*comes out of lurking closet* Umm yeah. I guess this is my first-ever coming out..post? I've never really gotten to terms with my sexuality until.. very recently. Because my issue is a difficult one; being gay and Christian. So growing up I was pretty much told "homosexuality is sin, they go to Hell! >O" so I pretty much denied it and tried to be as straight as an arrow. And I feel bad because I remember posting on this very forum saying I believed it was wrong and stuff and behind the screen I'm going ";___;" D: And I was very happy about this group since it began Since 99% of my social group is anti-homosexuality, I'm... not looking forward to that aspect of the future. xP But yay! I have you guys now. <3 So I'd like to join this group :3 And I'm open for anyone wanting to PM me.

Oh, Nova *hugs* You're not going to hell and homosexuality is not a sin. It's a way of life and love and all that stuff parents make stories about when you're young, but a little different because of the same-sex factor. <3 *hugs* Now, you say your social group is anti-homosexuality? My town HAS no homosexuals, except for a guy... and me, the crazy bisexual. (Btw, you don't have to tell them if you don't want to. I haven't told anyone but you guys) Why did Love Game just come on I was about to quote the lyrics.

My family believes that though, and that's how I was brought up to believe. *hugs back* And I dont plan on telling anyone for a while yet xD; Just not ready. Though once this group was created there was this nagging in my head going "join! join! join!" xD; Thanks for the kind words =)

I'm still closeted pretty much everywhere that's not the Internet. It's possible to reconcile faith and homosexuality. (I eventually left Christianity, true, but for reasons unrelated to being gay.) Not all Christians view it as a sin. If the faith community you grew up in did, it can be a difficult idea to grasp, but you aren't alone. Whosoever is a webzine for GLBT Christians. There are many other sites as well that discuss the topic of being both GLBT and Christian. The Christian God is all-loving. How many times have you heard the phrase "God is love"? If you believe that's true, consider: if Someone who, at their very essence, is love, can they really disapprove of love in any of its many forms, much less consider it a sin? It is not easy to overcome years of being told that what you are is sinful. But it is possible. (Feel free to PM me, if you'd like.)

It amuses me when people say things about how "guys are..." or "girls are..." and so much of it just seems to be so dependent on heterosexuality being the only option. Like, if you assume that not-straight people exist, or look at it from the point of view of someone not straight, these frameworks just tumble. And by amuses me, I mean that otherwise I would have to go off and be really sad about the world for a while. But. >.> Yeah. (Also: heteronormativity. What's up with that?) There are psychological differences between males and females which, on average, are true of straight people and gay people of both sexes. Humans aren't blank slates. But, psychology deals with general principles rather than individuals. When a lot of your friends don't follow said principles, though... it gets a little tiring to hear over and over again. (And I could start the "well, but gender is a socially constructed phenomenon, and we're just inculcated in the precepts as we grow up" sociology-versus-psychology discussion, but I don't really want to, having only had a semester of sociology. XD But that gets into weird grey foggy areas, and I don't really know enough on either side, so let's not.) *hugs Nova too* <3

*loooots of hugs for Nova* <3 Good luck with it all, Nova! It must be particularly difficult because of your situation but you're awesome and brave and will work it all out in the end <3 I've added you to the list. --- My town HAS no homosexuals, except for a guy... and me, the crazy bisexual. (Btw, you don't have to tell them if you don't want to. I haven't told anyone but you guys) Why did Love Game just come on I was about to quote the lyrics. Your town must be really small. xD;; Or really closeted. Lady Gaga is always watching Waiting. Ready to strike. --- First gay couple to get married in Argentina to get free honeymoon. Just a publicity stunt, but still! Good news anyway? :3

:3 Today I went to the Center for our state. Best day of my life. *LATE* The Centre? :3 LGBT Centre? *has no idea!* [glow=red,2,300]I imagine the decor there is quite tasteful. <3 Seriously, Sen, what's the story? ^_^ (I need to not typo your name as Sev. That is bizarre.) Forget Love Game - "I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It" deserves to be kicked in the junk for being a male fetish song. I suppose it must be popular among queers for a reason, but I can't ever see it as anything more than "Hey, new sexy scandal song!" Christianity and queerosity - Yeah, I'm a Christian. ... *waits for the laughter to subside* And I've never considered "gay" and "Christian" to be contradictory in any way. I was raised Catholic, and until I got to high school, I never heard the "the Bible condemns gays" schpeal. I absolutely agree with Sock. Men are imperfect and men are the ones who put the Word of God into writing, over and over, countless times through the ages. It's inspired by God, but it's not like Jesus himself ever put a pen to paper that we know of. It's only natural that the Bible is imperfect. You know which bit of the Bible I think is the most true? The bit that says that God will write His new covenant not on stone, but in our hearts. Much more permanent than stone, I'd wager, and much more efficient. None of these pesky words to get in the way. And if your heart says that you were born to love, cherish and honor one of the same sex, then no words written on transient paper can tell you otherwise. It seems to deal more with the fetish-y aspect of lesbianism, which I really don't appreciate. And as far as I Kissed A Girl songs go, I much prefer the one by Jill Sobule. Same basic concept, but different lyrics and it sounds much more innocent. Not to mention it sounds better in general.

Yay, acceptance and diversity. =D I'm glad it seems like a good place and that your mom finally agreed to take you there!
And yeah, not so much a Katy Perry fan either. Bisexual girls take enough flak without being accused of "you just kiss girls to make your boyfriend happy". But I feel like I don't know any non-straight people who are into her, really. Though my straight friends don't love her either, so maybe I just tend to hang out with non-Katy-Perry fans? Anyway...
So, my mom didn't tell her relatives when I came out, and I don't see them enough to come out to them just randomly. Which means they mostly found out when I got together with my girlfriend this past year. (Or alternatively when they friended me on facebook and I had a coming out day status, before that.) And so they're all "oooh, you are so brave for coming out!" and I'm holding myself back from just going, "Yeah, kinda been out since the middle of high school. You just are not a part of my life enough to know that. Sorry?"
I wish I could've just come out once and then everyone would know and, y'know, whatever. Except I don't really want to have had to deal with all the drama and quick reassurances and whatever at once, but still. Gah. Is the rest of life going to be like this? (Yes, yes it is. That doesn't mean I have to like it...)

*SUPER LATE*
The LGBT centre sounds awesome, Sen, glad you had such a meaningful time there! :3
I like... one Katy Perry song, one acoustic slow thing she did as a change of pace on BBC radio. All her normal stuff just sounds bad to me, let alone the stupidity of her UR SO GAY and I Kissed A Girl songs.
And yay Prop 8 is down! I doubt this will be the last time it'll be in court, but it's a great step for now C: From the ruling: "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples." Great news <3

Canadians were aware of it, at least Canadians I know. A year ago in high school, I know some of my friends had downloaded the music for "Prop 8: The Musical" (which, in case anyone hasn't seen it, is very funny).

Something I never knew: Iceland has an openly-gay Prime Minister. I honestly didn't think there'd be a gay government leader for a good few years yet, but it was last year! D: *OUT OF THE LOOP*
She was one of the very first people in her country to get a same-sex marriage when they were legalized :3
It made me happy to know <3
