Everyone ready for a new episode? 8D (This is not a gif hidden for convenience, there are actual new episode spoilers in this box.) Aaah, "Rock'n'Roll!" people who don't actually listen to rock'n'roll do love to shout this, don't they Jagged had to get his turn eventually. (His french VA gives him a lovely stereotypical American accent, in case you hadn't heard the original.) I'm wondering where to place this episode continuity-wise. Guitar Villain (which sounds hilarious when pronounced in french) was not the most difficult villain-of-the-week on his own, maybe because the impact he had on the innocent civilians didn't seem so harmful, but he wasn't small fry either, and the dragon (DRAGON!!!!!!! 8D) added to the challenge.
(What a beautiful cartoon world it is when superstars interact with middle schoolers and casually offer them great opportunities for design work.)
Is it me or did Papillon's brief "I'll get you my pretty, and your little cat too!" speech at the end have brand new footage this time? It seemed longer. Maybe he'll finally start to move his rear a bit more! =o
'Ship-wise, I'm a bit confused, because Marinette was back to stammering around Adrien, which I thought she'd stopped doing a few episodes ago but I guess not, then... bizarre twist, around the end he's the one who gets flustered around her! For artistic reasons, but still a fun parallel. I'd find it interesting if Adrien's feelings for Ladybug slowly evolved into a more partner-admiration thing rather than romantic, while he gets more and more interested in Marinette. Or he could also fall for both of them at the same time and have a nice little self-made triangle. I'd applaud if Marinette/Adrien started dating as their civilian selves and still didn't know each other's hero identities, in perfect cartoon logic.
And of course, LADYBUG RIDING A DRAGON PLZ, I MEAN LIKE LADYBUG RIDING A DRAGON, YOU KNOW??? Comments I forgot to make earlier: that cartoon city is so pretty, clean, un-crowded, and the weather so nice, that if they didn't keep mentioning Paris and shoving the various monuments in our faces, I would never have realised that it's supposed to be Paris. x3 And I really love how Ladybug's finishing move/magical girl name-calling attack actually relies on ingenuity. *sobs glorious tears* THIS EPISODE. SO MUCH CUTE. So first there was this moment: and I couldn't help but be reminded of the iconic Titanic scene. I cannot handle how adorable Chat Noir is. But, more importantly: EEEEEP. HE GETS ALL FLUSTERED. FJKSDFKDSFJKSD -melts into a puddle- The fandom on tumblr is all "HE LIKES HER. HE LIIIIIIKES HER." right now. XD I'm pretty sure he's getting there. Also, my friend pointed this out, but it seems like his hair is slowly getting messier and more "chat-like," and I dearly hope this is true because if he were more like chat all the time I'd laugh my pants off and die of adorable-ness.

I have stumbled in here, I only found this on the internet earlier, and I have no idea what this show is about, but it looks pretty interesting. Chat Noir though. I typed it in Google and it came up with a load of French shops. xD

WELCOME @yuugi! *fist bump* Oh boy oh boy oh boy this episode. Oh yes, Liou! Paris is so incredibly cute in this cartoon! XD The streets are so clean and….wide! They almost make us believe that it smells like flowers and croissants instead of cigarettes. X3 Overall, I really enjoyed this episode – it did feel a bit too fast, though. Or is it just me? It doesn’t matter – now DRAGON. THAT’S IMPORTANT! GIANT DRAGON RAGING AROUND THE EIFFEL TOWER. Seriously, bravo creative team! Bravo. *clap clap* I salute your creativity. But , animation wise, it feels as if this episode’s quality was a bit lower in comparison to previous ones. Especially on the Eiffel Tower climbing scene. That’s a bit sad, but the team must have their reasons – they probably ran out of time or something. And Adrian. Adrian. He likesherhelikesherhelikesher! <3 It would indeed be fun to watch them play Mr. and Mrs. Smith if they dated as civilians. XD I could see it happening! The two of them, sharing a milkshake by the Champs-Élysées when an akumatized drops out of the sky and they just go “whoops. Gotta go to bathroom” or “I forgot my phone in the car, oh no!”. Sweet. <3 But if I were in Adrien’s shoes I’d fall in love with the girl that tames a dragon instead of the cover designer. Just sayin’. XD

Just popping in to say that I'm absolutely in love with this show! I'm not caught up because I'm lame and watching the English dub, but it's been darling so far. Really reminds me of some of my old childhood favorites like Totally Spies & Sailor Moon, haha.

