I originally posted this in Neopets discussion, but I decided it would fit better here. They don't have to fit with the official Neo canon, but it's always kind of fun to use "broad strokes" so you can make your own story. *ahem*
Hunter's story:
Ashlynne's story:
Miraja's Story:
Sirocco's story:
Davey Bones' story:
Hunter's story:
Hunter, the son of the great Sir Arthur, wasn't always a brave knight, although he always dreamed of becoming one. In fact, during his childhood, he was often sickly - possibly because he was born before the Orb had come to Meridell. Due to this, his father trained the eight-year-old Jeran as his apprentice. Hunter was older than Jeran. Against his father's wishes (considering how sickly Hunter was at the time), he signed up to become an apprentice. Over the years, he trained. In fact, he trained harder than any of the other knights - while Jeran was a prodigy, Hunter worked through his ailments. He was also mocked by many of the other apprentices because of his "pretty boy" look.
By the age of fourteen, he was starting to look much healthier and less scrawny. By the time he reached sixteen-year-old Despite this, he still felt that he was inferior to Jeran, which was another reason he became an apprentice - he wanted to prove to his father that he could follow in his footsteps. His father still focused on training Jeran, which hurt Hunter. All he wanted was to make his father proud.
Before the first Citadel War started, Hunter still hadn't finished his training had passed his test to become a knight at a mere sixteen years, the youngest in the history of the Meridell Knight's Academy. At the same time, the now eighteen-year-old Hunter still wasn't a knight. Still, he trained hard - he kept putting more effort in the hopes of achieving his goal.
Two years later, the first Citadel war starte. Jeran, who had been bestowed with the title of Meridell's Lord Knight after Sir Arthur left the title, was still leaps ahead of Hunter. It was during the war that tragedy struck - his father and a platoon of knights left the castle to protect a small village from Darigan troops. Hunter wished to join them, but he was held back since he STILL wasn't a knight.
The next day he heard the worst news that he could ever hear - his father had been slain in combat. Hunter was broken, and blamed himself for not being there to potentially save him.
Disheartened, Hunter gave up on his dream. Skarl had the Vandagyre sage Hoopoe return Claiomh Solais to its original home, a pedestal in abandoned ruins located in a hidden clearing deep in the forest. Since it was once again hidden, it would be safe from those who would use its powers for evil - Hoopoe was the only one other than Arthur who knew where it was. When the second Battle for Meridell started, Sir Torak, who was Arthur's best friend after Darris was placed into the dungeon, convinced Hunter to return to the battlefield to continue his father's legacy, and had Inga refit Arthur's armour to fit the younger Lupe. Reluctantly, Hunter took a sword and his father's armour, and left the castle.
After a few battles, Hoopoe appeared before him one night when Hunter was out stargazing. The eccentric old Vandagyre decided to guide Hunter to the glade where Arthur was given Claiomh Solais. After he guided him to the glade, Hunter saw the sacred sword embedded in a pedestal. Before lifting it, he saw the spirit of his father emerge from the mists of the clearing, who told him he was always proud of him. After seeing his father's ghost, Hunter's confidence finally returned, and he left for the Citadel with Claiomh Solais in hand.
When he arrived, Hunter found himself right near Lord Kass himself. He watched helplessly as Jeran fell, and then Kass noticed Hunter.
Kass turned to Hunter - he immediately attacked Hunter, taunting him by trying to make Hunter think he was "weak" compared to Jeran and an unworthy successor to his father. Then Kass pressed Hunter too far. Kass revealed he'd personally slain Arthur, and he was hoping his taunt would break Hunter's fighting spirit. Hunter was enraged and regained his fighting spirit, and while he couldn't defeat Kass, he bought enough time for Darigan himself to join the fight. Darigan, being far more skilled in combat than Hunter, immediately obtained the upper hand, and ordered Hunter to fight against Kass' forces with the aid of Darigan loyalists and Meridell's knights.
