Thank you for the advice, Gelquie. I will keep it in mind should I proceed to comment.

Finals has been upon me this past week and the coming one, so I really haven't been able to read much of the prologue at all yet. I'll be catching up when I can, but for right now there's not much for me to say x3

Just tossing in my two cents - so the premise of this event was "we use group chat to help keep new readers excited to continue." If the vets posting their stuff works for the newcomers and keeps them invested, cool beans. If not...it kind of defeats the purpose of the event and maybe that bears some addressing. That's my main concern with not seeing a lot of posts from new readers - that this might not be working for them even though that was its purpose.
It's early in so maybe that'll change once there's more story to work with, and yeah, stuff like finals and holidays might be getting in the way, too - it's just a bit of a concerning start, especially when it's likely we'll lose people as we go just because Life is a jerk sometimes. Just a perspective I wanted to throw out there.

I mean, that's the thing; it's still pretty early in xD; That combined with finals and holidays, there's only so much newcomers can say right now. Plenty of people have also expressed that this first chapter is not that representative of the roleplay, and that it's rather scattershot, so a number of us might just be holding out on real meaty reactions for when things start kicking off.
On the flip side, it's kind of concerning to me that problems are already coming up regarding newcomer's post count, like there's an expectation on how much we're supposed to participate. Because really, I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm just taking this really casually, and if I have something to say, I'll be sure to say it when the time comes x3;
To me, this event is just: people who didn't participate in Medieval read Medieval. And this thread is for whatever discussion that may follow. I don't think there's really any specific or higher purpose to this thread, whether veterans be responsible for hype or newcomers responsible for comments; it's just here as a resource.
And I do understand that this is an important roleplay to a lot of its participants with a lot of fond characters, but I guess I'm just at least asking to give it some time. Things can't always be consistently hype, and it'll take us a bit to get on the same level as veterans in terms of fondness towards Medieval. A lot of posts so far have been veterans reminiscing with each other, or adding onto the ton of info to absorb with this first chapter, and while all very interesting, I can't really join in on all the feelings yet. Because admittedly, Medieval has always kinda felt like the Exclusive Cool Club to me, and now that I'm finally getting into it, I'm just taking it easy at first x3

Very quickly since I’m at work... Following a suggestion I’ve decided to rename the “Interest Check” thread to “Admin” thread. General idea being that discussion about the event can go on that thread and discussion about the story that we’re reading can go on this thread. That said the line will be pretty blurry at times and when something like our recent discussion springs up organically on this thread I’m not going to be legalistic about saying we should move it to the other thread. But if you feel it would be better to move a discussion to the admin thread so as not to clutter this one please go ahead and do so. (For example this is a very admin-y post but I’m putting it here for continuity’s sake) But yes, please carry on discussing and/or reading as interested or able

I do agree with Tiger, that I am worried about losing people early on, and I am just as keen as anybody else to hear what people think about this RP I am so very fond of. At the same time, I do feel like constant pressure for newbies for feedback isn't going to help solve anything. This is supposed to be a fun event, us Medieveterans hovering over people's shoulders asking "so, what did you think?" is not going to help that.
Let's also be honest, while the first round is fun, it is also nothing to write home about. The features that set this RP apart from all the others, at least for me, are not yet there, and the momentum on the story is not yet getting going. There's not really much to comment on aside from "I liked it", and I feel like a lot of us, being writers, don't find that substatial (though just for the record, I would like to say that "I liked it" is fine by me. I understand sometimes words are hard and it is difficult to find a specific thing to talk about).
So yeah. No pressure, everyone. ^^ You read at your own pace (because thankfully, you don't have to compete against the insane round deadlines we had) and have fun. If you feel like commenting on something, great. If not, cool too. Just enjoy things. In the meantime, we, the old hands, can always tease you with cool stuff to come. x3
(Also, just for the record, I am cool with any feedback, even negative. If it is negative, my response will either be "it will get fixed later in the RP", or *insert long rambly explanation defending things but in a positive way to hopefully expand upon the character*, or "yep, that's a thing.")

While the majority of Admin posts will go on the other thread, I will keep round updates here to keep things easy for people following along with the discussion thread so we know where the discussion is up to. Begin:
We will embark on reading the next chapter a week from now: Wednesday 20th December Let’s read, discuss, reminisce and be merry

Leftover comment from Round 1 but... The post where Ruth hits Kelcey on the head is probably the most important post in the entire RP. Without it, or more specifically the head injury Kelcey received, events probably not have gone the way that they have.
What do I mean, newbies? You'll see. :3 Also, "Rusty Steele" is a great name for a blacksmith. ( Layla "Nimbus" Karimi, even if I don't know if you'll read this)

Oh goodness, this round. XD This round was a hoot. A few comments from skimming: The rivalry with Joffery and Garrick officially begins. JayeeeAlso Kelcey's crush on Jeniver, that was fun, lol. I can guarantee her parents wouldn't be okay with that relationship. AveryGood thing I reread the bit about Calvin Magerage wearing blue, since I was just thinking of drawing a color pic of him XD What did you say, man XD (Within earshot of your daughter no less, for shame) Also the beginning of the maid-maybe-assassin, good times Liou calls Ambrose a senile old man, ouch, Joff CelestialAlso the beginning of the much more subdued Everett and Alain rivalry, good times Overall this was a fun round, haha. Oh Coaster looks like there's a broken Photobucket image in one of your posts, btw: ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2604684

Thank you for letting me know; if I remember correctly it was just an avatar-sized character shot of Ancel (re-attached here because Photobucket is wut).

