Mochi shook their head roughly, long ears flopping. “Well that won’t do. If I leave you then you’ll probably miss the whole thing- it’s a long trip and uphill most of the way.” They reared up on their haunches, small nose twitching as they scanned the area for inspiration. They caught sight of a small bush nearby, and their silvery eyes brightened. “Give me a second, Granny, I have an idea.” The rabbit bounded over to the bush, first sniffing it all over to ensure that nobody was currently calling it home. Once reassured that the plant was indeed unoccupied, Mochi selected a limb with a particularly thick mat of leaves and twigs on the end and set about gnawing at it. It took some doing, but after about five minutes the rabbit’s huge teeth had separated the branch from the rest of the bush, and Mochi hauled it out. “Here we are- this’ll do the trick,” they said cheerily, hopping back over to Morag. Then they scooped her up with both forepaws and deposited her on top of the leafy end of the branch. “Grasp on tight and don’t let go!” Grabbing the other end of the branch in their jaws, Mochi coiled their legs and sprang forwards, taking to the meadow at speed. * * * Quicksnap gratefully fell into pace between the two dilophosaurs. At Taakeyrr’s question, he gave a throaty chuckle. “I usually live at the point of the meadow close to the Highwinds, but very seldom do I go into the woods properly. As you surmised, there isn’t much room for a creature of my girth to maneuver.” The crocodile tilted his head, seeming to ponder it. “I think the last time I went into the woods properly was when a tree fell during a storm and trapped a young amaroq. The little one’s packmates were beside themselves, but could’t push the tree alone, so they were asking for help from every creature that might feasibly be big enough to pull the tree out of the way. That was… six years ago. Pup might have pups of their own by now.” He reflected that Beech had been of an age that she might have started to have pups too… but shoved the thought aside doggedly. “What about you? You usually stick to the Pines, right?” Mochi doesn’t offer a ride, no, sorry. XD They’re too big for Morag to climb on vertically and even if she did get on, she’d likely fall off when Mochi started moving. Rabbits are not typically beasts of burden so it never crosses Mochi’s mind. Instead they put Morag on a leafy branch and tow it! Celestial, feel free to have them bump into somebody else along the way if you like, or if anybody wants to spot a blue rabbit dragging a haggis on a stick, have at thee! Meanwhile, Quicksnap makes conversation with the dilophosaur duo! Tiger

Roda flinched as she heard the mournful wail of Quicksnap. She shifted her attention back to Kohimu. "Yes, you might have a point there, safety in numbers and all. Very well, let's head to the meeting together." The two of them set off, and Roda jogged to keep pace with the larger taniwha. "I don't think I've seen you around the Highwind Woods, I take it you live near here? I've lived in the woods my entire life myself, as have my family. I have a pretty large family, lots of siblings and cousins and aunts and uncles. Us scimons like the trees, and the woods are full of them. The island is pretty fun to explore, though. I enjoy taking trips to see what's out there." Roda agrees to go with Kohimu Thorn to the meetings, and the two of them set off, Roda talking a bit more about herself.

Taakeyrr chirruped a little in confirmation. "Yes, mostly. We have territory there - a den, some places that fill with water when it rains, some rodents in case we can’t find fish. Mostly we’re there, or at the riverbank. ...Like a lot of the other dinosaurs, I guess.” The tip of her tail twitched back and forth. “I hope we don’t scare anyone at the meeting who hasn’t seen us before.” “We might frighten some of them regardless,” Soaitsae pointed out with tired dry humor. “We’ll manage. They’ll probably prefer us to the raptors, anyway.” Taakeyrr grunted in agreement; the raptor pack had an odd tendency to disturb other animals a little - something about the way they sat and stared, only to burst into motion; or maybe the long claws they sometimes liked to click against things. Possibly the way they spread themselves through a group but then kept making eye contact with one another across the gaps had something to do with it. They were true hunters, too - mostly rodents, but larger prey wasn’t unheard of. Or at least, that was what the coelophyses said, and the raptors notably did not argue with that bit of coelophysis gossip. After a short time of silence and simply covering distance, Soaitsae asked quietly, “Do you think the other thylacines will be there? I can see why they would want to be there, but also why they would want to avoid it completely - but you knew them better.” Some talk about home and then about dinosaurs, in particualr the raptors (okay that last part is in prose, but you get the idea. Soaitsae asks Quicksnap if he thinks Beech’s family will be at the meeting. Shinko