After Darigan defeated Kass, Hunter received a hero's welcome in Meridell and was finally knighted. Naturally, it wasn't as grand as Jeran's welcome (And Skarl took a lot of the credit for winning the war, as usual), but Hunter was more than satisfied - he had saved TWO kingdoms, and much like his father, had forged a strong friendship with Lord Darigan.
After the battle, he considered becoming a knight errant, traveling around Neopia searching for people to help. Skarl gave Hunter free reign to wander around Neopia.
And the adventure continues...

Ashlynne's story:
Ashlynne was taken in by Darigan himself after her parents were killed during the Theft of the Orb. She grew up as Darigan's "daughter", being protected by Galgarroth at almost all times. She would most often be found in the Darigan library, reading books about Neopia's history. What she really liked to read, however, was spell books. Every time she found a dust-covered tome full of runic magic, she would hide it in her room. Darigan didn't mind - he encouraged her to be intelligent, partly out of altruism and partly because he didn't completely trust his current court wizard, Morguss.
As she grew, she became more and more skilled at magic. She eventually found an ancient staff called "Eclipse" - forged from obsidian and Kreludite, it was powered by a "purified" version of dark magic that focused more on healing and protecting than attacking.
In her late teens, the first Meridell war started. Morguss suggested to Darigan that a mage of Ashlynne's skill should be put on the front lines. Reluctantly, Darigan let her partake in the battles, using her magic to heal and protect Darigan's soldiers. Eventually, she honed her magic enough that she could now use it to attack enemies - she wished she didn't have to fight, but it was for the good of her homeland.
Then, after the Orb was taken back to its rightful owner, everything went wrong. The Orb didn't restore the Citadel, as it had been turned into a tool of corruption by the Three. Ashlynne witnessed her adoptive father's fall first-hand - she was horrified to see how the Orb had changed Darigan. He was muttering to himself like a madman; he wasn't the wise yet stern father figure she'd known her whole life. Eventually, Darigan was driven completely mad and became a fiery Spectre, fully possessed by the Three. Ashlynne reluctantly helped defeat him.
Although many people of the Citadel took Darigan's apparent death hard, none were hurt as much as Ashlynne. She had withdrawn from the public eye, holing herself in her chambers. She continued to hone her magic skills. She would often forget to eat as she was so focused on the book. She was also very suspicious of the new Lord of the Citadel, Kass - he seemed to be a cohort of Morguss, another Neopian she distrusted. She noticed that Vex and Galgarroth had both disappeared, and she began to suspect something was wrong.
She stumbled into the Hall of Paintings, where she saw Kass and Morguss discussing another invasion of Meridell. She swiftly ran back to her chambers. Kass and Morguss hadn't noticed, but Ashlynne was now afraid not just for her life, but for the safety of the Citadel and its supposed peace with Meridell. She continued to spy on Kass, finding out he locked Vex in the dungeon, and that he was arranging the secret execution of Galgarroth. She couldn't take his actions any more - she went to a square in the Citadel and told the people they were being mislead by their supposed Lord. She warned them of a coming war, one that would be bloody for both sides. No one paid attention to her... Or so she thought.
Eventually, Kass' secret police caught up with her. She was held prisoner by Kass where he interrogated her and threatened her with execution should she continue with her actions. Ashlynne refused, calling Kass a "false Lord". Enraged, he had his guards throw her in the dungeon and arranged for an execution. Unlike Galgarroth's execution, this one would be public - she would be burnt at the stake for "treason".
Upon seeing Vex locked in another cell, the two began to discuss Kass' and his evil plans. Vex stated that Morguss had manipulated Darigan in the first war on the behalf of Kass - in fact, Kass bargained with the Three themselves to drive Darigan insane so he could rise to the position of Lord of the Citadel. Ashlynne was enraged.
