Hi! So, I literally just joined about 30 seconds ago. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing, so I hope I'm posting in the right spot??
Anyway, my name is Spookie and I've been playing Neopets for about 11 years or so. I like writing, drawing, crying over The Haunted Woods during the Altador Cup, and all that good stuff. I've been published in the NT a handful of times already, as well as the Poetry Contest and Art Gallery. I suck at making friends but joined this forum in hopes for finding people I can chat with people who understand Neopets and the joys/pains of writing!
(I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this, but I think I can since this is a Neo forum??) BUT if you see me on the boards, my username is butterflybandage and I'd love to say hi!
I think that's about it. I'm going to stalk around and see if I can't figure out how all this stuff works, but hopefully this is a place where I can meet some cool cats and hang out!

I'm sure you'll get the hang of everything soon. ^^ The NTWF can be a little hard to navigate at first (at least through my experience), but it's really fun once you know where everything is.

Hey there, Spookie! Nice to meet you, I'm Twillie :3
I can't say I initially recognized your neo username, but it's been a while since I've regularly checked the boards or NT, so I should definitely check out some of your works =D And ooh, art gallery as well? Do you remember the weeks you got in? :3
But yes, there's a number of other people here who indeed know the addiction joys of Neopets, and plenty others with the writing experience, and we're always happy to chat =D If you have any questions or need any help navigating the place, don't be afraid to ask! Hope you enjoy it here ^^

Twillie so sorry for the late response! I had company over and things got a bit hectic. The weeks I got into the AG are: 2496, 2525, 2530, 2531, and 2541. They're honestly not the best examples of my art, but it's fun working on stuff and improving! Week 2530 was for Slorg Day, and that's probably my favorite piece that's been accepted so far. I'm still learning my art program (Sai) so I don't have everything totally figured out, but I enjoy the learning and critiquing process!

Hi, Spookie! Nice to meet you, and welcome to the NTWF! ^^ You've definitely come to the right place where all of us Neo and art/writing lovers hang out. :3 So I hope you'll have a lot of fun here! *Takes a look at your Art Gallery entries* You have a really cute style! I like the expressions. The background on your Slorg Day picture is really pretty - I love how you blended the colors for the night sky. *o* And of course, the slorgs are a couple of cuties. :3 *also admires the twinkling shooting star* And your Pixel Tuskaninny! Whoa! How did you accomplish that texture? Don't tell me you manually made all those dots... Also, I can't help but see Baymax's face in the button eyes, lol. Anyway, hope to see you more around the forum and chat! ^^

Spookie No worries ^^ This reply is a little late as well, so lol I couldn’t complain even if I wanted to x3 Ooh~! Thanks for sharing ^^ I like the painterly look a lot of those pics have, exemplified by the Slorg Day entry you mentioned :3 You mentioned working on stuff through the AG, is there any specific technique or style you have or are working on, or is it more general practice you’re referring to? I’m always curious what avenues other artists are exploring, it’s cool learning their interests that way, or picking up new techniques as well along the way :3 And ooh, hope SAI treats you well! I used that program for a bit, and it was really nice :3 I love its line art, and is selection tool is A+ But yeah, if you ever have questions about it, I know a number of others here as well have or do use it, and we’re always happy to chat :3

charming thievery yes, I did do those all by hand. I'm a glutton for punishment, apparently ... that was before I realized you could use the bucket tool for textures haha! AND I NEVER NOTICED BAYMAX BUT NOW THAT'S ALL I'M GOING TO SEE OMG. BH6 is one of my favorite movies, so maybe it was subconscious?? Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff) hi!! Whoo, hopefully you enjoyed whatever silly poems got accepted. I'm not as much a perfectionist with my poetry as I am with other things, but it's always nice seeing the other great work you managed to get published with, hehe. Twillie thank you! I would LOVE to learn how to do the painting technique where you color block then blend, if that makes sense? I think it's more popular with Photoshop, but it's so gorgeous and I haven't quite gotten the hang of blending. And I totally agree!! I love it when other artist explain how they get the texture/atmosphere/etc or when they start delving into new stuff that makes their art transcend to a totally new level of awesomeness. The Line Art in Sai is what sold me, to be honest. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make the purchase but I watched a tutorial with the Line Art and straight up bought it that day, haha! And thank you so much!! I'll definitely take you up on that offer if I get stuck, which will inevitably happen ;o;

Spookie Ooh, I think I might know what you're referring to? I'm not much of a painter myself, traditionally or digitally, so I at least have an idea in my head x3 But yeah, now that you mention it, I can definitely tell that that's an effect you've been working for in the entries you mentioned! And ooh yeah, for sure! Usually when I see an art piece I like, I try to break down how the artist went about creating it, but especially with digital pieces, that can be difficult to figure out, so I always love hearing how they do it :3 And yess, it's amazing what just one extra layer of experimentation or depth can add to something! Seeing as I'm an admitted non-painter, I couldn't speak for the programs, but I've heard before that Photoshop is actually not as user friendly as far as blending goes. The Sai marker works wonders for quick blending and soft strokes, especially with skin! Best personal example I can think of is this piece I made, with all of the shading done with the marker. So along with the great line art, you can get some really nice shading and painterly effects :3 And yeah, no problem! Feel free to ask whenever that may happen :3