Welcome @yuugi, Robyn, hope you enjoy catching up with the episodes! Sailor Moon + Totally Spies is exactly what I was thinking of too. x3 Ooooh actually, fun fact, the classmate named Alix was originally supposed to be in a trio with Chloe and Sabrina, as a tribute to the Spies! 8D Zoey Yeees that moment, I see someone else enjoyed it enough to gif it already! Dju Still on 'ship-progression, yes, the two of them are definitely oblivious enough to keep on not noticing how they disappear at the same time. x3
If I were in Adrien's shoes, I'd actually be under the impression that Ladybug is more mature, possibly older than me, slightly out of my league, so after a while I might try to be more reasonable and go for the awesome fellow middle schooler right next to me, maybe enjoy a bit of normal social life.
Now wouldn't it be fun if they were dating as their civilian selves, but their superhero secrets started to cause a bit of tension between the two, and each of them mentioned their relationship troubles to their hero-partner, maybe even getting advice from them, while still having no clue? (Does that make any sense? xD) Then they could feel guilty about maybe still having feelings for their respective hero-partner, oh no, how to choose between civilian and hero love interests! x3 I call it a love rubber band.

Watched the first subbed origin episode because I am a moral-less fan who will watch all of them anyway. Origin episode 1 discussion: WE FOUND OUT WHAT THAT PENTAGON THING IS FOR. Omg, and the weird green Kwami was a TURTLE. HOW ADORABLE. We got to see Hawkmoth's butterfly Kwami, too... POOR THING. D: It's okay, IT'LL ALL BE OVER IN THREE SEASONS?! MAYBE?
It was so cool to see that in the beginning, it was Marinette who had awful luck. In the anime PV, they always mentioned that it was Felix who had crazy bad luck, but I guess since they scrapped Felix they changed it up a bit. And oh gosh, THE MACAROONS. WHY. They take forever to make. HOW DARE YOU AWFUL PEOPLE DESTROY HER MACAROONS.
Also the people on tumblr noted this, but Ladybug's first transformation was super awkward, while Adrien was all, "SHOOT, I GOT THIS, BRO" and totally knew all the ridiculous poses from the start. Found that pretty hilarious. And then I found out that the English VA for Chat Noir/Adrien, Bryce Papenbrook, also did Eren Jaegar from AoT and Kirito from SAO. So Moni and I were discussing what it would be like if Bryce did a character swap for his voices, and Chat Noir suddenly became more like Eren Jaegar, and Eren Jaegar would be more like Chat Noir. Pretty sure both of them would die pretty quickly.

OMG Totally Spies! I used to sing that theme song everywhere. xD
Okay, can I just say, why has this not been in my life sooner? ;^; I love Marinette! She's such a cool main character. I have this thing where female leads sometimes annoy me quite a lot or aren't particularly likeable, IMO, but she is super cute.
Looking forward to catching up. I am also on the dub like Robyn. ^-^
EDIT: Okay, please add me to the list of fans. I have watched the rest of the series in a mixture of Korean and French with subs. Just about to start Origine (or Rise! Ladybug)... ICANTSTOP. Loved the French ones. Officially a fan! *^*

