Twillie Ah, you shall see. :3 About DeviantArt and becoming well known and getting a following, stuff like that, I really don't know. X) And I never really cared enough to figure it out. I'm just fine with using DeviantArt as a image hosting site. I think I use it more for that than for actually showing the world.

Is anyone else having trouble getting onto the Deviant Art Website? It just won't load for me at all.

Twillie Well, now it's loading finally, but it wouldn't load for me all evening long. Apparently the trick was to finally give up and ask if anyone else was having trouble.

From what's been said, that definitely makes sense with Deviantart x) I had a feeling that it was more about getting into groups and socializing rather than posting, but I wanted to make sure if others noticed similar things about the site, or if it was just me XD Yeah, I've been on deviantART for ten years and my stats look something like this: ...so a lot of it is definitely who you know. XD Though I managed to get a bit of traction by submitting some of my fanart to public groups and posting links around on other websites. But overall I wouldn't worry too much about how much attention you get. It's definitely nice to get views, but if you don't, just keep drawing for you.

Well I began drawing on my clipboard today (the brown color is boring) and I just finished coloring a section with marker. On a related note, half of my pinky and the side of my right hand were pink and purple. I washed most of it off, but it's still there. And earlier today, I was washing off some marker on my other hand (I was testing to see how different some blue markers were) and the water turned into what I can best describe as cartoon water blue.
Thank goodness my markers are washable. X) This is why I do not trust myself with paints.

Rabbit ♠ Whenever I draw traditionally, no matter the medium, I've just come to the point where I expect to see it smeared all over my hands (and often arms as well) x3 Fair sacrifice for the art itself, I suppose xD

Same! I usually try to avoid mediums that are way too messy, but even with something simple like graphite sketching, you end up with the side of your palm turning into something akin to Silver Surfer when you're done. D: So now I just try to avoid mediums that are actually kind of toxic for you, like breathing in turpentine during oil painting. XD (such a shame, though--I freaking love how oil paintings look) There's something to be said about getting your hands dirty during art, though! Just how art should be. =) Think the biggest "art mess" I've made of late was when I was testing out pastel pencil on watercolor paper, and I was doing a lot of layers because Biscuit's face just wasn't turning out right, and then all of a sudden BOOM the sketchbook falls onto my black leggings, and a perfect recreation of the pastel art was stamped into it because the paper didn't hold onto the pigments well at all LOL! My leggings stayed partially blue until I put it into the wash a few days later. XD (Also, Rabbit ♠ , paints in the watercolor category are totally washable as well, so don't be afraid to give them a try if you want to! But only if you really want to and have the means to procure the materials for it. XD)

I don't know if I was bored enough or I just hated the color brown it was, but now the entire back of my new clipboard is colored in. EDIT: I put a picture of the back of my clipboard on DeviantArt like five minutes ago and two people added it to their favorites. O.o That was... kinda fast...

Hey, sorry to barge in late, but I saw some talk a couple pages back about free art programs and just wanted to drop links to FireAlpaca and Krita which are free alternatives to PS that I've heard good things about, just in case you want more to play around with. (I can't say much about either of them myself; I use SAI almost entirely and PS for editing. FireAlpaca is quite simple and has similarities to SAI and PS, though.)

Ugh yeah, trying to draw this comic and having a hard time with it. >_> Can there be art wars? Like word wars except with art? I have no idea how that would work though

PFA Yeah, every "word war" I participate in is usually (on my end) a productivity war x) Since they're really not competitions, it'd probably just work the same in that a start and end time is determined, and each participant tries to get as much done in that amount of time. If there were to be more clear progress markers, maybe you could say "I got this much line art done, or these many panels are colored, etc"? If you'd like, I just finished my homework and should get back to work on my comics, so we could war right now :3
