A young Blue Acara dressed in an orange and yellow school uniform sat looking out the window of her dormitory at her academy, Katare Academy of Altador. Her brown hair, in a braid, trailed to her mid-back as she looked over the school Yooyuball yard. Her sister, a light blue-haired Green Cybunny, was feeding the Yooyus.
This Acara's name was Mima. Her sister, down below, was Schala.
Also watching the field was Altador's princess, Saeryennan, whose light brown hair and green gown rippled in the wind as she stood atop a hill. She had gone out of Altador Palace for a time, as the kingdom anniversary ball was coming up. It had been exactly sixteen years since her father had founded the land.
Someone was watching the princess, too. From within the palace, a Speckled Xweetok's sea-green eyes surveyed the girl who was her sister's daughter...

Two big eyes (yes, just the eyes and nothing more) slowly appeared at Mima's window, they were yellow like amber and the pupils were merely black lines in the center. Slowly, a mouth filed with sharp teeth formed underneath the floating eyes.
"Oooh...'ello there, Marina! Or was it Mariana? Gillian? Gini? Oh, I know a nice song about a genie, Myrian!" the mouth blurted out. "A genie! Fell, fell, fell...right into the wishing well! how ironic...Isn't it, Melanie?"

Mima stepped back, shocked.
"My...name is Mima," she said, afraid at first, then tried her best to sound defiant. "Who are you?"

Slowly, the eyes and mouth gathered to form the face of a shadow xweetok. His fur was well brushed and clean, his thin smile revealed mischief...and the eyes madness.
"Oh my, Marry! What a lovely name you have! My starts with M as well! Or at least I think it does!" The now completed head went through the window's glass, revealing the rest of his ghost-like body on the way inside. "Manfred Vend...vand...van-something! My friends call me Baron! HA! Funny, isn't it?" He started swimming through the furniture, sniffling everything interesting he found on his way.

"Excuse me?!" Mima said, annoyed, once she'd recovered from the shock of the Neopet irrationally passing through her window. "My name is Mima. And what do you think you're doing?!"
Mima thought perhaps she was dreaming, so she tried closing her eyes tight and opening them. Then, she pinched herself.
Okay, so this was really going on. How strange.
Mima's Angelpuss, Marisa, suddenly mewed. Her sister entered the room.
"Oh my!" Schala gasped. "Who is this?"
"Someone annoying and crazy," answered Mima.
Saeryennan had seen the mysterious being pass right through Mima's window. Unlike Mima, she had seen many strange things, and was keen to believe what her eyes saw.
She turned back to the palace and walked toward it. She would alert Xandra.

"Annoying? Me? Hoho, outrage!" the xweetok said, diving through books and shelves, just like a real shadow would. "Crazy? Of course, the after life tends to do that to your head! Hehehe! Excuse my manners, I used to be a real gentleman...oh, what have I become!"
"I am Baron Manfred Von-something, lady cybunny...or at least I used to be!" Baron kissed Schala's hand right before diving into the furniture once more. His head slowly emerged from under Marisa, now carrying the angelpuss on his head. "I was wondering if the two ladies would be willing to-"
Suddenly, Baron's ears went up and his eyes widened.
"Someone is coming! hide me, oh please fair maiden Melisandre!" Manfred hid behind Mima, looking more like a terrified Meowclops than a baron. "The more people know of my existance, the more is likely he will find me! If he does it will be my doom, my end! Finito! Poof! The end of poor Baron Manfred Von-something!"

Mima stepped away.
"Why should we help you?!" she demanded. "We don't even know you, and considering you floated through my window uninvited - "
"Mima!" interrupted Schala. "He seems polite enough, and scared besides. I'm sure if he hides here he won't hurt us." She turned to Baron. "Go ahead and hide in this closet," she said, opening it, revealing a bunch of Mima's clothes, many of which were every shade of blue you could think of.
Saeryennan, now at the door of the palace, knocked twice. A guard bowed and opened the door for her.
"Do you know where Xandra might be?" she asked. "Or Nyvenne?"
"Nyvenne, I believe, is out flying," said another guard. "But Xandra is right upstairs on the landing."
"Thank you," replied the princess, who gave a quick curtsy to each guard before running off to find the Xweetok.

