"...Oh," Elin breathed, a frown on her face as she adjusted Ivy, patting her on the back, but not out of any need for the child. For a moment, her mind was in flux, trying to decide how to take the information. Though Alain had helped her once, Elin had never gotten along with him. It was too difficult to separate the noble profession from the person that was Alain Stallion, and it never left her with positive feelings about him. But it didn't matter how she felt about it, knowing who was affected by it now, and what he had lost. She knew of a few ways of how he helped Ambrose throughout his life, and she knew that was worth something. Besides, Alain was Ambrose's brother... And Elin knew all too well how losing a brother felt, especially when the death was unexpected. So she said: "...I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I know it's not easy. It never is. But it's okay; you should let it out, as much as you can. We're here for you. ...Though I guess Xavier and the kids beat me to it." She strode a few steps forward, running her fingers through Ciro's hair, then Muriel's, directing an encouraging smile to each of them. As Elin did so, Ivy couldn't keep her eyes off of Ambrose, staring at him as he cried. Then Ivy's face began to scrunch up, and she began to fuss. Elin immediately turned her attention back to Ivy, hoisting her up higher on her shoulder and patting her on the back. "Shh, shh shh, you're okay," Elin said, examining Ivy's face. "Grandpa's just sad right now." "Ampaaaaa," Ivy whined, turning her head back to him, signs of tears in her own eyes. "...I don't think she really knows what's wrong," Elin assured Ambrose. "She'll be alright." Elin contemplates Ambrose words before giving her own words of encouragement. The one-year-old Ivy is watching and decides that the proper response to seeing grandpa crying is to mimic it. Doh. She might be a bit too young for this.

Ambrose swallowed the lump in his throat as he listened to Elin speak. Though they ahd rarely spoken of Alain, it was easy for him to guess how she felt about him considering her sentiment towards the nobility, especially ones like his brother. Yet her sympathy was genuine, and even though she seemed sadder about how Alain's loss had affected him than the death itself, Ambrose relished it. Right now, that was what he needed, and even in death, Alain would not have cared much for the sympathy and opinions of other people. He could almost hear his voice and sees his smile at he said that. The Stallion took his hand away from Ciro, letting his mother stroke the boy, before looking up at Elin and giving her a weak smile through his tears. "Thank you. I appreciate it...and I really appreciate all of you being here, for me," he sighed. "I can't believe that you would do all this for me, but I...I'm happier for it." Any further thoughts were interrupted by Ivy's plaintive cries. Ambrose winced, lowering his eyes, guilt sweeping through him. Rationally, he knew it was not his fault but she was still picking up on his misery, even if she did not realise fully what was wrong. All she knew was somebody close to her was sad. He brought his free arm to his side and shuffled in his seat, trying to gauge how much space he had between Muriel and Ciro clinging to him. Enough, probably. With that hope in mind, he looked up at Elin and stretched out a hand to Ivy. "Elin...could you put her in my lap?" Ambrose asked. "I'd like to try to comfort her...and maybe it will help me in the process." Ambrose is grateful for the sympathy and asks to add the last Elivier kid to the hug-pile.

Elin blinked, taking another moment to rub Ivy on the back before nodding. "Alright, if you're sure. Just... Let me know if it's too much, and I can pick her up. Muri, Ciro, give her some room." With that, she gently bent down to set Ivy on Ambrose's lap as the two other young children shifted to comply. Once upon Ambrose's lap, Ivy pressed her herself against Ambrose, putting his arms around him as best as she could with her tiny arms. Ciro sleepily looked up at the baby before patting her on the back in futility. Ivy then looked up at Ambrose's face and lifted a clumsy hand to it, wiping off some of the tears on his face. Elin took a moment to reply; she might have laughed had it not been a serious situation. "Looks like she's trying to help. ...Just like the rest of us." She looked up at Ambrose again, a sympathetic look in her eyes. "Of course we'll do this for you. We... know how it feels. And we want to be there for you. I'm just sorry we can't do more. A lot of it will just take time." Ivy cry-hugs with Ambrose as she complete the Lynn-family hug pile. (Well, hug-pile minus Elin.) Elin offers more words of comfort.

Ambrose smiled down at Ivy as the girl got comfortable with him and hugged him. When she tried to wipe away some of his tears, however, his eyes threatened to overflow anew, albeit for a different reason. Blinking them back, he leaned down and kissed the top of Ivy's head while wrapping an arm around her, cuddling her closer. With his other arm, he hugged Muriel still sitting by him. Ciro, sadly, was too far to reach, and for a moment, the Stallion wistfully wondered what it would be like to have more than two arms. Terrifying, that's for sure. Nevertheless, not wanting the boy to feel left ou,t he shot him a warm, kind smile, hoping he saw. Giving off a sigh, he settled into the grip of his three grandchildren, basking in all the love and unspoken support that they were giving him, whether they realised it or not. Eventually, once he felt his eyes stining less, Ambrose looked back up at Elin. "I know that it will take time but..." he glanced down at the trio of kids surrounding him. "This helps, so much. I needed to be reminded what I have now, who I have, and that my brother's..." a lump rose in his throat, which he managed to swallow. "My brother's death does not mean there's nobody else here for me. No familly..." Ambrose glanced down at the people around him again. "I have blood family in Destrier, but all of you...you feel like family. I don't know what I did to be blessed like this but..." he smiled widely. "Thank you." <3 More feels are felt by Woob-dad.
