Thanks for posting Rosalie Dylas (Maddy)! I can certainly add you to the opt in list so you can see any reactions that people might want to send your way - still not sure if we'll have a lot of that tagging reactions sorta thing happening just yet (on my part at least it might be all I can do to keep up with the reading!), I guess we'll find out, but it's good to have the option! Thanks also for your enthusiasm for the project! I'm pretty keen myself because it's evidently gonna be a great story to have had such an impact on so many people

So I just found out about this today. Count me definitely in for being tagged (I was a NPC for this so I'm not outright tagged in the first post) but I am so excited for this! I will probably keep up for reactions and I may even read along if I have time -- depends on where December takes me (as I will have finals and all that). But yeah!

Poking my head in again to say I'm definitely up for being tagged in stuff! I'm still very very fond of my boy Xavier and can't wait to see people's reactions to him (and my NPCs). Playing him was such a wonderful experience, it'll be fun to relive it through all of you. x3

Yes I have!! It’s been the first of December here for a while already... but I have had a very long, very crazy day and literally just got home after fourteen hours and crashed to bed... (should probs eat something but meh) So the answer is I’ll get the discussion board up tomorrow morning probably, ie about 12 hours from now And I think that’s all we’ll need before we can make a start! I figured we didn’t need too much extra time for fanfare and hype, we’ve probably got enough! And to allay any concerns about notice and timing we’ll be taking two weeks (ie, a double length timeslot) over the first instalment anyway so that should give everyone who wasn’t watching this like a hawk time to get on board too Looking forward to it guys!

Just a handful of Admin things I’d been meaning to post for a while... there are one or two people who expressed interest but wouldn’t have got a ping when this event kicked off (my bad! Humblest apologies :/) So a few quick tags: Secondly (and this is something I’ve been meaning to post for about a week so please try not to read too much into it in light of recent discussions) I just wanted to quickly highlight to our wonderful Mediveterans that while this event was originally conceived of for those who might want to read Medieval for the first time, the vast majority of those who have expressed interest are in fact Mediveterans themselves... my suggestion is that this event might not end up being a predominantly a feedback session from new readers to old writers but I think we should all decide to make the most of whatever it becomes, even if that’s based heavily on fond reminiscences from Mediveterans. Also, to those new to the world of Medieval, please don’t feel a crippling pressure from Mediveterans to have to post and give everyone feedback. I’m sure they don’t want to put that pressure on us! If it’s all you can do to keep up with the reading, by all means do that, and just make comments if and when you get a chance Happy reading everyone!! EDIT: Third admin thing (knew I’d forgotten something) Twillie has kindly agreed to be a backup person for me. Mostly the event should run itself but if real life causes me to go awol and not update info about what chapter we’re meant to be up to, Twillie will edit in that information for me. So if you see her doing so and are worried that she might be treading on my toes, she’s not (: Thanks lovely Twillie

Thanks Reiqua. <3 I ended up deciding not to take part, but I've been reading the contributions so far and it's fun seeing the excitement from first-time readers and mediveterans alike.

Not a worry Thorn, I figured that was likely but thought I shouldn’t make such assumptions just in case - I hope you can continue to enjoy that

Wasn't sure where to put this because the conversation is jumping between threads. But finally decided here because I think Reiqua wanted the discussion off the story-discussion thread. XD
I wasn't going to respond again in the interest of not dragging out the "debate" that was unintentionally started with my comment, but I just want to clear up any false impressions. I feel like there's some unfair disparaging going on when we really meant no harm. X'D We are definitely not out to put "crippling pressure" on anybody, nor were we asking for specific feedback on anything in particular. We don't want our egos stroked, I promise. I know I for one am mostly just excited to share our fun big universe's origins with people for whom the experience is new.
And to be fair, the mediveterans making comments about "being excited for what new people say" isn't unfounded, nor is it really fishing for compliments. X'D I'm sorry if it came off that way, but given the original premise of the event-
"to do something a bit like a book club, you sign up and undertake to try and read one chapter a week (eg) and we have a thread where we can discuss and speculate and enjoy the writing and the story together."
-I and probably others sorta took it as a given there would be conversations had. I am sorry if it felt like we were pressuring people, that wasn't the intention. I think somewhere down the line there was just a miscommunication, or perceptions were different between different people as to what was supposed to be happening or how structured this would be on the whole. So please, by all means take from this event, the game, and the story whatever you wish, and if you don't want to post commentary, that's your choice too. But please don't look poorly on the veterans just for being excited to share what we love.

So the plan is to start reading the next chapter on Wednesday... In terms of timing for that chapter, I’m wondering if we should allow two weeks?
On the one hand a lot of people might feel it goes a little slow when we take two weeks over a chapter, and then on the other hand there’s possibly an argument to be made that these might be a fairly busy two weeks comprising Christmas and New Year’s...
Did anyone else have any other thoughts or opinions on this front?

Reiqua Hmmm. Round 3 was one of the quieter rounds in and of itself, but even so it might not be a bad thing to kinda hold off and give it some extra time, just to allow the folks who're behind to catch up. Round 3 not being super dense means even if folks are still in round 2 or even 1, they should hopefully have time to catch up. Which is good because Round 4 is... =D

Thanks to those who gave some input on this question I have decided to go with two weeks for this chapter. I toyed with the idea of doing a week and a half for each of the next two chapters but that would put the changeover on New Years and I didn’t want that. For those who are Mediveterans and are just loosely following along, or who are faster readers generally, I hope you won’t find the extended time on this chapter too frustrating. I think it will be helpful for those of us who are not fast readers, or for whom real life tends to get in the way. I don’t expect this extra long chapter slot to be indicative of the pace in the longer term, merely a one off extension for the busy time of year. But if anyone does have concerns for whatever reason (about this or anything else) you are of course most welcome to voice them here and we can troubleshoot All that said, chapter three starts now for two weeks. Let’s read!

Update that the event has moved on to the next chapter (chapter 4) \o/ I completely blanked in the moment on how long a normal round lasts, so if it is not a week and someone actually remembers the right time, please let me know so I can fix the date x3