"Ah! Thank you! Thank you so very berry much, fair maiden cybunny! I will repay you one day!" Baron said with his sharp smile once again restored while he quickly slided into the closet, just like a miamouse would.
His body faded into a light shadow once he was inside, but the big yellow eyes remained among the t-shirts and dresses, as solid and bright as ever.
"I promise I'll behave, as long as the bad guy with the scythe doesn't shows up, of course...hehehe!" Baron whispered, "but he won't, because I am here in the safety of this closet filled with girlish fashion attire! A lucky Baron, aren't I?"

((If you guys need another character, I have a half-ghost paranormal investigator who could be tailing Baron? (though it sounds like this could turn into a hunt for/battle with/flee from scythe-guy at some point? *don't know what you all have planned*)))

It would be awesome if you'd join us! To be honest, I don't have anything in particular planned, ya know...just going as the story goes! ^-^ What about you, Sae? Any plans? ))

((Not really. Xandra, Saeryennan, Mima and Schala are my only four protagonists. Katriana might be introduced as a villain, depending on how the story goes, but I wouldn't let it get in the way of Baron's story.))

((All righty, sounds good!))
Rhigor was hoping security was lousy at this Academy, but he expected to be discovered at any minute. It was broad daylight, he didn't have one of the uniforms these students wore, and he sure didn't look like a teacher with his wide-brimmed fedora, dark sunglasses, and the mess of silver chains and pendants around his neck. It being broad daylight didn't help.
Rhigor preferred night work as often as he could get it, but the "trail" of his latest ghostly apparition led right to this academy, and he didn't want to see any of the students hurt or terrorized by an undead abomination.
The trail peaked at the side of a building. Rhigor pressed himself against the white stone, the bricks coolness only a small comfort to the fluffy brown Lupe. His ears pricked as he tried to eavesdrop on the conversation, but some fool down on a lower floor was telling a loud story about a teacher's unfair grading. There was no help for it - he'd need to slip inside.
He meant that quite literally. The Lupe's paws changed color to a ghostly gray-green, and the change quickly moved up the Lupe's body. Rhigor swung around and into the Academy, letting the ghostly effect fade once he was sure there was nobody around - and that his tail was completely through the wall.

((yaay! )) "Madam Melanie and Cybunny, correct me if I am wrong..." Baron whispered between the infinite shades of blue, "I heard rumors about a ball, apparently someone name Altador Kingdom is having a birthday party, yes? Will there be cake?"

"Mima," Mima corrected again in a defiant voice. "Mi-ma."
"And I'm Schala," said the Cybunny. "And, uh...Altador is the name of this kingdom. It's been sixteen years to this date since it was founded by our king, so that's why there's a ball." She giggled at the thought that someone could be named "Altador Kingdom".
"What is it, Saeryennan?"
Saeryennan approached the Speckled Xweetok, who looked at her with kind eyes. How, Saeryennan wondered, could this be the same Xweetok who brought down Faerieland?
Actually, she knew exactly how such a thing could be. It was just so...odd to her, even after all this time of knowing her.
"Xandra, some sort of blackish thing went into the Academy through a window. I don't know, but I thought it seemed like a wraith, the way it moved."
Xandra's ears twitched. Someone bad must be here, in Altador. And she happened to know a Neopian who could, to some extent, command those wraiths (other than herself). She sincerely hoped she wouldn't meet up with her.
"Come on," whispered Xandra. And she and Saeryennan strode right out of the palace, not even stopping to answer a Bori's question as to what color streamers should be put up.

"Sounds exciting! I wish I could have cake, but it turns out ghosts can't eat. Hah! But I do love a good ol' ball! In fact, my memories are filled with them...good times. Or not. Or both! Maybe both good and bad, crazy wazy, huh?" Baron mubled with his eyes spinning round and round. "When is this great birthday party, if you don't mind me asking?"
