Some crickets can be heard chirping amongst themselves. A moment later, they ride off on half of a tumbleweed. *runs in a while later* Ack! Sorry! I was busy with a case, and I totally forgot about— *ahem* How can I help you? Glyph turned around, ceasing to play with whatever in the office had caught her attention.Glyph: Oh, hi! I was recommended to a psychologist and I thought I'd try you. I'm Glyph, of Rinam. Nice to meet you, Glyph! I'm Athena. So what can I help you with?

You know how some people can love a certain subject- like snakes. Maybe they really, really, really love vipers, or boa constrictors. I'm like that, except the something I love is serial killers. The logical, open and honest ones. I thought with Ira it was because she's an animal that, by accident, happens to be really smart. But she's without the capacity to understand emotions beyond anger, fear, and satisfaction, so she isn't fully sentient. The I met Grindel, and realized that while she was probably born fully sentient she's lost it somewhere along the way. She's just a really smart animal now.

I feel like I'm missing context here. Who are Ira and Grindel?

It's a parasitic species that takes over a host body and gains the intelligence of the host but not the emotions. Grindel was a beast handler who brought in animals for a fighting ring to match them against unwilling trafficked intelligent beings. She opened up the losers to examine their body structures, disregarding whether they were dead yet.

And do you, um... did you mean you love studying these people, or associating with them?

Okay, because that makes a difference. I don't think studying that type of mindset is necessarily a bad thing—speaking as a psychologist here, of course. I'd be more worried if you were agreeing with them. ...You don't happen to agree with them, do you?

I find it interesting how they come to the conclusions that they do, and I love seeing the logic behind it. Particularly with Ira.

Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It is interesting to see how people think.

She's a beautiful animal who is innocent in her killings, and while I agree that she is too dangerous to allow to roam free I don't like having to send her to a maximum security prison.

Well, there is safety to consider. Do you think anything less than maximum security would hold her?

I also don't like that it's a Trallyr prison, because Ira is terrified of the Trallyr.

I'm sorry, I know it's hard. Sometimes you just have to accept that... *hesitates* ...that there's nothing you can do.
