Bit of catch up from the previous round. Celestial Morgaine just wanted to protect one person maaan. XD PFA Ahaha, sorry not sorry for having Morgaine ruin ya'll's escape plans. She is a Mom. Now, for the present. Aaaaah this round is where things got... exciting. If you're wondering about this plotline that seems a liiiittle out-of-nowhere, it came about in part because up to this point the various factions weren't antagonizing each other enough to give the story much tension. Or in laymen's terms, nobody was doing murder and the goderators got bored of our too-nice-for-our-own-good shenanigans. XD So boom, now we got ourselves a set of designated antagonists. Now, feedback. \ o / Rosalie Dylas (Maddy) Ahh, I really had fun with the collab in this round. Got to show the bond between Morgaine and Rosalie, when they aren't bickering or snarking each other. Lizica Ahahaha, this is where Aldrich starts to… step up as a Shadow. That’s all I’ll say about that. Tiger ...For ‘Woo’s sake, it’s a kitchen! How much furniture can there be in there to break? The confrontation was, of course, fun. Xavier has ALL OF THE FRIENDS in ALL OF THE FACTIONS. Meanwhile poor Morgaine was wandering around town trying to find some relevance. XD I wonder if anything will come of that soon, hmmm.I just find this line really funny, I’m sorry. XD

The confrontation was, of course, fun. Xavier has ALL OF THE FRIENDS in ALL OF THE FACTIONS. IIRC, this is where we the players all realized he had a friend in every faction for the first time XD Xavier was a friend-making machine that week!!

C: “But sometimes there is a calm before the storm” Me: “Naaaaah, I’m gonna almost kill Morgaine guys, hope nobody minds.” Feedback! Tiger Ahhhh Leif’s recurring dream that Definitely Isn’t Symbolic Nope. Poor nerdmage, that doesn’t seem fun at all. Coaster Pixie I don’t think she would’ve reciprocate even if she wasn’t kissing dragons, Angel. Avery Lol, you know when you have lines like “Man against shark, woman against shark, child against shark, it was all great fun!” Is it any wonder people were skeptical of Courdonians being anything but horrible in the expanded universe for so long? XD PFA Jeniver helping!!!! Coaster Pixie Gelquie Elcie Liou Rosalie Dylas (Maddy) So. Much. Kissing. XD Celestial This was a fun collab, although Alain’s rather on the nose comment about “I hope you learn some valuable lessons from this" made my brain go “Dear Princess Celestia l” Elcie Killix PFA Tiger Pixie Thanks for not letting Morgaine get murderated by Knifedude! I’m sure she won’t return the favor with weird inconvenient meta knight actions!

Twillie Reiqua, little suggestion from a Medieveteran- for the upcoming round 12.5, I recommend extending it to a week and a half, if not two weeks. It's up to you, of course, but 12.5 is the climax of the game so the posts therein were very, very long, and very intense. XD

And time for the next chapter! We will begin reading the next chapter on approximately: Wednesday 28th March 2018
And as it was suggested, since this round is the climax, an extra week will be given to read it! See you at the end the end of the month, and for now get to reading! =D

\ o / Wooo, hype! So fun fact, this round was the first round back in maingame that I drew a character avatar for. Up until this point I was just wearing a neopet as my avatar. XD Because comparison is fun, here is that original image. And the new image I made for my avatar now! (Please forgive some sloppy linework here, still getting used to using a tablet.)

Also, a separate post from me to say right now that, while this event will technically be ending in a couple weeks, I am in no way going to be finished reading Medieval by then xD
The extended two week time for this past round was much appreciated in that it gave even more time to catch up, but between me being a slow reader anyway getting through a very difficult to read format of story, and just busy-ness keeping me from posting reactions alongside that, two weeks just won't be enough for me.
So basically what I'm getting at is that just because the event is technically ending soon does not mean that is the end all point. I'll still be reading until I actually get through everything, however long that might take, and I still want to give proper reactions along the way, as I'm sure others do as well. So posts and reactions even after the last round of reading are welcome! (or at least, they better be, since I'll be giving them >w>)

idk if i'll have time to do a full-scale director's commentary for this behemoth of a concluding chapter but i do want to toss out a few fun details (spoilers, of course, i cannot stress the amount of spoilers that are about to unfold within) Avery and i had planned from the getgo to space out this entire sequence at the top of the conclusion; given how much hype we had built for the groupchat, we knew that people would need time to pace reactions and to freak the heck out over each beat that we crafted. to go from - house stallions' harebrained assassin scheme (hashtag breadandwhine hashtag neverforget),
- directly to malik attacking destiney,
- directly into the two of them falling off raven's keep tower,
- directly into the revelation that aldrich was the heir,
- directly into maia coming out to thread that narrative needle at the end of the narratorposts
in the span of a single post, would have been absolutely buckwild. so we knew we had to space that out and give people room to breathe. it definitely helped. i would have to go back and look at the chatlogs but those thirty minutes in between avery's first post and the second, silent comic one saw everyone in the chat sitting on straightup tenterhooks. it was great. (fun fact! back when these images were hosted on photobucket before photobucket got dumpy, the image url for the first comic was /medieval/comic-part-1.png, and me being the extra person that i was, i was paranoid that someone would figure that out in the half-hour in between our two posts, so NATURALLY my solution was to upload the second comic with a different naming convention. anyone who tried to look up /medieval/comic-part-2.png thinking they could spoil themselves would end up seeing this image: i don't know if anybody actually tried to game the system that way but i guess that the moral of the story here is don't try to get a leg up on 2014!me because they were unnecessarily extra an unnecessary amount of the time) anyways how about those comics! those comics took me a lot longer to draw than i would like to admit. a good chunk of that i attribute to the fact that adobe illustrator is not meant to be a comic-making software so i had to figure out how to make that work, but i think more than that i wasn't sure what the actual arc of the story would be in those moments. a picture is worth a thousand words, and in this game that was so heavy on words to suddenly cut to silence for even just a few panels, meant that we had to make that stick. It was the mental image of a long-scrolling bottom panel just, shattering, with destiney and malik flung through the bottom (in a hypersaturated color palette, where everything beforehand had been muted) that really cemented the direction i wanted to go. i remember that a couple of people (i think stal was maybe one?) were reading from their phone, so they had read the entire textwall, but the image for the comic at the end of part 1 hadn't loaded properly for them; so when part 2 came up and it was just that second comic, everyone was freaking out but some people who didn't have the full context were freaking out. what a good time. whoops this ended up being longer than i thought it would

