^^;;; I seriously doubt most casual readers will be acquainted with the archives of the Caption Contest enough to know about those. I certainly wasn't. I dunno, I don't think those really count... They're just caption contest pictures, aren't they? Not something TNT ever really did anything with. And the idea that someone once had the thought of hey, what if a snake charmer could charm other snakes too? doesn't invalidate Shinko's original and interesting storyline as a good idea. Plus it's just generally a fun concept XD I was joking about TNT doing it before (CC's are usually non-canon), though if anything I would say that it does show that a Cobrall Charmer has the ability to charm the Snowager (& Kastraliss) so an evil one surely can control one to do evil doings, something the DoN would probably need to be called to stop.

Which isn't the most encouraging thing to hear when you're just sharing an idea on a brainstorming thread =P (If it helps - I find when I'm joking, it helps a lot to add serious and positive thoughts afterward if I'm making a joke that could be taken as criticism (it also makes it clear the joke isn't just passive-aggressive commentary hidden inside a joke, always a good thing to avoid!).) This episode of "Tiger comments on a thread from Most Recent Posts" is brought to you by...Well I did say something positive at the beginning: And I didn't outright say it wasn't original: "Played with" has a different meaning than "unoriginal". I was merely pointing out that TNT has made the joke about their serpents being hypnotized by the Cobrall Piper (Jub Zambra). While I could have gotten the message across better, I was overall saying I see no problem with the story idea. Admittedly I also misread Shinko 's message, I thought she was trying to convince us/herself on the idea (she was actually conflicted on what type of story it should be. I personally say Short Story if its just the Snowager. BUT if you have him hypnotizing multiple serpents like the Kastraliss (Meridell) and Deserted Tomb Monster (Mystery Island)(and maybe have giant version of snake Petpets like Cobrall and Wadjet for other worlds), you can do a Series with the DoN dealing with one in each part and the different struggles each one presents (Snowager's ice blasts, Kastraliss's acidic poison, Deserted Tomb Monster being a spirit, etc.).

Duke Pikachu Actually you were right the first time, I was not asking for feedback on if it should be a short story or a continued story. XD; I was asking for opinions on the idea in the general sense. I did however, have some initial "um" when reading your response because at first yeah it came across as a "stroke, then slap" of "while that's a cool idea, it's been done before."

Okay, for now on I'll be more clear what I mean. Though getting this thread back on track, the hypnotism thing reminded me that there was an issue of the Neopets Magazine based on the Defenders of Neopia: Issue 18. Here are some notable pieces from it: Defenders' Doldrums: What do heroes do when they get bored? Not only a fun little story, also tells and show us some characters who we didn't know for sure were Defenders such as Blackwing Wocky and that Usul Defender who still doesn't have a name (though oddly they referred to Masked Intruder as Kougra Defender even though he had a name, though this is the debut of Mammoth before he got his name). A Defender In Training: A story about a young Acara who wants to be a Defender, I like the character of Cherise (the young Acara) and wished she was actually on the site in some form. Defenders of Neopia: The Ultimate Guide: A guide TNT wrote for the first series challenges. While nothing that interesting lore-wise (there was another article telling you a bit about these characters that I didn't find notable), if someone is thinking of making up missions this could be helpful in seeing how TNT planned things. Mind Games: For anyone wondering whether their Defender of Hero story may be a bit silly, read this and be assured it isn't. The Hero Within: Just another story, though this one has a Defender not on the site (a young Xweetok named Zee who can teleport) and the debut of the villain Lady Frostbite (except she's called "Ice Krawk" and seems familiar with the Defenders, so it's very likely non-canon unless you retcon this being an incident that happened sometime after her origin debut on the site).

Speaking of brainstorming, I have a bit of a thing I'm not sure how to deal with, maybe talking about it will help. So my first instinct would be to use my Defender character, Ink. But right now, I'm between the second Ink arc and the third one. Ink 3 starts immediately after Ink 2, so there's not really space in the timeline to run off and have other random fights.
Do I break canon, and use Ink anyway? Do I use other Defender characters from that series? Do I set it in the past? Do I make a Dinner with the Scarlets instead? There's a lot of options swirling around in my mind.

Well being this is an April Fools issue you can have Ink do a non-canon fight, if you're afraid you may confuse people keeping up with the series just include something at the end indicating this was a non-canon April Fools prank. If you don't feel comfortable using Ink in that way, Dinner with the Scarlets I think would be the second option.

There's a lot of options swirling around in my mind. I have an ongoing series myself called Ballad of the Faerie's Champion, and have occasionally been tempted to use it as a setting for collabs. My usual approach here would be to either use a side character, set the one-off in a time skip that occurs in the main canon story, or set it as a prologue that occurs well before the main story. I personally prefer using a side character who it wouldn't hurt anything to make scarper off for something else briefly. It lets me explore that side character more and develop them outside of the context of their rigidly assigned role in the main storyline.

Working~ “That’s sketchy if ever there was sketch,” Steel said, his yellow eyes narrowing.
“No kidding,” Lightning Lenny agreed. “Its pretty obvious this protection racket woshisname and the Snowager going crazy are connected somehow. We sent Magma Lad- you wouldn’t know him, he’s only been on for about a year- to look into it three days ago, but he stopped reporting in about a day and a half ago. Poof. Gone. Radio Silence.”
“Hm,” Steel backed off the console so that all four paws were planted on the floor again. “He might have been attacked by the Snowager and be injured somewhere. Or he might have been captured by this… ‘protector.’”
“We need more than guesswork,” Hog said firmly. “We need answers. That’s what you’re to do, Steel- figure out where Magma Lad’s vanished to, and help him crack this case. I’d say your experience as a detective should be invaluable here.”
“I still prefer the term ‘private investigator,’” Steel said, smiling crookedly. “Brings to mind fewer trench coats and fedoras. But sure- I’ll see if I can’t track down your missing Defender and work out what’s going on with the Snowager.” His smile turning into a smirk, the lupe added, “I’ll just leave my tab with your secretary, hm?”
“You never change old man,” Lightning Lenny said, rolling his eyes. DoN is fun. ^^

Now that R&L is complete, I can try to brainstorm about this without guilt. >.> (even though that leaves me very little time to actually write a piece, aaah)
One of my first ideas was a DoN event that would troll players and get everyone riled up because it's not what they expect - with either invincible or really disappointing opponents. I considered something weird like needing to arrest the site's lovable rogues (Nabile, Kanrik, other thieves, etc.) because they have committed crimes, dangit! Or some kind of plot in which a villain has obviously taken over DoN, and players have no choice but to fulfill missions that actually help the villain take over the world. But I'm not sure I could keep it light and fun.
Otherwise I have some old character ideas that never got used for Hero City and that I could recycle. >.>

Right, I forgot about this... I do have a solid idea, though. It involves Hero Syndrome and the protagonist has prosthetics. Trust me, it'll make much more sense when I write the story.

Your comic, "Newen House: April Fool's", has been submitted successfully.
I just had a few of my boys pull a prank on their sister. XD No specific theme except that they say april fool's afterwards.

Oh, right, we should be getting to writing our story.
So do we have a set plan/idea with the Defenders Series 3 or is everyone doing whatever they want?

Pikachu, it looks like defenders is our theme. I'm doing a defenders story myself.
