Hey, I'm assuming unless our heroes are 'genius millionaire playboy philanthropists', they'llneed dayjobs of some kind? Because I've been thinking about that for a while, don't want to settle on something before I get my role but thought I ought to check now. Shinko, maths is terrifying. Thank you for doing that stuff so we don't have to! While I imagine there is probably some level of compensation for the heroes to be on the show, obviously it wouldn't be a ton or there'd be little reason to compete for the big cash prize. So yeah, chances are most of the heroes would have some sort of day job, though of course what that is would be entirely up to you guys.

I hope ya'll appreciate the things we do for you. Things like MATH. *sobs softly into her pillow* Maaaaath *grab-hands* =D =D ...Except I'm not a goderator, so you can borrow some of my math enthusiasm for the sake of your goderating and planning shenanigans. I've got more than enough.

[8:25:08 PM] Shinko: Roles should come out either tomorrow evening or early afternoon Thursday, pending a few last minute factors. ^^ [8:26:51 PM] Shinko: as an aside to that, remember that sign-ups have a hard closing date of tomorrow at 6 PM eastern, so if you have any buddies who've been waffling better poke 'em because their window is fast falling shut ^ Reminders from our friendly neighborhood Shinko! (who I should have suggested post this here before she had to get off Skype, sorry, Shinko!)

Just a little over an hour left to sign up if you'd like to play a sidekick!

Now that roles have been assigned and I know I get to be a tech hero, I've come up a character!
Okay, so my idea is playing as an elderly superhero who was popular and cool and super hi-tech back in the day, but things have changed and now she scoffs at the new generation's technology. XD; However, she absolutely refuses to retire. No one has managed to convince her to take her name off the list, and that's why, since she's registered, she HAS to participate in the show. XD Unfortunately, she's about as powerful as a regular civilian now that technology caught up to her. Her heart in the right place and all she wants is to help and be a hero, but her methods tend to prove fairly ineffective now cause she refuses to get on with the times.
I think she'll be fun to RP, she could be really funny as she tries to connect to the internet through dial-up and things like that... plus there's lots of room for character development for her, so I'm excited! =D
I might still come up with something else and change my mind at the last minute, but it's not likely. I'll probably just keep fleshing her out and decide exactly what her old technology looks like and what it does/or did back in the day. (Not to mention coming up with her name and appearance and all that!)

Cross posting from the skype chat- my NPC character!
His name is William "Bill" Sinclair. He is the CEO of the network that produces Hero City- and since the show is pretty much the only thing that runs on that channel aside from commercials, it means he's in charge of the show, it's assets, and tangentially, the heroes, though he's less a badass Nick Fury and more a profit driven bureaucrat. He wants the RATINGS dangit. >C
He used to be a hero on the show several years back, but retired after an accident which will be expanded upon more in-story and has since become a forty-something cynic, lol.
Don't ask his power I'm not telling yet. ;3

So on Skype a while back I mentioned I might play as a dwarf who is sponsored by her family's company! I was thinking her ability might be laying flat. She adheres herself to a surface and lies flat on it! Don't walk on her, she won't be happy.

Tiger: Cool, good to know! I still haven't decided what to do with the NPC twin yet, but this gives me some flexibility Thanks for clearing it up!

Also cross-posting 8D So, since the heroes have Sinclair as a ready NPC to bounce off of, interact with, and reference, I figured I should provide someone similar for the villains - especially since they're a team and all ^^ So. Meet Iskender: He is a Turkish Angora because Persians are cliche. Also his name is Turkish, the Turkish version of Alexander, a title given to the Albanian rebel-leader George Castriot as a comparison to Alexander the Great, in honor of his military prowess. Castriot, whose title is commonly translated to English as Skanderbeg, was raised as hostage of the Ottoman empire for fear his father might start a rebellion. You know. Much like how domestic cats might be held by humans >83 ...Yes he's kind of a snob. Even for a cat. His super-powers include advanced intelligence, the ability to speak English, and probably enhanced strength. Like. A lot of enhanced strength. He needs it 8'D He also has a roommate, of sorts. His name is Wheatley =D

Okay, so now that we have our role assignments I can solidify my hero a little more, so here's what I've got so far. It... took way too long to get these thoughts down, lol (And a lot of it is still up in the air, especially with the sidekick thing whee)
Striker Thunderhead Nimbus* is a top-of-her-game hero with an impressive penchant for weather manipulation. (Or something along those lines -- I'll figure out the exact scope of her powers once I gauge the right balance for her in the game) She loves her life as a superhero -- both the noble goal of protecting her people and all the little perks that come with TV fame. With her personable attitude and flashy powers, it's easy to see why Nimbus is a fan favorite. The problem? Nimbus' twin brother (I don't have a name for him or a regular name for her yet), who has a significantly... lower opinion of the show. Though he shares his sister's powers, he refuses to take part in a competition that, in his eyes, inevitably corrupts what should be a selfless endeavor. The siblings argue about this constantly, with the sister accusing the brother of self-righteously squandering his potential (though he's still registered for his powers, and probably uses them for some more mundane job or something), and him accusing her of lying to herself and just being in it for the fame/money/etc. Nimbus tries to hide these family issues from the audience, but this is kiiiind of hard to do when the whole "twins with shared powers" thing draws so much attention.
*It's hard to come up with superhero names that aren't taken :I I dunno if I'm even gonna keep Nimbus as a name, we'll see

Ginz ❤ That character actually sounds awesome! It's not often you get someone of the geriatric population in these sorts of stories. And it sounds really interesting with the potential to set off really good setups! Layla "Nimbus" Karimi Nimbus also sounds cool. The character herself isn't out of this world but her situation can certainly bear a lot of conflict! - so anyway, time for more badfic Fireflyman was walking in the fine streets of Heraclia, his compound vision affording him a panoramic view of the streets. In the corner of his vision he sees a boy watching a jar. Curious, he focuses on the jar. Little insects buzz around in the jar--fireflies. Fireflyman swoops next to the boy and watches the fireflies up close, as mesmerized as the boy is. "Do you keep fireflies as pets?" he asks the boy. The boy nods. "Yes, I love them so much! They glow in the dark and... wait." The boys looks up at the mutant firefly. "Are you Fireflyman?" "Yes, young human, I am indeed Fireflyman," he replies with his buzzing voice. "And speaking of which, something about this situation feels wrong..." "Well... now that you mention it..."

Aww kitty! I am most happy with this turn of events, Tiger. <3
So I'm going to be playing as Nyx Nightshadow, a twenty-something year old drama llama with the traditionally ridiculous villainous dress sense. I would like to have it that she was a participant in Hero City until she got banned for doing something awful-but-not-yet-chosen in the last season, if that's okay? I'll probably work that one out over the next few days, and would certainly run it by goderators before setting that stuff in stone! =P
