Aww thanks Rabbit! Glad you like it, it's something I've wanted to do for a while. <3 Being new shouldn't matter. You're a roleplayer, so it'll be easy to pick up! The mechanics can take a bit but you'd have more experienced players, and your DM, to guide ya.
EDIT: For context, my very first experience playing d&d was as DM. True, I had a cool little starter set, but this still goes to show it's not as complicated as it may look! One of the reasons the current edition is so popular is that it simplified and streamlined a lot of previous stuff.

Ah, I could maybe possibly shuffle to the European party, if there turns out to be a lot of people wanting to join the American one? I'm home all day, so technically, either schedule works for me. I'd just still have the problem of being away during half of September, and also that since it'd be weekday mornings for me, I worry about errands cropping up at that time. XD; Evenings would be a bit more convenient, which is why I went for the American party at first, but like, it's definitely possible for me to make it to the European meetings if need be! I'd just have to plan accordingly. Out of curiosity, how long do you guys think each session might be?

I anticipate about three hours. That's how long my other party tends to run.
If you do end up joining my group, but join later than September, it'll be fine. =) Players join adventures late all the time! It's easy enough to write them in, especially when there are so many settlements etc around. And missing the occasional session is nothing to worry about either- it happens and, as Tiger mentioned, if necessary the DM will pilot your character for a little while! I personally prefer to get the character out of the way if possible- for example, the druid missed my other group's last session so I had him out in the swamp collecting herbs.
EDIT: Wow okay, I just did some numbers stuff with Tiger and turns out there are fewer participants so far than I thought! Ignore my comment earlier about needing to shift some people to the European Contingent, I thought we had like ten people here haha (this is what happens when you only skim a thread very quickly on the train!)

I probably won’t be signing up myself as I alas don't have enough time to promise, and indefinite roleplays just aren’t my forte, but I wish the best for you all participating! It’ll be interesting hear about the characters and misadventures that come from this!

Slightly belated but yeah, if I'm mathing and tentative possible-scheduling right, I think my group would be aiming for three-hour sessions as well. I've had longer ones, but that was because those were also social visits and we breaked for/started with dinner XD

That's a good point- longer than that and you usually need a break! My old group would hold 4+ hour sessions, with a break halfway through to get some snacks ready and complain about our dice. =P

I've never played DND before, but I'm game to try and learn and try it out, so this sort of thing sounds up my alley! Yeah, it depends on when it's scheduled and the group size, and I'd be in the Canadian/American group, but I'm interested in at least trying out the game; my friends at university were pretty hardcore players and tried to get me involved in their respective sessions, but I never wanted to go because, yeah, they're all good and I have zero knowledge of how the game works or how to make a character or anything.

RielCZ - sure, we'd be happy to have you! Probably sometime this weekend I'm going to make a Discord server so we can start figuring out as a group when we do our session 0 meeting, and at that point we'll figure out scheduling, among other things. Currently, as you can see by the list in the first post of this thread, we're at four members in our group, so you joining would bring it up to five =) (...It occurs to me I'm not sure if you're on Discord or not - just so you know, we're definitely going to be using it to host the voicechats!) Speaking of scheduling - could those of you joining the North America group please also share your timezones if you haven't already? I'd like to have some idea how spread apart we're gonna be timewise before we have to start planning things XP (Riel, ♥ Azzie, Ginz ❤)

5pm BST is 12pm for me (EST) and I'm off work on Thursdays, so I could totally join the Europe group. I've never played in my life but I'd love to learn.

I'll contact you for more game/world chat when I get off work. EDIT: With five players and one maybe I still need addressed, I'm going to put a temporary cap on my Europe group! Tiger are you wanting to cap yours yet?

I'm okay leaving mine open for now - but I am planning on getting things rolling tomorrow or Saturday, and hoping our session 0 and scheduling can get done before Ginz's going to be absent - so sooner is better than later!
(also we're literally at only two potential time slots and I don't even have everyone's schedule yet, so, it's noooooot unlikely that we might have to split into more than one party, anyway XD )

Ohh nooo! Hopefully you can find another DM, unless you're not as phased by DMing THREE groups as I would be. I'll take another if necessary (if somebody who can't make it at the time you decide can make my timezone), or possibly two, if this maybe gets back to me as a 'no.'

Well I’d be interested in spectating a session at some point, not sure if that’s allowed? But then even if it is neither time zone is seeming a remotely plausible option for me to even spectate so maybe don’t worry about that question too much haha
But I hope you all have tons of fun and make lovely accessible character profiles for us to all read and appreciate!

Aww thanks Reiqua! Sorry about the timezones- I doubt we'll finish this before I go back to NZ so I'll be in a similar situation, getting up at crazy hours to roleplay. xD
If spectating doesn't work out, there are tonnes of podcasts and things where people play d&d, if you're just wanting to get a feel for what it's like. The one I'm listening to right now is 'High Rollers: Aerois', but there are loads of good ones.