"Ah--oh. Ahem."Makell's eyes daggered at the other feline before her, who suddenly became uncomfortable and began shifting about in a defensive manner. Perhaps she didn't have ill-intentions after all. She was fairly small, no fur to hide any weapons in, and seemed genuinely startled. Makell, a much larger size than the cat, knew she would be able to defend herself should she make a surprise attack. "Ahaha, wherever are my manners? I am called Genevieve, and yourself?"Makell raised her head and looked down upon Genevieve, still skeptical. "You may call me Makell," she responded. Genevieve continued. I was taking a moment to convalesce before resuming the journey, when I noticed the wondrously smooth and warm fur surrounding your visage, and was simply hoping to take brief refuge in your shade and perhaps have your strong accompaniment along the way.""Large words for a small cat," she said, beginning to walk along the river. "I suppose if you're heading towards the meeting place we may as well walk together." Her eyes shot towards Genevieve: "No touching my coat, but you may walk in the shade." Perhaps she could make a friend after all. Makell listens to Coaster (Genevieve) and learns she's heading to the Highwind Woods as well. She says she can walk alongside her, and realizes that maybe she can make friends

He hadn't heard the lion approaching. He should have, he thought. Should have known there was a predator about, should have smelled them. But somehow, he hadn't detected him approach until the lion had leapt over him and landed right in front of him. “Hello, my delicious meat-filled friend!”Jack skidded to a stop, eyes darting around, looking for cover. Too late! - the lion had already crouched. Jack tensed, ready to flee (or fight, if he must), should the lion try and make a move. “I don’t suppose I might ask you for some help?” He inquired with a toothy grin....Jack did not like the look of all those teeth, nope. Not one bit. And yet, against his better judgement, he found himself replying. "...What sort of help?" he asked warily. “I have been on the lookout for some company on this fine day - i’m sure you can relate, being such an awfully small creature in such an awfully large expanse of land…”Jack was about to reply when he noticed the lion seemed to become distracted. Jack quickly sniffed at the air and glanced around, but saw no danger and smelled nothing unusual (except, of course, the lion that was right in front of him with lots of teeth and claws). What, then, had caught the lion's attention? The only other thing he could think of was the shimmering of the lion's mane-- Ohhhhh... Well, then. An easily-distracted predator that appeared to have a vain streak? He could work with this. Sitting back and trying to relax, even just a little, Jack listened as the lion continued with a story of some tracks he had found just over the Invisible Hill behind them while he was on his way to his coronation-slash-wedding, and ended by holding a paw out. “The paw looks remarkably like this. Might I inquire as to whether you have witnessed such a beauty thus far today? It does look to be a mightily delectable print. Of course, you also look mightily delectable, but for quite different reasoning.”"I'm afraid I have not, good sir," Jack replied, bowing. "I can honestly say I have not seen anything like you this day." Jack tensed again at being called "delectable", and instinctively scanned the area for safe places to hide as the lion licked his lips. However a change seemed to come over the lion then, and he seemed to become... almost remorseful? And began to lament about how one should never play with their food. “I bet you have a family, correct? A delicious family that I could devour in one magnificent pounce!”Jack almost didn't see the paw coming, and barely managed to duck in time. "...I do have a family," Jack replied carefully. "But... they live very far from here," he continued, trying to look sad. ( Far enough away that they'd be long gone before you ever saw them, if there's anything I can do about it. he added to himself.) The lion continued on, suggesting that they all dance about his feet whenever he walked (which Jack could already tell was dangerous, predator or not - it sounded like a good way to get stepped on, if you asked him, which no one had, and especially dangerous for the little ones). And then, again, the lion seemed to waffle, and as he did, threw himself down upon the ground where he rolled in the grass, seeming to be in agony as he cried “The life of a predator is much too difficult!”. "...I'm sure it must be," Jack replied, warily eyeing the wallowing predator before him. "Such... responsibility, for one so... majestic as yourself," he added. After a moment, he paused, tilting his head as he remembered something the lion had said before. Something about a wedding...? An idea began to form in his mind. Perhaps if he played his cards right, this could turn out to be fun after all... "...Forgive my brashness, your... Shimmeringness," he addressed the lion, bowing, "but I recall you saying something about a wedding? Might I be correct in so boldly assuming that you have yet to find a bride?" Jack paused, taking a moment to glance around and sniff the air before continuing. "If I may be so bold as to say, I have heard rumours of a tigress of great beauty," he said. "Though not as stunning as you, of course, for such a thing would surely be impossible! Though... if the rumours are true, I dare say she would make perfect companion or one so great as you," he continued, bowing once more. Now all he could do was wait and see what happened, and hope he didn't get eaten in the process. Jack finally replies! He's wary of suddenly being set upon by a lion ( Jayeee ), but tries to take it in stride (and glean information that may prove useful later). Near the end of the conversation, Jack decides to have a little fun and humbly tells the Great and Mighty Calix that he has heard rumours of a tigress of great beauty ( Nova - hi there and I'm sorry/have fun!), and perhaps she would make the perfect bride for one so Great and Wonderful as he is! I'm sure this will have no negative repercussions for Jack whatsoever! =D

