I figured this is probably the best place to post this... You all are a pretty tech savvy group here, so I trust you guys on this. And for the most part, I'm fairly tech savvy too. Except when I comes to phones. I still have a flip phone, but am looking to finally upgrade. At which point I will likely donate my current phone to the Cell Phone Museum of Antiquity, or something. Anyway, I refuse to pay "too much" for a phone, but I'm realizing that even for a decent used phone, I'm looking at $200 or more. I've finally come to accept that. I'm considering taking my friend's iPhone 6 off their hands for them, paying abut half way between what they would get on Gazelle and what I'd pay for the same phone on Gazelle. But I'm also considering a used iPhone SE. While I'm not dead-set on an iPhone, I realize it's probably my best option, since I have iTunes, an iPod, and an iPad. I'm famiiar with Apple products, and want to be able to get my music on a phone easily, without having to convert to a new format/program. So... iPhone 6, or iPhone SE? Which will likely be served by Apple for longer? Any other suggestions?

You might have to shop around the various wireless carriers to see what they carry as they'll probably have one or two cheap phones in their stock that are less than $100 (unless you're going back to the same wireless carrier you had your old phone with).
As for the iPhone dilemma, I'm afraid I can't help you there, as I own an Android, so I don't know much about them.

I'm trying to stick with Verizon, as I might (key word there) be able to talk them into a loyalty deal, as my current plan is technically a loyalty plan. Though Verizon will likely deny that and say it's their standard non-data phone plan now. lol