Within days, a tall, winged figure approached the cage. Ashlynne resigned herself to her fate, believing that it was Kass who was coming to have her executed. Then the figure stepped into the light - Darigan had returned, and he had come to free her. Ashlynne was overjoyed, and after freeing the other Darigan loyalists, including Vex, Ashlynne moved out - not to fight Kass, but to fight Morguss.
Ashlynne attempted to attack Morguss with a sneak attack, but the old hag blocked her attack with a magic shield. Then Morguss summoned two Darigan Elementals from the ground. Ashlynne used her wits and her magic to defeat the Elementals, and then engaged in a clash with Morguss herself. The old hag was more experienced, but Ashlynne had more innate magical power. Eventually, Ashlynne overcame Morguss, but the wicked Moehog disappeared to parts unknown, cackling.
Ashlynne met Darigan again when Kass was defeated, and saw that he was accompanied by a White Lupe from Meridell. Asking his name, he replied - his name was Hunter. The two of them became fast friends during the reparations of both Meridell and the Citadel, as both lands were hurt heavily by two successive wars. In the absence of Morguss, Darigan chose Ashlynne as his new court wizard, and gave her the title of Ambassador to Meridell.
Although she had become friends with Hunter during the reconstruction period after the war, she chose to stay in the Citadel as the court mage.
And the adventure continues...

Miraja's Story:
Miraja was the daughter of a noble family in Shenkuu. Although they were grooming her to be a "lovely flower" who would marry into another noble family, Miraja was always a rebel. She'd sneak out on her own while nobody was looking and get into all kinds of misadventures. Her quick wits kept her out of trouble, though, and her parents never caught on. In her early teens, she was betrothed to a stuck-up young Kyrii named Selin. She couldn't stand being around him at all, mainly because he acted like he was "better" than she was. Her parents refused to budge, and Miraja ran away to escape from her troubles.
Tired and exhausted, Miraja was on a mountain peak far from the more populated regions of Shenkuu. She was attacked by three thugs, who were part of the Dragon's Tooth Clan. Although she was young and weak, she managed to drive them off by dodging most of their attacks and eventually tricked them into falling into a thistle patch.
Eventually, she found a secret school of ninjas, lead by a wise Nimmo named Teraka. The old master took her in, and heard her explain her reasons for running away. She expected him to be surprised, but Teraka simply nodded his head. He decided he would train her in the ways of the ninja.
By the time she was in her late teens, she'd become a master of ninjutsu. She had also learned a fighting style that combined acrobatic skills with powerful kicks and punches - her agile body allowed her to confuse her foes with amazing speed. Teraka told her that he had nothing more to teach her, and gave her a pair of metal fans called the Wind Dancers. He then told her that she should go find her destiny in Neopia.
Miraja decided she would return to Shenkuu's capital city - On her way back, she heard talking from a large encampment. Using her acrobatic skills to jump up to a high, hidden precipice, she looked down and saw the entire army of the Dragon's Tooth Clan. She overheard that they were planning to invade Shenkuu. Their leader, a Shadow Draik named Atil, was rallying his troops - as they'd already conquered many smaller villages in Shenkuu's region, they would soon take the throne of Shenkuu as revenge. She'd heard the name Atil before - he was a brutal warlord who had been routed by Shenkuu's combined forces of the flying ship armada, the samurai army, and the ninja clans. Everyone in Shenkuu thought he had been dead for years - Miraja immediately started to rush back to Shenkuu to warn the Emperor.
Upon her return, she was immediately accosted by her parents' guards, and her parents immediately resumed their plans to have her marry Selin - the two would be wed in two weeks. Miraja tried to warn them about Atil, but they thought she was making this story up to get out of the wedding.
The wedding day arrived, and the ceremony was about to begin when the Dragon's Tooth Clan invaded. The guests at the wedding scattered, terrified. Selin immediately hid himself, but Miraja didn't hide. Even though she was in her wedding robe, she immediately used the Wind Dancers to send the attackers flying with a whirlwind. Her parents watched in awe as she bounded away from the temple the ceremony was being held at, and dashed towards the palace. Selin, of course, ran away as soon as he could.
