Uh, so I don't mean to sound annoying or impatient, but should I be concerned if I haven't heard anything about my entry as of this writing? I sent it in two weeks before the deadline and I made sure to specify it was for the collab in the comments box, but I haven't received any Neomail regarding it yet, whether held over, rejected, or accepted. I noticed that most of the people here that have posted about held overs / acceptances sent in articles or comics. Do short stories just take a little longer to get back to these days? You can try sending nt_editor a neomail about it.

Blueysicle I haven't heard of a delay on short stories these days, no, so I'm not sure why your entry might be taking longer. Dunno if Scrappy is following a pattern on the types of entries she's sending letters for, or if she's just slowly chipping away at it all. IIRC, for special issues in the past, people were getting letters up until the day before publication about if they got in or not, so it could also be that the preparation for the issue is taking up time as well. But yeah, if you're concerned about it, then no harm in sending a nm to Scrappy just to make sure she sees it in time!

Blueysicle If it's any consolation, I sent in my short story on time as well and it hasn't received a response either. Might be they haven't looked at them yet? But neomailing is a good option too! ^^

Dear Flutter, Congratulations! Your entry (Doe's Explosive Reunion) has been selected to appear in a future issue of the Neopian Times. A shiny trophy has been added to your user lookup. Thank you for contributing to the Neopian Times! _______ on the note of things being late- Mine was pretty much ignored for Monsters and Ghouls but then included in the Halloween Issue. So you could be held up for another issue? It feels like a kick in the gut to have your entry ignored though And mine was with CQ, I haven't had Scrappy ignore me yet. So this could be a different situation, TBH.

I did bring up a concern early on in the planning stage of this collab that I felt like my entry was a bit thin on adhering to the theme of Reunions. Without going into a lot of detail, it centers on two characters that had just reunited with one another recently, but the story itself discusses much more about their previous separation than their reunion. I dunno, perhaps Scrappy agrees and that's why I haven't heard anything? Or could be that my "short" story... is kinda sorta on the long side. As in it's about 250 words under the word limit. I uh... have a bit of a problem keeping my writing concise. I kinda hesitate to Neomail Scrappy about my story because ultimately, despite my bit of worrying, I have a feeling it's probably more to do with the fact that she's just really, really busy juggling both the plot and the Neopian Times. And if it is the case that she just simply hasn't gotten to it yet, I feel like I'd just be pestering her by asking about it.

In that case, maybe a quick, "I'm sorry to bother you when you're so busy, but just in case, I wanted to let you know that I submitted an entry called 'Title here' for the collab issue. If you haven't had the chance to see it yet, no worries, feel free to publish it in another issue."
Or something similar. I don't think she'd mind a heads-up, it's not like you're sending multiple Neomails in a week asking.

On a happy note, article held over!

Well, I guess I was panicking for nothing. (Not complaining, of course) First time I've been in the Neopian Times in almost four years. Feels pretty good. Now I just need keep myself from getting another years-long bout of writer's block. XD
