The room was quiet for a moment as the robots froze. Jannon stared at Artemis with horror. The sand in Chiller's pockets shot out as spikes. The foremost spike aimed for his head, the second for his heart. Both shots grazed him, pushed at the last moment to be slightly off. The rest were blocked. On one side, by Caslon, on the other, by Caracura.Caracura: Chiller. Get. Out. Chiller fled, but turned to Artemis before she left the room, screaming at him as tears fell.Chiller: You'll be happy to know that will happen to me! I'm a Beta, so my fate is sealed! We die so they may live! She gestured to the other robots in the room before leaving and slamming the door. *he remains frozen for a moment, finally seeming to break trance when he reaches up to adjust his hair and brush sand off of him* ...ranks, then?Jannon: No, a Beta can rise to any rank, it's just they were created to be an unstoppable, belligerent assault force, with a completely different system from the Alphas- Caslon: It had everything to do with rank. The Alphas were making the decisions, they chose themselves over the Betas. Caracura: Enough. Sometimes what is best is not heroic. Caslon, please go check on her. Caslon left. Jannon glanced at Caracura with a worried expression, but the Alpha commander's face still remained hidden behind the mask of her helmet.Jannon: ... I've sent out a message. The supplies should be here soon.

Ohh...why are they working together then? That doesn't make sense. *he fidgets a bit to readjust his wings, but otherwise tries to keep still for them* Jannon: It's complicated. Tuce: The Alphas created the Betas. They weren't warriors themselves, but they found themselves in a war. The Betas were their army. But after the war there was a time of peace- sort of. Betas during the war had no free will, but after the war they were given that freedom. Their experiences were limited to war, so they were used for border control while the Alphas ran everything else. The Alphas wanted to create a system inspired by what they had learned from building and working with the Betas, but there was a problem. They had intentionally designed the Betas to be completely different from themselves for the war- and now there were compatibility issues. They had to choose whose design the new system would work with. They choose Alphas, deciding they would figure out how to loop the Betas into the system later. Because the Betas outnumbered the Alphas they kept it a secret out of fear of backlash. Betas began having problems and malfunctioning while updates for Alphas continued to come out smoothly. She paused for a moment, tilting her head.Tuce: Not lost?

Tuce: There are no updates for Betas being worked on. What happened is no longer a secret, either. Jannon: *nods* Kern made sure of that. Tuce: He's a Progenitor that lead a revolt against the other Progenitors shortly before the launch of Soulstice. Many Betas sided with him. Many Betas died. After he was defeated it was decided there were too few Betas left alive to bother with their compatibility issues. They have been left to die off. Jannon: Not entirely true, there are some specialists who work solely with Betas. Since they are government workers preference is given to Betas who work hard on tasks considered a priority by the government- Betas like Chiller. Tuce: ... I think there were some Betas who tried to work on the issue. But what they were doing wasn't considered a priority, so they were serviced irregularly and died.

Tuce: The specialists that do exist complain they're overworked and undersupplied. Jannon: Oh! It's here! I'll be right back. Jannon left the room.Tuce: Are you a Stitcher? I don't know too much about how i'm still here. I mean, I remember dying. I was scarred up like this before I died too, but when I died...it was all out, my whole body. I'm not sure why this is still here, like, me coming back in this state. Ash said there wasn't even anything to bring back. And something about me? Like what?

I don't want to let them do it to other kids anymore. *shakes head* Ash just saw the feeds and monitors of it happening, he wasn't on the field with me. Other people were though...so....there's their bodies to confirm it. Or lack of bodies, in some cases. I was alive so...umm...well I guess that would mean...same mind in same, but new, body. It's still me I think. I came back into a body that didn't exist anymore. *he rubs the back of his neck* I don't know how to make sense of it, sorry.
