were already sort of fuzzy at the edges. Maybe it had to do with blood flow and...circulation? He was lying flat and so the blood evened out and there was less pressure and whatever.
“How do you know how to do this?”
“I taught myself. It’s not difficult once you get past the natural aversion to unconsciousness,” their voice was soft and measured. “We’ll talk more when you wake. Please focus on your breathing and on quieting your thoughts.”
“Won’t I just go into trance?”
“No harm if you do, but I thought it might be good for you to try this. Focus on stilling your thoughts more than condensing them.”
“This is so weird.”
“Try not to speak.”
His thoughts grew pleasant and fuzzy and he found himself thinking less and less about the Bad Things, and then it was harder to focus on thinking things altogether.
Three hours later Rellamis rolled over in his sleep and onto the floor, shocking himself awake with a yelp. NOTES: Earlier this year I learned that elves in the Forgotten Realms can actually sleep if super injured or super unwell. I really liked this, and so stole it for EuroAtlantis' elves too. And then I decided to apply it here because it seemed a nice idea- bad brain stuff is still illness, after all! Even if Rellamis is mostly just tired and very shaken.
(Yes I do know why Bianzaan knows how to fall asleep...useless tidbit of information I decided on while writing the story oh my goodness- I need to stop doing this with minor NPCs! Anyway they have a form of fantasy-world-heat intolerance and were frequently unwell as a kid until people worked out what was actually going on. Even when they weren't unwell enough to be forced to do so, sleeping became more effective than trancing for feeling better after a cruddy day. Useless NPC Fact #15!)

Hey all! So, I have some... scheduling qualms this semester.
Story is, I picked up a class that I think will be important to my research and career. It didn't originally fall on Thursdays, so while it might've been an issue for Underworld, it wouldn't have been an issue for regular D&D.
However, my professor wants to change the Friday timeslot to Thursday, for very strong reasons. This is cool for Underworld; not for Euroatlantis. And unless I get really lucky with how it gets scheduled and I get it scheduled for later, there's a chance I may have issues attending. I'd basically have to jump out mid-session for an hour or so, probably more because travel, and miss a lot of content. Which I'll do if push comes to shove (unless I'm really not feeling up for that mental juggling), but it's not ideal, especially not now. I wouldn't mind doing a couple of side things, but again, it's not ideal.
We're gonna decide definitive scheduling on Wednesday. I'm going to try to push for a slot that doesn't overlap, but there's not many of those options. And I don't really have a good negotiation hand here. Between peoples' and mine research and career-important things and this one student's D&D session, D&D is gonna lose. I'll try, but I can't make promises.
So I was wondering if it were possible that any other days are free? I have checked with some people on Discord, but y'know, everyone in the party should be involved here.
Monday and Wednesday would have the same issue for me, so those aren't ideal days for me either.
If aaaall else fails, I should be free of this class after the first week of December. (Discounting finals, but that's on a weird date and time anyway. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.)
I'm really sorry about this, all. I know this is really inconvenient, and at a really bad time. But I figure I should be transparent.
I'll have a definitive answer for you all by Wednesday re:my schedule. Here's hoping, but I can't hope too hard. It may be too early to decide before Wednesday, but given how likely it is for overlaps to happen, I figure earlier time to start thinking about it is better.

I absolutely cannot do Sunday evening BST, as that's Monday for me and I worketh. Other days except our normal one I sometimes worketh, but since the days change each week I could get around it for d&days.
I would prefer not to do Friday evening BST, but could manage it.
Everything else works for Thorn. From the discussion on Discord it looks like most days would cause issues, but it might be cool to restate them here in terms of 'definitely not!' Vs. mere 'preferably not!'

Sunday is a no-no for me because that is when my other group play. Tuesday is also impossible because that is when my mum has choir and I must babysit Dormouse. Otherwise, I could manage more or less anything, since this will not be every week. I can skip commitments that I have on other days.

I'm usually off Saturdays and Tuesdays. My workplace makes availability fairly flexible, so I can pick something else if needed--the issue is that I would have to give them about a months' notice.

It seems like the most likely time is Friday evening BST- which might still cause issues for Thundy and Breakingchains? In any case, this might not even be an issue. Gelquie will find out on Friday. If it is an issue, we can also just take it one session at a time until December? That would only be four sessions if I scale us back to one a month (five if we have a second in September as initially planned.)

I can probably make Friday work with enough notice. When we know one way or another we'll talk specific dates I suppose!

Sounds grand to me- thanks Chains!
Similar deal with me I think, I don't work as much as you but my hours change week to week, and so it's good to have warning so I can tell peeps "I can't work this particular day!" Currently the only day they agreed I don't need to ever work, without first being asked, is Friday my-time (Thursday night UK), and I probably shouldn't change that because then I'd need to ask them to change it again come December, assuming we'd go back to our regular day then (and December will be a tricky month for other reasons, anyway!)

Hi guys! So I never followed up on this, but: session 17 should still be on the 12th of September. I'll update this thread again if we need to change the date, but fingers crossed.
I'll be angling to have session 18 on the 26th of September, if everyone's schedules permit. This one can always be moved later if need be since it's only two weeks after session 17, and we're used to waiting much longer between sessions! =P

Hey guys! Just a heads-up
next session will proceed as normal during the 12th! however, the session after that (and any subsequent sessions) will most likely be moved to friday. we'll talk about it more post-game, but essentially this is a heads-up in case that people need to put some time in their schedules or whatever!

Little addendum to the above: aiming for either Friday 27th or Friday 4th, if everyone can make that?