Svar screeched. "A human!" he took off into the air, screaming and screeching, his tail fanning out behind him. A single feather fluttered to the ground but Svar did not care. He just wanted to be far away. Except...humans did not have long ears. Or a tail. Or fur, except on their heads. They were another Naelus creature. Though Svar could not recall their name, he had seen them before. Granted, he had seen most creatures on Naelus before: most of them he was around when their grandparents were born. Forcing himself to relax- not an easy feat for someone as high-strung as him- Svar, settled down on his previous branch. "Come out, and don't lurk like that! If everyone is on edge, what do you think we're like?" he called to the beast that was obscured by the foliage. Turning to Kopi, Svar crooned. "It's okay. I just got spooked. I think it's another one of us." Lacintell was startled when one of the creatures, a magnificent firebird, suddenly screeched something about a human, spread its wings and started to take off. One of the two smaller creatures then hid behind the other one. Just seconds later the firebird seemed to relax a bit and called out to the procoptodon. "Come out, and don't lurk like that! If everyone is on edge, what do you think we're like?" Lacintell quickly realized that the firebird was quite anxious about something and that he accidentally startled the creatures. His mind raced as he tried to think up an appropriate response; it was quite an awkward moment for him. "Er, um; I'm terribly sorry," he muttered. "I didn't mean to frighten you all; I was just curious as to who was over here." He stepped forward out of the foliage. As he did, two more creatures appeared out of the woods. A Rhesus Macaque greeted them with a friendly wave saying "Hello fellow citizens! Are you all heading for the meeting?" “Uh, y-yeah, we’re all headed for the meeting,” answered the little brown creature. “I take it you’re going as well?” Then the firebird responded. "If we are all going, perhaps it is best we travel in numbers? With so much going on, it would be safest if we stick together, and all of you seem trustworthy...I think. If I see anything funny from any of you, I am leaving!" It all happened so fast. It seemed Lacintell would no longer travel alone but with a group instead. He didn't want to turn down the offer; it probably would be better and safer to travel with other creatures but the procoptodon was just so unsure if he would be able to socialize with them all effectively. "I... guess it... would be nice if we all went to the gathering together," Lacintell stammered. Lacintell knew he was making the right choice here. He knew that he needed to meet with the other creatures of Naelus; he couldn't spend his entire life alone, he had to get out and socialize. Things were now happening so fast. Lacintell couldn't think of a more eventful time in his life; not since the day his brothers... He paused. Would these creatures he just met accept him? Or would they throw him out for being 'worthless'? These thoughts continued to invade the procoptodon's mind as he travelled with the other creatures. Lacintell apologizes to Celestial for startling him, is greeted by Algernon and René ( Thundy ), and agrees to travel together with them along with Kopi and Tash ( Rabbit ♠ ). As they all go to the gathering, Lacintell wonders about past events and whether he'll be accepted or rejected.

"Oh!" Morag squeaked as Mochi picked her up, though the moon rabbit was gentle and the whole experience was not unpleasant, especially since she was used to it. Due to her tiny size, many animals picked her up, and sometimes in their jaws if they had no hands. "Where are we going, dearie?" The answer to her question soon became obvious as she was deposited onto a very thick, very comfortable branch. “Grasp on tight and don’t let go!” Mochi called to the haggis before picking up the branch and dragged it along by his teeth. "Oh my!" the haggis squealed at the great burst of speed that the moon rabbit put on. She dug in with her tiny claws into the leaves, doing her best to tangle herself up in the leaves so she would not fall. Her fur ruffled in the wind along with her ears, which she squeezed down against her body in order to keep the wind from blowing into them. "Oh my Spirit, this is wonderful, Mochi! So quick and so elegant- oh, watch out!" she called out as the moon rabbit narrowly avoided a branch. "You must be the fastest, or at least one of the fastest creatures on Naelus, my dearie! This is simply magnificent! We will get to the meeting in absolutely no time with this. Oh, I do hope I am not too heavy and not too much of a bother for you to drag. I know I am small but also-" Mochi suddenly took a sharp turn and Morag's round form almost tumbled off the branch. She just barely managed to grab a stray branch and wrap her tiny claws around it, gripping it tightly. Perhaps she should not talk so much and focus on hanging on. All aboard the Mochi train! Shinko