When Miraja arrived at the palace, she saw that the guards had escorted the two princesses to hidden chambers. Unfortunately, the Emperor wasn't lucky enough to be hidden. Atil gloated to the Emperor that he had finally won, and that after conquering Shenkuu, he would move on to other Neopian lands. Just before he was about to slay the Emperor with a massive claymore, Miraja blocked the sword with her iron fans and used their wind powers to knock Atil away from the Emperor. The brutal Draik now had to contend with Miraja, but she drew him away from the palace and continued fighting on top of a tall mountain. Eventually, she defeated Atil, and he was imprisoned in the palace dungeon.
The Emperor, who was impressed, told Miraja that if she asked a favor of him, he would gladly follow through as thanks. Naturally, Miraja told him to have her marriage and engagement to be cancelled so she could choose her own path in life instead of being, in her own words, a "docile flower". He nodded, and Miraja's parents immediately called off the marriage. While they were angry that she had ran away, they were proud of her for saving Shenkuu. Selin didn't care that his marriage to Miraja had been cancelled, since the wedding would have been for money rather than for love - he was immediately betrothed to another noblewoman, one with an even greater amount of money than Miraja's family.
After this, Miraja decided to leave Shenkuu to find her place in Neopia. Little did she know she would one day stumble upon a group that would become her greatest friends, and one of them would be something more than a friend.
And the adventure continues...

Sirocco's story:
Sirocco grew up in the streets of Sakhmet as an orphan shortly after his mother passed away from an illness. Ever since he was young, he was stealing, pickpocketing, and generally getting into trouble. He eventually was recruited into the Hand of Anubis. Eventually, he became the most skilled thief in all of Sakhmet, using his sharp dagger, his card shurikens and an even sharper wit to consistently escape from the palace guards. He left his calling card at the site of each of his heists - an inverse-colored ace of spades.
One day, he decided to raid an ancient tomb in the Valley of Kings. Inside, he braved a gauntlet of traps that were far more dangerous than the average dungeon's traps. Eventually, he found a rather strange chamber with an opening in the roof allowing light to get in. The floor looked like a giant clock, and there was a pedestal in the middle resembling a sundial, and where the gnomon of the sundial would be, there was a golden-hafted dagger with a blade made of solid jade. After taking the dagger off of the sundial, the roof began to close in and the entrance of the room started to close, and it was too far away for him to run through. Sirocco didn't know what to do until the dagger began to glow. As if by sheer luck, the ceiling and the door slowed down, and as he escaped the tomb, all the other traps were slowed down or stopped by his dagger. After he had escaped, he realized his dagger was the legendary Time's Edge, a dagger with the ability to control time.
Naturally, the infamous Thieves' Guild, the most powerful organization of thieves in Neopia, discovered him when they heard rumors of the mysterious "Time Thief". He was immediately recruited, and became one of their best agents, often working in tandem with a more seasoned thief named Kanrik. The two of them never really were on good terms, though, since Sirocco considered Kanrik to be a bit too ruthless.
The two were assigned to Krawk Island upon hearing that an Usul named Hannah had amassed a gigantic trove of treasure from her ventures into the Pirate Caves. The two of them sat at a table in the Golden Dubloon; while Kanrik was focused mostly on the mission, Sirocco was, of course, flirting with the Fontaine sisters. Eventually, Kanrik managed to get Sirocco's attention back after Kanrik lied to Hannah about his "sister". Sirocco accompanied the two on a mission back to his homeland, the Lost Desert.
Together, Hannah and Sirocco managed to clear the traps for Kanrik. Sirocco, who found he and Hannah had a lot in common, was enraged when Kanrik left her for dead after discovering a tomb. He actually fought with Kanrik and the two Thieves' Guild members who had followed them, but the other three thieves proved too much even for Sirocco and his time powers. After hearing Hannah muttering to herself about Kanrik's betrayal, he jumped down to a ledge.