(And I kind of like the idea that we only know about as much as anyone in canon knows and that it was just as much of a shock for us as it was for them).
Also 2014!Icon's extra-ness was amazing - I didn't even think to try checking for another comic, but that's an awesome "punishment" for anyone who did try it XDD

We're at the last chapter, but as I said last week, this does not mean the event is done for good! Since readers are at different spots in the story, this thread will still be open to reactions, questions, extras, and the likes to whoever would like to post!
To those who have finished, I hope this reading was a fun look back or entry into the world Medieval, and to those still reading, here's to all the excitement that lies ahead!

Random ending spoiler things ahoy, please be advised~ To be honest, sometimes I still go back and read the narrator posts for the last two rounds, just because they're so well written and executed, and they have so much adrenaline packed in from everything happening in and around them. (And admittedly I can also be biased because I still sometimes get giddily excited that Aldrich had such a crazy role in all this, aaaaaugh. XD) But my point is that they're awesome posts and fill me with squee and silent screaming and utter heartbreak. ='D ...These climax and post-climax rounds, man. -- Aftermath round: >_> I've always kind of regretted the wording of this section a bit, because the way Babewyn frames the Shadows' reasoning sort of trivializes their struggle. They're so much more than just "cool kids" (even though many of them are, obviously), and their wanting their voices heard is a lot more nuanced and full of hardship than Babewyn makes it sound here. There's probably a reason why Babewyn isn't made a diplomat. xD ...Anyway, Shadow Council, I hope you finally have some better PR managers now. (We can stop smashing priceless heirlooms and such, wooo)-- Also, to whom it may concern, I wrote this short post-canon snippet in late 2014/edited early 2015. I only showed it to the Shadows because it felt sort of self-praising, but...eh, I guess I might as well share it, take it as you will. It's how I'd like to imagine King Galateo's reign, anyway. “He’s rather strange,” he said. “He appeared to be drenched by a cloud of dust, and his hair looked a terrible mess, as if a flock of birds nested in it. You would probably think him a very silly, very absent-minded king,” he said.
“Oh?” said the other. “That’s quite unfortunate.”
But the first went on. “No, no,” he said. “I mean that King Galateo seems a vapid king, well-meaning and scatterbrained—but in truth—I’m not so sure.”
“Well, then,” said the second, getting a little exasperated. “Then what is he?”
“He’s…” said the first, pausing, tasting his words. “He’s a white coal. You look at it and think it nothing but rocky ash, spent and cold, fire gone, unable to do anything but be crushed. But he’s warm; he’s a white coal newly turned; just the beginning of the invisible flame, with something subtle, something powerful within, something that has the ability nevertheless to set others aglow, giving life to a fiery dance where once only dead, dry logs lay before.”
The man sat down upon the rock and sifted through his bag, drawing out his canteen of water.
“He seems a good man. Yet I could not help but get the impression that if I mishandled him or underestimated him, I’d be burned.”
“That could just be the living stones that I’ve heard tales about,” said the second skeptically.
“Perhaps,” said the first again. “But if you’d been there, I rather think you’d see what I mean. Those living stones—they jest with him, and belittle him, and laugh with him. But you can see it in their eyes, though they be but carved, a flame bursting in their gaze, so alive, so fiercely loyal to the king in spite of how they seem to treat him. And perhaps that was another thing that struck me of King Galateo: that someone so unimposing, so lost and doleful in appearance, could somehow command such respect from such wild creatures of stone. It’s…it’s true what they say about him. He is very odd, though not always for the reasons they claim. When he offered his assistance at the meeting, he spoke gently, yet with something I feign call wisdom, even sadness or compassion, after he listened to me.”
“So, he did listen to you?”
“He did, very intently.”
“Then say nothing else. If King Galateo listened to you, then all your overblown analogies and analysis of character can convince me little more. A king that listens, well and truly, is a king that strives to understand, and a king that strives to understand is a king that learns and leads. A king that listens is a king that makes others feel valued, and in making others valued becomes himself valued in how he himself values his own people. That is how he lights others aflame into life: By offering them the value which they already possess, they are inspired to do their best. Through listening, that is where wisdom without experience grows. And if what you say is true, then perhaps this very strange, very silly, very absent-minded-seeming man can yet become a great king.”
Anyway, as you were! *thumbs up* =D