So now that I've watched 21 and 25, I've got an interesting theory... Are the episodes perhaps going back in time rather than forward in time? Because there's been a lot of instances where the next episode definitely chronologically happened before the previous episode, like for instance: 1) in Episode 20, we see Jagged Stone wearing the ridiculous eiffel tower glasses, but in episode 21, we see him ordering his assistant to find a pair of glasses in the colors of the french flag with eiffel towers on them. Marinette designs and makes the glasses in this episode, and Jagged Stone mentions how he loves Marinette's design in episode 20.
2) We see Marinette get more jealous/socially awkward around Adrien as time goes on. You would think that she'd be more comfortable with him after so many episodes of interactions, but it seems that she will take one step forward and two steps back every episode.
3) The season finale is, of course, the origin episodes, which makes me think that perhaps the writers are starting from the most recent thing that happened (Stormy Weather, where their teamwork is on point and Chat flirting is at 117%) and then slowly moves back to the very beginning.
4) One of the clips from the origin episodes preview shows Adrien and Marinette talking under the rain, which makes me think that they already found out each other's identity and they've been discussing the events of the past 26 episodes this entire time. Maybe something bad happened, like Hawkmoth actually succeeded in taking Tikki and Plagg, and they're forced to figure out what to do next now that they've been found out. And there are other little nuances that make me suspicious. But eh, maybe it's just chronologically all out of order. Idk. We'll see, won't we? XD

Hm, that's an interesting theory. I'll hold my commentary on Guitar Villain for now as I have yet to watch it more than once (although I must say, Hawk Moth was not on his a-game with villain names), but I personally didn't get a feel of progress or regress from Maribette in the episode. Again, it may have slipped by me as I usually need two or three (or ten) watches to catch everything, and tbh I haven't been watching Marinette's behavior that closely X) I just sort of assume that she always acts awkward around Adrien until some outside situation forces her to do otherwise as I haven't noticed any profound changes from her by her own accord.
In regards to the backward timeline, the biggest thing I can think for it is that, if it were true, the Puppeteer episode would be out of place. That's a later episode that references previous villains, so if it's all backwards, then they'd be playing with the dolls of villains they'd never seen before. To be fair, though, I'm suspicious about these episodes' order as well, especially when just looking at the glasses situation. I dunno if this is intentional or some weird Steven Universe-like scenario where no one seems to know the true order, but hopefully it becomes clear soon X3
By the way, is there a schedule/place for when new episodes come out or are announced? I hadn't seen any mention of episode 21 about a week ago, but now I see it's been out for a few days XP

Perhaps they are more meant to be snippets of Ladybug and Chat Noir's life, hence the name "Miraculous Tales of..." But I do hope they do a reveal episode at the end of season 1, though! Otherwise I'd have to wait forever for season 2 Q.Q I think two more episodes are coming out March 5 and 6th, so very soon. They're done with all of the season 1 episodes finally, so I'm assuming Thomas is just going "RELEASE THE KRAKE--I mean, remaining episodes of season 1. -insert french laugh here-"

I started watching on Monday! Will this show ever air in Canada? (Hope so! So far liking it more than LoliRock) Was also flailing because I thought this thread was going to be about Ladybug, but had doubts, and now I'm flailing again!

ALL THE LADYBUG We are total fans of Marinette, her alter ego, the love square, even the mean girl Chloe (sometimes. Okay, very rarely, but she's entertaining, to say the least). Idk when it'll air in Canada, but the English version is on Nick right now, and there are tons of subtitled French/Korean episodes.

There needs to be at least SOME breakthrough in those two's relationships soon, else I will turn very impatient XD Wow, quick schedule X) I'll be sure to look out for their subs/dubs soon, thanks! :3

I like the concept of turning people into evil beings: like some of the Pretty Cure series, except the 'monsters' are actually people, not possessed inanimate objects.

I like the concept of turning people into evil beings: like some of the Pretty Cure series, except the 'monsters' are actually people, not possessed inanimate objects. Oui, oui! The fandom on tumblr has been making jokes about various situations in which someone would be akuma-tized (or evil-ized). XD The monster fight formula doesn't change much from episode to episode, but I think the main thing people watch it for anyway is the relationship dynamic between marinette, adrien, chat noir, and ladybug. So I watched the complete two-episode origins special, and it made me "awww" at the end because I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Marinette actually disliked Adrien at the beginning because she thought he had put gum on her seat. XD But she totally went head over heels when she found out that Adrien was way nicer and just wanted to be friends. I think that's a way more realistic way of crushing on someone, so good job, Hawkdaddy! Also, Master Fu at the end saying that the two of them were made for each other. I LOVE YOU, MASTER FU. TURTLE KWAMI FTW.