Hannah was suspicious at first. After all, he and Kanrik had lured her into a trap. Sirocco, however, told her that he fought Kanrik because he broke the code of "honor among thieves" he had been taught while he was a member of the Hand of Anubis. He guided the injured treasure hunter out of the temple after Hannah had grabbed a ruby necklace.
Sirocco guided her to a small village where a doctor treated her wounds. Unfortunately, her injury was a powerful and lethal curse. Sirocco muttered under his breath about "lousy, treacherous Kanrik", and after Hannah recuperated a bit, the two set off for Terror Mountain.
After Hannah collapsed thanks to the curse, Sirocco lifted her up and tried to carry her on his back. Unfortunately, Sirocco was just as exhausted, and he fell to the ground as well. The two were discovered by Armin, a young Bori. After recovering, Hannah, Armin and Sirocco left the cave to continue their adventure. Naturally, a trio of vicious Snow Beasts got in their way, and Sirocco fought them off by using agility and time powers to confuse them until he could finish them off easier.
The next day, the trio of adventurers woke up to find Kanrik in the cave. Sirocco immediately drew his dagger as its blade began to glow. He rushed at Kanrik, and attacked him. However, Kanrik defended himself instead of fighting back, and apologized to Hannah. Sirocco's response was one word: "What." Then, all four of them fell through the floor, but landed safely into another cave. Kanrik explained himself, and while Sirocco still didn't trust him, he was shocked when Kanrik mentioned the Bringer of Night.
When they stumbled upon the Thieves Guild in the cavern containing the Heart of the Mountain, they noticed Galem standing with the Bringer of Night. Almost immediately, Sirocco made a quick dash towards Galem, dodging other thieves' attacks with his time powers and scaring them away with his throwing card shurikens. Eventually, Kanrik joined him, and the two younger thieves succeeded in defeating Galem. After Armin had slain the Bringer and the battle was over, Kanrik, Sirocco and Armin brought Hannah to the Snow Faerie, who cured her of the curse.
After all this, Kanrik became the new Guildmaster, and offered Sirocco a position in the guild. Sirocco refused, saying he wanted to leave his thieving past behind him. He went back to Krawk Island, as he'd been invited to Kanrik and Hannah's wedding.
And the adventure continues...

Davey Bones' story:
Not much is known about Davey Bones' early life, and he prefers to keep it that way. However, it IS known that he's very good with a spear, he's a former member of Captain Scarblade's crew, he took on the pseudonym "Davey Bones" in order to scare his enemies, and that his wings were pinioned by Scarblade. After Greybeard was arrested by Admiral Finneas Teach, Finn gave Bones the opportunity to go legit and become his navigator - Bones, who was the put-upon swabby of Greybeard's crew, decided to join immediately.
The two of them developed a bit of a father-son bod, with Teach being a mentor to the young Eyrie. He eventually found out Teach was in love with a Maraquan Zafara named Mera. He decided to let it stay a secret. Disaster struck when the infamous undead pirate Captain Dread cast a curse on Maraqua and kidnapped Mera. Teach tried to rally the entire armada of Krawk Island and Maraqua's army, but they were all too scared of the undead pirate.
Teach and Bones found the Revenge, and the rest of Teach's crew aided them in attacking. Much to Bones' horror, he saw Teach cradling Mera, who had died in his arms. When Finn noticed that Bones was there, he attacked him, driven mad from grief. Bones was forced to fight his own captain, and noticed that his captain had slain Captain Dread - Bones knew that Finn had taken on the curse of the Revenge and became its new captain. Bones narrowly escaped with his life.
When he heard that Finn had found a crew on Scurvy Island, he decided to go on his own boat, the steamship known as the White Walein (which was named after Finn's original ship), he decided to confront his former mentor, who now went by the name of Scarblade. Finn caught up with the Revenge, and he tried to confront Scarblade to try and see the error of his new, vicious ways. Scarblade, who had grown even more cruel and insane since Mera died, responded by cutting Bones' wings off and threw him off the boat.
