The Hunger Games Fanfiction I've been working on for more than two years is now almost finished. Expected final wordcount is about 240k words, so there are bound to be mistakes. Especially considering that I'm not a native speaker where English is concerned.
So what I'm looking for is a beta reader (or two), who preferrably is a native speaker and has a good grasp of English grammar. Typos are not that much of a problem, what with word spellcheck and my own spellchecking, though there might be the occassional confusion as to whether a certain noun requires to be written with a capital letter or not. I also need my beta reader to point out details in the story that are weak, make no sense, cause them to stumble in the reading flow, etc. (I only recently discovered such a detail myself dating back to the very beginning of my writing the story, so I'm pretty sure there might be more waiting to be discovered.)
I would like to post the Prologue of the story sometime during the week leading up to Halloween as I'd like to catch the momentum the final movie is bound to give that fandom. Intended posting interval is one chapter per week, with a total chapter count of 38. So as you can see, while this project is huge, it's not as if you have to go over the whole 38 chapters at once, but more like one, maybe two chapters a week, nothing more. As such it's more like a long-term project. Still, I would prefer to be at least one chapter ahead of my posting in terms of having it beta-read so as to account for holidays, emergencies, etc.
In terms of content, the story is about the 67th Hunger Games, and highlights all 24 tributes. This is also the reason why this story has that many words, as I try to show where each of them comes from, how they tackle the reaping, the training and finally the arena. It also includes their environment, like families and mentors, but also reactions of the Capitol. As for the arena, while I might have to rate that story as 'R' due to the nature of the story, I tried to keep it decent, avoiding cruelty, torture and plain splatter scenes. So don't worry about your stomach and potential bloodiness of the story. Yes, there will be characters dying, but it won't be really gruesome.