Quicksnap sighed, shaking his head. “I don’t know, but… I don’t think most will come. They’ll want to be together, and mourn. It’s far too soon to expect them to be able to think about things productively.” He thunked his jaws together, making a very loud noise that seemed to pass him for a shrug, as he added, “I could be wrong, though. They might yet surprise us. Acacia, Bluebell, and Heath- that’s her three sisters from an older litter- are thick as thieves and cunning as thieves. Euki- Eucalyptus, her mother- was hell on four paws in her younger days. Tormented a sabertooth cat and got it to chase her for an hour.” He rumbled sadly. “But… I’d wager they’ll all need some time. Before they can think about how to move forward from this.” He sighed, then asked, “So you think you’ll be the only dinosaurs there?” Brooms. You made me name brooms Tiger. How could you? ;A; Also Celes and I agreed that the Mochi/Morag interaction is at a good stopping point for the round. \ o /

“That’s reasonable,” Soaitsae said quietly. “It is a long way to ask a grieving family to go. To talk about the thing they’re grieving over, especially.” “Time and space is good,” Taakeyrr agreed. “Can’t imagine they’d have much to tell us right now, anyway. ...No offence,” she added with an apologetic churrup. “Just...the shock, is all. It’s still fresh.” “So you think you’ll be the only dinosaurs there?”“Hmm...well, with these murders...I’m not sure we will be just us,” Soaitsae mused. “Keeping to our own territory is one thing; ignoring the Spirit’s rules being broken? That’s another.” “The raptors will probably show up, like I said,” Taakeyrr put in. “I’ve seen them around more lately. And there are littler ones that should be concerned a thylacine was a victim. ...The coelophyses will be underfoot if they decide the meeting’s safe, I’m sure.” She shook her head with a few clicks of disapproval, but admitted, “The little gossips will at least make sure any dinosaurs who don’t show up know what’s going on." worldbuilding some of the other dinosaur species? I see no way this could go wrong! They’re only constructed out of wooden poles and straw, what’s the problem?
(also other people are totally free to mention/use other dinosaur species, y’all just know how I am with worldbuilding I have any say in)
Soaitsae and Taakeyr agree it makes sense Beech’s family won’t be at the meeting. Soaitsae says this issue might actually be important enough to draw more dinos out than one would expect. Taakeyrr doesn’t apologize for creating brooms and elaborates a little on what kinds will likely show up.

Quicksnap frowned. “I haven’t seen the raptors around, but I wouldn’t necessarily think to look for them as something odd. Although on the subject of smaller dinosaurs, now that I think about it I’m pretty sure some microraptors were with the other flyers spreading the word of the meeting this morning.” He shook his head roughly, as if embarrassed. “I wasn’t paying attention at the time, except to think that I wanted the little feathered busybodies to push off. But I should probably have taken better note of the ravens that seemed to have a second set of wings. Wonder if they’ll be at the meeting with their bigger cousins.” As he spoke, Quicksnap became aware of the distant rustling in the long grass of the meadow as other animals were passing them a ways off in all directions. The river occasionally splashed as some aquatic creature surfaced on their upstream journey before diving again, and where earlier the skies had been a flurry of feathered bodies headed in all directions, now when a bird passed overhead they seemed to- mostly- all be converging towards the same place. “Hmph. Would almost be an impressive migration if this all weren’t so grim.” Moar dinosaur talk! ( Tiger) Then Quicksnap realizes that the creatures headed for the meeting are starting to pass one another on the way as the mesozoic trio gets further inland away from the coast. And snarks about it ‘cause that’s what he do.

Kohimu nodded. The scimon's chatter was a nice diversion from recent events. "I live on the shoreline below the Waterfall Basin. You can visit any time you like, it's a lovely place. There are lots of other creatures there- including some predator species, you'd have to be careful- but I'm the only taniwha. Well, Te Tai's there as well, kind of, but he stays in the water." Kohimu paused to let her catch up. "You can ride on my shoulders, if you like. Anyway, what's your favourite place you've visited, Roda? Besides home, of course." Kohimu replies to June Scarlet's Roda and, seeing the little creature has to hurry to catch up, asks if she wants a lift! Side note: Kohimu and Te Tai are the only taniwha who live near that shore, yes, but I imagine the island features a couple more taniwha somewhere or other.

