You could use creative made-up silly swears, that's always fun!

I was also considering a nurse doing a stint in a local aged care facility, but then I'd be writing the old people too, and they'd be Wrightonians I imagine, and probably with a lot of relevant knowledge so that might not be an npc kinda role... Ah heh, there's no old folks' home on the map yet, is there (and no kindergarten either, now that I think about it). Honestly the idea of a nurse interacting with the elderly who might be able to drop insights into Wrighton's really rather messy history sounds like a fascinating concept to me. There's no restriction on the background of NPCs and we should be able to run with most of anything you'd make the old people say or do. * * * Alrighty, with the game looming ever closer, this felt like a good time to throw a PSA out there, because we have at least a few nonbinary characters on board and there've been issues with misgendering in the past, and I'm a jaded admin with ten years of experience mopping up said issues, so this is my ounce of prevention. The rules on characters' genders and the addressing thereof, for general convenience: * If you deliberately misgender someone else's character (or someone else, obvs), I will give you an exasperated look and smack you upside the head with a swordfish. (If you accidentally misgender someone, well whoops, it happens, that's what the edit button is for and no need for anyone to dwell on that.) * If you attack someone else for misgendering your character, I will also give you an exasperated look and smack you upside the head with a swordfish. * If you attack someone else on behalf of a person whose character got misgendered, I will also give you an exasperated look and smack you upside the head with a swordfish. * basically, any possible combination of "misgendering" and "acting like a prat" will result in exasperated swordfish. Also see "being civil to each other at all times", also see "forum rules in general". * Also, if you at any point consider writing your character as deliberately misgendering someone as a character trait so as to make them a jerk/ignorant/behind-on-times or whatnot... you know what, let's not go down that road. Same applies to racism and homophobia and all other things that fall under this general concept. I'm sure there's a way to do that well and get a nicely rounded flawed character out of the deal, but it's tricky business at the best of times, feelings can get hurt, and if they do, I'm the one who'll have to mop it up, probably with swordfish. Leave that kind of writing experimentation for some other time. ...on that bubbly and upbeat note, who's hype for some game? =D *crickets chirp*

icon Ari looks so cute in your drawing, I love her big poofy hair! Her rollerskates are awesome! Celestial Gelquie Alexis looks really confident and outdoorsy with those practical boots and backpack and the short hair, it looks so thick and even the t-shirt is about nature! so this is honestly an exercise in "if I make up a generic anime OC with the generic traits I like to draw will I be able to make myself get attached to and draw them instead of always soul imprinting on other people's fictional characters and then getting upset when other people interpret them differently because I've never had an actual OC in my life" tbh probably not but hey my character Aster whom I was going to try not to make blond and fair like every other character I draw but then whoops (also all my characters default to being artists but that's not unfair if most of the people I know are artists right ..he paints little landscapes in his book of places he's been but i'm not sure if it's going to be relevant) + bonus fanart of Itzel because her hair is too lovely and swirly: again I have no idea what I'm doing and not sure how long I'll stick around once actually writing comes into play :'D

My character is the fiduciary Christian Vu, son of the popular Wrighton-based novelist Fabienne Vu. He's not particularly remarkable, except for his skill at dealing with things. Need a retirement fund but haven't started saving until 50? He'll deal with it, he's got you covered. Things tight, and you can't afford the rent? He'll deal with it. Need to fund a new expansion for your dingy business? He'll deal with it.
He makes a good amount of money, good enough, anyway, to buy the sheer amount of clothes he walks out of the clothing shop with every so often. It's rare for an article of clothing to grace him once or twice before he just gets bored with them. People see him all the time, he smiles, he says "hello," but that's the extent to which he interacts, unless he's your fiduciary, in which he will speak to you almost entirely in the vocabulary of finance.
Christian has tried taking his career elsewhere--to a gigantic urban center somewhere in China or Vietnam, a small coastal city in Indonesia--and for what it was worth, he's had success. But it just gets real tiring after a while, doesn't feel like home, and, without fail, he always comes back.
But it's not like he's stuck at a dead-end town or anything; Wrighton is many things, never boring.
[art slot probably not forthcoming before the rp actually starts]

HuntressWell that's encouraging to hear if you think you can roll with whatever hints my hypothetical old people might drop... still, I would feel a little apprehensive about maybe putting in something that would result in a headache for you and Fraze... but maybe if I put my nurse on a dementia ward or somesuchlike then anything said old people say could be taken with a grain of salt regardless... Well I shall think on it and try and solidify a character before Friday, whether it's based on this idea or one of my others or something else entirely... EDIT: Also a question for the goderators: Fraze's initial post mentions the upcoming town fair. Will it be held... at the market place? In the central park? In a paddock just out of town?

Profile tiiiiime Name - Harper Kulkarni (may change the last name, or may not 8D ) Age - Teenager (will decide specifics later, kinda want to see what ages other younger characters are first) Gender - Nonbinary Profession - Early high-school student, unofficial electronics-repair shop assistant Appearance - Brown skin with cool, almost gray undertones (“taupe” seems to be the specific word for this). Large, dark eyes. Black hair, usually dyed at the tips. Probably not always rainbow like in the art, but that seemed fun and c’mon, it’s pride month, why not? Notes- They’re nonbinary, so please use “they/them” pronouns! I’ll remind people if they forget or slip and it should just be an edit or two to fix =)
- Lives with their mother; their dad can’t stay in town for very long, but does come for visits and sends supplies for the electronics repair shop.
- Harper helps out in the repair shop. They’re not allowed to weld yet, sadface.
- Probably into Piximite
so they can be friends with the other geeks 8D An art(And if anything differs between the art and the writing, trust the writing, I promise it's closer to whatever I intended)

Fraze Huntress I've this notion that in Wrighton, the academic spring break starts and ends around the same time as the spring fair, to give students time off to enjoy the fair. Would this be okay? Tagging Rabbit ♠ Tiger Gelquie because youse have student characters.

Well I made more art of Ani. Well this is what Ani looks like with her glasses. (I randomly decided, "Hey, Imma draw Ani in Medibang and practice lineart with it because I'm not used to it yet." I was planning on drawing her again, anyway. :3)

So, to business! 1. I'm going to make an OOC thread immediately after posting this. I'll include the information that's in the first post of this thread, and also Kyn asked (over PM, I believe) about an FAQ. I don't think I'll have time for that tonight but I'll try to get to it tomorrow. 2. ...If I have time after starting the game, that is! Yes, Wrighton: Strange Memory should begin in under 24 hours. 3. Updated the opening post to include the new art and character profiles. 4. Aaaand answering questions! Occupation: one of a few Town Hall receptionists (need confirmation from Fraze or Huntress to see if this is viable?)/farmer/house-single-person/plasma donor "Town hall receptionist" was already added to the opening post, but Hunty and I both apparently overlooked this one so just to be clear, yep, that's quite a fine job. We can just yoink a random old person under your character's care if we need cryptic but ultimately plot-relevant senile ramblings, so it's all good. I thought I mentioned it earlier (though I might be thinking of a PM), but the fair will mostly be in the central park and the marketplace, with a few more scattered stalls here and there. Fraze Huntress I've this notion that in Wrighton, the academic spring break starts and ends around the same time as the spring fair, to give students time off to enjoy the fair. Would this be okay? Tagging Rabbit ♠ Tiger Gelquie because youse have student characters. That would make sense, so sure!

(Er just a small correction, but the first post links to my art in the wrong place, it was for Ginz's character Itzel whom she also drew art for ^^; ) Thanks so much for organizing and updating all the info!
