I'm having a rare moment of being satisfied with who I am as a person. I know I am still a horribly flawed individual but we all are and I am okay with my flaws. They make me who I am. And I have many strengths: I'm interesting, I'm creative, I'm intelligent, I'm kind and I'm loving. I have friends who I love deeply and pretty sure care about me too. I have things I am good at and hobbies I feel passionate about. I have plans for the future and goals that I want to achieve. I could be doing much worse.
This feeling will probably be gone by morning but I will hold on to it while I can.

Went into class today worried about my group presentation, but afterwards the professor was visibly impressed by us and told us we did really good. One of the students even said he rated us as one of the best groups so far \o/
Just gotta write the paper that goes along with the presentation now xD

National competition for school organization ended yesterday, and my school's team placed in fourth overall for the nation, the furthest we've ever made it so far =D

I'm like... two weeks late for this, but oh well.
My high school alma mater has an amazing journalism program, and they consistently win national awards. The advisor who's there now started my Senior year of high school, after what I call the "transition years." We had three advisors plus a long term sub in three years, with the current advisor coming on board my Senior year. In 2012, he started an alumni scholarship program, where alumni like me can give back. For the past few years, it's been presented at Senior awards night. Two weeks ago, I got to be the one to present five scholarships to some awesome seniors. I was pretty happy with the little speech I had written, and I thought it went well. Apparently, it went even better than I had thought. The next day, I got the following email from the advisor.
"YOU WERE AWESOME LAST NIGHT!!!! Everyone was raving about you today. 😊" and then he also said on the alumni Facebook page that he was stopped at least half a dozen times about the presentation by other teachers and administrators. Which means that it was even some who didn't know me as a student. So... that really made me feel good.
Then, the following night, two weeks ago Thursday, I got my awards for the Bible memorization program I've been doing. It's actually a kids/teens program that I did for a few years in elementary in high school but never finished. I'm a leader for hte program now, and decided to go back to finish. I'm over half way through now.

I got new glasses with Transitions lenses that adapt to the light and go dark in the sun, and omg, I'm loving them so far! Ever since I had a problem in my left eye, I've been more sensitive to light than I used to, and these are a lifesaver for me!

Congrats, Celestial! \o/ That's awesome that it worked out just as you wanted, I wish you the best with your degree! Back home for the summer, and while on the one hand I really miss my friends back at school (first time having summer like this where I didn't really want to leave actually, guess at least that's a testament to the friends I've been able to make), it is gorgeous outside, I have a number of plans for the summer that I feel motivated to execute, and as my last semester of university comes up, I feel like I'm starting to get some semblance of what to do after graduation!

I have only ever heard woodpeckers around here, never seen one. Yesterday one came to our birdfeeder. And again today. Both times I got a great view of her (I could see her clear enough to tell her sex) and I don't think she will be leaving any time soon. I also got to see a female bullfinch within the same time span. So that's two birds that never came into our garden before that arrived to feed while I was making coffee.
I love having a birdfeeder.

I was kinda flailing about grad school work lately because there are so many things to do and I had basically no direction on any of them, and I was kinda "what dooo," and basically doing everything else but that.
I forced myself to buckle down a few times, and today, I think I finally have a solid, non-vague procedure for how to proceed for the next day or so (depending on how fast I can get the plan to work)!
Having been in such a state of uncertainty, it's so much of a relief to get to that point and finally be on the path to solving a difficult issue with my research.

Oh my goodness!! The St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup!!! First time. 52 years. Wow. Just... Wow. Worst to first, and a huge part of their story was winning for a local 11-year old girl named Laila. She’s battling a life threatening autoimmune disorder, and had a bone marrow transplant. The first time she got to go out of the house (or hospital) after transplant was to a number of the games. Oh my goodness. So happy for my city right now! *EEK*

Yes! My Poem has been selected for publication at my college's literary journal. The editor said, "Your poem is a great fit in the opening section. I like very much how it manipulates the idea of 'home' with its speaker in a place of transition; the quotidian details are terrific."
I'm very excited, this particular poem is pretty special to me, and I thought it might be a good fit for this journal.

I've finally beaten that campaign in that one game that tripped me up so long ago, and now I can finally say I've beaten all the campaigns in this game! \ o /
...
Shh, it's important to me.

*squee* One of my stories from the writing contest I enter on a regular basis ended up placing 2nd for the whole year (July to June)! When it won "best of the quarter" for my level (the highest level), I was hoping it might place in the top three somewhere. This is one I actually really like, and it turned out even better than I had in mind when I started writing. link:
