*Spend a long time chatting with a friend and generally having a good long conversation, at one point with family in hearing range.*
*Realize you said one thing that's debatably tactful regarding family dynamics (nothing bad, but could've been seen that way, among the rest of the otherwise good conversation.*
"I screwed up that ENTIRE THING."

Word to the wise: children's books are for shmucks. What kids really like is those glossy coffee table books with lots of colorful stock photos.
Since I translate a lot of esoteric stuff, our bookshelf is a bit skewed in that regard, so now I have a toddler sitting behind me on the sofa, leafing through a chakra book and commenting, "...this is the green chakla, this is the blue chakla, this is the purple chakla and this is the white chakla, yaaaay, good job!"

Can confirm. For her birthday, I bought Dormouse a huge kid's encyclopedia of prehistoric animals, including dinosaurs. She cannot read yet but she can look at the pretty pictures of all the dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasties. Then when she is older, she might be able to read the words and learn things. Therefore we get much more use out of it than a regular kid's book.

Dear rental listing,
Yes, those are very beautiful views from the house. I can't argue with their aesthetic qualities. ...Can I see pictures of the house and more pictures of the interior, please?

Ooh, this place has a burger made out of crickets, I really want to try that- wait, no, it's served with avocado and tomato. Eurgh. Why would you let some grassy butter and soggy, ketchup-flavoured cucumber ruin some perfectly good bugs?!

Me: "I'm gonna be outside for a few hours in a heavy mosquito area. So I'll use this balm to help ward them off! Perfect!" Wasps: "Hi." Me: "Oh."

Is it progression if a cannibal uses a fork? The ultimate riddle. If the fork is made from the bones of their victims, then probably not.