Bones managed to swim his way back to Krawk Island, where he drowned his sorrows in the Golden Dubloon after a doctor treated his injuries so he wouldn't get infected. In between drinking massive amounts of grog, the young Eyrie would practice with his spear. In his own words, he learned to "jump real well", which made up for his lost ability to fly. It was around this point where he abandoned his real name and began calling himself "Davey Bones", taking on the name of one of the fiercest pirates in Krawk Island history - there had been a lineage of unrelated pirates who named themselves after the vicious captain, and he took on the moniker because many of them were also widely feared in the past. The name helped the young Eyrie keep other pirates at bay through intimidation until his fighting skills improved enough that he had the skills to back up the legendary name.
Eventually, he decided to attend the wedding of one of Krawk Island's most famous residents, Hannah the Brave. It was rudely interrupted by the pirates of the Black Pawkeet, lead by Garin. Bones grabbed his spear off his back and noticed that a Skunk Zafara drew a glowing jade dagger from his belt and flicked five metal playing cards fro his sleeve and held them in his left hand. The two of them fought back-to-back. Eventually, the pirates were driven back, but not before Bones had an eerie feeling after he noticed a familiar-looking Piraket flying away.
The Zafara introduced himself as Sirocco - much like Bones, he was an ex-thief gone legitimate as a treasure hunter. The two of them followed the Black Pawkeet on the White Walein. Much to Bones' horror, they found that the Black Pawkeet was being attacked by none other than the Revenge. Bones tried to turn back, but Sirocco had already jumped onto the deck of the Black Pawkeet and was engaged in a battle with Scarblade's crew. Bones had no choice but to join him, and he soon saw that his ship had been hit with at least three cannonballs, sinking it. Bones was enraged, and personally attacked Scarblade.
Naturally, Bones couldn't defeat Scarblade courtesy of the magic powers he had been granted since he had taken over the Revenge. Scarblade destroyed his spear and nearly killed Bones, and threw the Eyrie off the ship once again. One of his minions threw Sirocco off after a group of pirates ganged up on the ex-thief and knocked him out. As both of them were unconscious, they began to drown.
Fortunately, a Water Faerie carried them to a secret island. She told the two her name was Nereid, and she blessed the two with a spell that allowed them to breathe underwater. She also told the two that a war was coming, and it would be between Scarblade and Maraqua. She gave Bones a new, magical spear called Stormfang with powers over lightning.
The two of them swam to New Maraqua, and they saw a massive battle - Scarblade and his cursed crew were slaughtering Maraqua's army. Garin, Jacques, and Isca's pet, Goregas, were also part of the battle. Sirocco immediately used his time powers to speed himself up and effectively teleport back and forth around the pirates, taking out one pirate after another. Bones, on the other hand, headed straight towards Scarblade.
He discovered that Scarblade was fighting off numerous Maraquan soldiers. Bones joined the battle, he tried to make his former captain and father-figure see reason. The crazed Lupe simply turned around and slashed Bones' chest, and Bones retaliated by swiping Stormfang in retaliation. The two had a duel, sword and dagger against spear, and while Bones was ultimately the loser, Kelpbeard arrived and defeated Scarblade before the captain could kill Bones.
After Scarblade decided to fall back, Sirocco and Bones returned to Krawk Island, where a strange-looking ship was docked. It was named the "Singing Kazeriu". Suddenly, a stowaway rushed past them - a Striped Xweetok with a pair of folded iron fans strapped to a sash on her waist. The two followed her, and ran into a White Lupe. At first, the four Neopians weren't sure what to think of each other, but everyone explained themselves, and found that they were all adventurers. The four of them became a team of adventurers, getting in and out of dangerous situations and fighting evil all across Neopia.
And the adventure continues...