--Trigger warning for animals hunting. I have tried to take all the gore out but just thought I’d mention-- Muuri's heartbeat raced. Adrenaline coursed through her system. That was normal before a hunt, but today there was a flightiness to her demeanour as well. Yira was not in her pouch where he should be. It didn't feel safe. Her ears stiffened. Here he was. The giant diprotodon she had known was in the vicinity. And he was making to amble right past her tree. The wind was in the right direction. He could not scent her. She held perfectly still. And she hoped in the Spirit that Yira would keep motionless too. No! Muuri drove that thought from her mind. She couldn't let thoughts of Yira distract her now. She needed her whole attention on this hunt before her. The time right, Muuri dropped from the tree. And without any unnecessary displays of threat leapt right for the giant animal's throat. He stopped in his tracks and bellowed in terror. She was too slow in reacting to the sudden change of momentum and she missed, sailing past and barely grazing him. Heart racing she lunged again but he was ready this time. A giant forepaw shot out and swiped at her. She was knocked from the air and landed heavily against the base of a nearby tree. Groaning she roused herself. It had been a heavy blow. But right now she had no choice to dwell on that. There was a diprotodon before her and she had to dispatch him now, or she and Yira would both die. It was over in a heartbeat. The heavy diprotodon lay dead on the ground in front of her. Still on the alert for danger she allowed her senses to explore her surroundings and found nothing. Nothing but the pain throughout her own body from her heavy impact with the ground and the tree. Gingerly, she walked a full circuit around the carcass, feeling the pain in her every joint. Still there was no danger... Returning to the head of the giant beast Muuri exhaled deeply. She closed her eyes and allowed her consciousness to blend with the land around her. She placed one forepaw gently on the ground in front of diprotodon's head and bowed her head reverently towards him and the earth. "Return in peace to the land galamaay," she said simply, addressing her departed brother. And she breathed on him. With that, Muuri turned back to the tree and her eye found Yira's. She silently bade him to come down and join her. No sooner had the young one's paws touched the ground then he burst forth in a barrage of words mostly to the effect of 'Are you okay mother??' Muuri tiredly held up a paw to stem the flow of concern. "I am fine gaayinggal," she reassured him, "I will recover." Yira eyed her uncertainly. He had never seen his mother hurt like this before. "But you must learn from this my gaayinggal," she added, "never to take your mind off a fight while hunting. Never become distracted." Yira cocked his head to one side curiously. "You were distracted Guni?" he asked, confused. She had looked so focused on the task at hand. "Yes, gaayinggal," she told him, "I was thinking of you." And she padded off towards the kill. Standalone post because I have two seconds of internet to put it up.
Muuri hunts and kills a diprotodon (basically a hippopotamus-sized wombat). Her mind is divided between the task at hand and her concern for Yira and consequently she misjudges a thing and gets hurt. Oops.
Glossary of Gamilaraay terms: Galamaay: brother Gaayinggal: little one Guni: mother

Something moved through the undergrowth. It was not the wind. Dara raised an arm in hopes of catching a scent. It might only have been a small, shy critter. Or a larger, four-hooved one. A bunch of legs and horns flew wildly out of a bush, Inara whinnied beneath Dara and all three were sent crashing to the ground. Dara flung themself off the unicorn's back as fast as their arms could launch them; alas, they were not nearly high enough to glide away. It was all the octopus could do to curl into a ball and roll until they felt the roots of a tree, which they promptly began to climb, scrambling upwards with ripple after ripple of their suckers. Once Dara was high enough to reach for a branch, they paused in their ascension and looked back down, still clinging to grooves in the bark. They took in the embarrassed deer - Recaito - lying next to the unicorn. The bark-brown tone that had flooded Dara's mantle vanished, returning the octopus to their usual russet hue. "Ah, a "deer" friend? What an interesting greeting," they said as casually as they could, though their siphon was still ventilating rather fast. "I suppose it's not always easy to tell a unicorn who is being strangled from a unicorn who is not, hm?" Dara swung themself along the branch to hang above the deer. "Not that I blame you, with the news we've been hearing all day. I'm Dara, by the way." The octopus turned to Inara, letting an arm dangle in her direction, and flinched when they caught a familiar scent. Inara's shoulders and the base of her neck, which had been just as glossy and pearlescent as the rest of her coat a minute earlier, were now smeared with a deep, sticky black. Dara let out a nervous clicking sound. "I'm so sorry! I must have been so startled - I use ink when escaping, you see, but had no time to think, or aim - it washes out, I promise! I will fetch something to clean you up right this instant." How embarrassing. Dara had not accidentally inked in years. The octopus swung themself up a few branches to find a neat hollow in a tree trunk. After a bit of digging, they withdrew a large bivalve shell that emitted rattling sounds, wrapped securely in a leaf with a hole through which Dara placed their arm. They also brought down a large clump of a soft, absorbent moss, and quickly got to work mopping their ink off Inara's coat. Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff) startled Dara so bad that they stained Ginz ❤ with ink. D: (Dangit, Inara looks like one of those clothes that are so light and pristine, you just know you'll stain them on the first day.) Anyway, they're not mad at the deer because murder is scary, and they're mopping up the unicorn. (... If unicorns are unstainable, poke me and I'll edit. >.>)

