*works really hard on something that's supposed to be creepy and/or serious* *shows people* People: So cute (or some variation of that). Me: Thanks. ^^ Me internally: IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CUTE.
This happens a lot. =_= Literally every time I try to make something that's not supposed to be cute. Every. Single. Time. I've learned to accept it, and I'm glad people find my art nice, but sometimes it bugs me. I guess it's just part of my style.

Thoughts I am having while drawing this picture:
Does this look right? Should I adjust this? My moon is stupid. I'll deal with it. Wrong layer. No, these colors look too similar. Gah, shading. The texture is off. Wrong layer again. Still on the blur tool. Seriously, there is nothing to blur, this is an empty layer. Too light! Too light! Ooh, using different colors in Multiply and Divide layers make awesome effects. Rabbit, that's the wrong layer again. No, the background is too purple. I need more blue. No, that's too much blue. Gah, back to too much purple. Why must my mouse double click??? This messed me up at least twenty times now. (This is also a problem with anything I do with this mouse.) Wrong. Layer. Wow, these are a lot of layers. Go to the pencil tool, you're still on the smudge tool.
(And this continues until I have a nice picture. The pic is coming out really nice, though. I've been working on it all day and I'm almost done.)

Sidewalk! What are some good brands for white gel pens? Alternatively, what are some cool colored pencil techniques for adding in white highlights?

Sidewalk! What are some good brands for white gel pens? Alternatively, what are some cool colored pencil techniques for adding in white highlights? Ooh, this is a tough one, I've had to deal with this in my Ink comics. Let me start off with what doesn't work. -Sakura Pen-touch White: Their Black markers are awesome, but this really wasn't. It wouldn't work with sharpies at all, and had problems with old inks. -Bic Wite-Out Pen: This is what you'll find at Target. It... works kind of, but not the level of finesse I needed for my art, most of the time. -Regular Wite-Out: Even less finesse than the pen. And the stuff that sort of works: -Gelly Roll 08, also a Sakura product: This one was only 2 bucks at Micheals, and it's served me pretty well. You can see it in this comic, especially the last panel: www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=557490&week=623It's my go-to pen because it's sort portable and easy to use. But it's not perfect. I'll have to reline stuff twice sometimes, and sometimes it just doesn't work the way you like at all. -ZIG Cartoonist White Ink 30 by Kuretake: It comes in this little jar, and you have to use a paint brush. But it does work. Using a paintbrush isn't ideal for me, but this is okay because I can just dip it in the little jar, and it comes out opaque. It's called white ink, but it's super thick for an ink. Paintbrush/white ink might be a good bet for colored pencil. -Golden High Flow Acrylics: Both the black and the white colors of this was recommended by my illustration teacher, who specializes in pen and ink illustration. The white goes on completely opaque. It's the full painting process at this point though, with getting out a palette and everything, and that's usually enough of a deterrent to keep me from using it. And the one that completely works every single time: -Computer/Post Production: My Ink comic is done in real ink. But then it's scanned in, and in post I make it completely black and white, exactly two colors, even though it scans into white and dark grays. And then I fix mistakes. I make white lines bolder if they don't show up. I draw lines in black in ink, and then invert the color to white. I sometimes, rarely, even make up new white lines. This process got easier once I got my drawing tablet. You're also not really working with traditional media anymore at this point. So, there's options, each with their failings. It's a tough one.

I want a background in this picture, but I used too many colors so things might look too similar. ;;
I'm probably going to do a muted landscape or something similar. I never did anything muted before and I don't know how it'll look, but Imma try.

Gotta say, drawing and a time limit don't work well for me.

Has anyone ever clicked on a tool in whatever program you use, went to do whatever, and you find out it's the wrong tool? Yeah, that happened to me. A lot. I swear, the airbrush and the pencil tools are too close.

Yup, happens all the time with me X) One minute I think I'm using the paintbrush tool, the next a tutorial pops up telling me how to use the smart brush XP
What's even better is when I go to save and I come this close to accidentally hitting the "Close All" right above it XP

When it clicks in your head just today that, "Hey, maybe cell shading is actually better for comics rather than all this soft shading you're doing!"
*slaps forehead*