Alrighty, so the haze of finals week is starting to die down; today is basically crunch time for an art project, and then tomorrow I've got a final in the morning and a drive home. So, I should be back on track with this by Saturday, where I'm planning on giving thoughts on the first chapter, plus any initial impressions of the current one! Sooooon~

XDDD Poor Kirin, I forgot he got squished. KillixAlso Garrick. Oooooh Garrick. I knew this was coming, but somehow I'd forgotten the bit where he sits in the laps of every woman in the cathedral. ( PFA, how did Helena take it?)

( PFA, how did Helena take it?) Helena was very scandalized, I'm pretty sure. XD Charles was not happy at all.
(Jeniver's parents btw, for anyone new reading this lol)

Unfortunately, I'm not completely caught up with Chapter 1 yet, but alas I cannot stay up late tonight as I have to get up at stupidly-early-o'clock for work tomorrow. For now, though, I shall give my thoughts on what I have been able to read, and hopefully I'll get more reading time in when I'm back home tomorrow ^^ Right off the bat, I can say that things I didn't even know I had questions about before suddenly make a lot more sense. Namely, the actual goal of the game, which is for one of the factions to gain control of the throne. I knew about Jade and Stallion houses, but had no idea what either really meant xD Also, the fact that Jade is magic while Stallion is tech distinguishes them even more now! Good to know~ I'm curious, were certain roles supposed to be kept secret, or was that sort of at the discretion of the player? Because so far, some of the characters' roles are very clear based on their intro post, while others I know from past glances aren't revealed until the very end. And now in no particular order: Lizzie Haha, I love how twisted Karma is xD “Do you think I could maybe have his eyes?" Jayeee Hoo boy, now that HC has taught me what a Jay character really is, I am ready for whatever Garrick has to toss my way xD (speaking of, how long has this Jay character tradition been going on?) Celestial Lol, that MLP reference, Ambrose x3 Are you sure that's the future you're seeing into, and not the fourth wall? x3 Regarding Ambrose and Alain, though, I know you mentioned that they suffer from Early Character Syndrome, but so far I'm pretty intrigued by their dynamic. I had fun with their first post, and both of them sound like they've got a lot of story to reveal and go through. So, if it only gets better from here, then I'm interested to read it :3 Also: "Garrick, the son he was least likely to miss" Loool Gelquie Ooh, what's this about a Mafia III reference with Aunt Clare, and does it have anything to do with the interestingly-named Lesbian dish? x3 Dunno if I should spoiler this or not, but eh why not x3 I know what's to come, I just don't know when, so maybe it's already underway in the reading x3 But I'm very curious about the story behind Elin and Xavier. I remember you mentioning before that a relationship wasn't planned for Elin, it just sort of happened, and I'm assuming that's the same for Xavier, so I'd love to hear about that sometime, on when and how it may have happened xD Was it this early on that the decision to go that route was made, or are the two's interactions in this first chapter the precursor to all that? Also Elcie Coaster Ooh, Kaldora's design was always one that intrigued me beforehand, I'll be curious now to know her character better! I've read just your first post for now, so just to make sure I understand, her actual identity/species is a secret for now? I interpreted her elven backstory as just a character she created, so what she says she is to others right now is not really that? Ginz ❤ Ooh, I wonder if there really is any foundation to Corinne's belief that she's royal/somehow Fate reborn! I'm not quite familiar with her character yet, so perhaps it's just that she's the type who's more likely to believe in/want the far-fetched, but for now, cool concept! Although wait a minute I know there's a drunk role and my faint memories are telling me Corinne is that, so lol if that's right I can only imagine the shenanigans that will ensue if she's constantly drunk while trying to act royal x3 If I didn't tag you this time, never fear! I either haven't gotten to your character yet/haven't read enough to say much rn/ran out of time because it's getting late x3 But again, soon I shall be caught up!

Because so far, some of the characters' roles are very clear based on their intro post, while others I know from past glances aren't revealed until the very end. Lawlz, just gonna confirm here that with the exception of the merchants, everyone's role was meant to be a secret from the get-go. The peasant's roles (aside from the original shadows) were revealed over time, but the original faction members were all meant to be hush-hush. Some of 'em were just really bad at downplaying their roles. =D And the ones who I'm talking about know who they are, luv u gaiz. < 3