"...I'm sure it must be," Jack replied, warily eyeing the wallowing predator before him. "Such... responsibility, for one so... majestic as yourself," he added. “Oh, it really is,” Calix said with a groan, still rolling back and forth on the ground. “You prey have absolutely no idea of the ordeals that I am put through on a daily basis. What is someone such as myself supposed to do when there is a tasty treat on my left, and a supple snack to my right?! There’s so much prey to sample and so little time.” He stopped rolling and sat up leisurely. “Not for me though, I think I might be immortal? You know, nobody really tells you these things. How is one to know for certain that their life lasts forever? I once had a delightful acquaintance who was certain of his immortality.” Calix paused for dramatic effect. “But then I ate him, so I suppose that can’t have been true. A pity, really.” "...Forgive my brashness, your... Shimmeringness," he addressed the lion, bowing, "but I recall you saying something about a wedding? Might I be correct in so boldly assuming that you have yet to find a bride?"Calix’s ears twitched. He once more crouched down to face the jackalope directly. “I just knew I was right not to devour you whole. You know, I think having some level of expertise in prey relations would be exceptionally beneficial to my future upon this Island. And I believe that you’re just the little guy for the job. You simply must impart with me your wisdom!” He absent-mindedly stroked his mane with one paw as plans formed in his mind. “Any predator such as myself can tell that your father probably contains the most meat, although I bet that your mother’s is the most supple. But with you by my side, the expert knowledge will bring me new feasts and friends alike!” Calix jumped up and began pouncing around his new friend - gradually flattening the grass surrounding them. "If I may be so bold as to say, I have heard rumours of a tigress of great beauty," he said. "Though not as stunning as you, of course, for such a thing would surely be impossible! Though... if the rumours are true, I dare say she would make perfect companion or one so great as you," he continued, bowing once more.Calix stopped mid-air and crashed to the ground. “Great beauty?!” he exclaimed after spitting out some grass. “You know, I have heard of such a tigress. I once spied her in the distance, but she seemed far too intimi-” “That is to say, I’m unsure if her particular qualities would be compatible as a mate to the leader of Naelus.” “But you do have some incredibly astute views on the world. I am stunning. And great too. Also Majestic. You missed awe-inspiring, though.” Calix’s tail wagged madly in the air. “I think you and I are going to change the world, delicious friend!” Suddenly standing up formally, the lion held out a paw to pat the little creature on the head. “My name is Calix, soon-to-be ruler of this fair land. Now how about we head to my meeting while you regale me with more proclamations regarding how shimmering I am!” Calix decides that having Birdy on his team would increase both his knowledge of prey and his stomach. He is briefly distracted by talk of a tigress, but feels that she is far too scary unsuitable for his tastes. He suggests that they make their way to the meeting, while telling tales of his brilliance.

"Ooh, really, you'd let me hitch a ride? How nice!" Roda scampered up a leg and settled on the shoulders of the taniwha. "My favorite place so far is a crystal crags. It's just so pretty over there. Though if I visit you at the shoreline, who's to say that wouldn't become my new favorite." As Kohimu set off again, Roda gazed at the river. "Te Tai stays in the water, huh? I'm not much of a water creature myself, but sometimes I wish I was. There's apparently a cave in the bluffs, but it's only accessible by water or flight. I've always wanted to see it, though. There's legends about that cave. That's where it's said the great scimon Denzell learned the secret of using rocks to break open nuts, after defeating a cave monster single-pawed. That's one of my favorite Denzell stories." Roda accepts Kohimu's Thorn offer for a ride, and talks a bit more about locations in the island, mentioning a legend about the great scimon hero Denzell.
