Example clips of what, exactly? XD; Me doing battle grunts, or just my voice in general? If it's the latter, this is from a couple months back, but it's me trying to do different voice types. Though some of them might be kinda weird-sounding. (The first one's my regular voice, if you're curious.) If it's the former, I could go grab those old things I recorded for the GW movie, but those were with a worse microphone, so they wouldn't be as good sound quality. XD; (And I can't record any new ones ATM 'cause my mom's in the other room and she'll look at me weird if I start grunting like death in front of the microphone, so...) Example clips of anything, really. ^_^ How bad of a quality are the GW clips? If they're only a little bit fuzzy, I have a program that might be able to remove some of the background noise. The same program also allows me to alter the pitch and speed of sound effects, so if you're aiming to voice a character with a deeper or higher-pitched voice, I can assist you with that. =3 Those are some good examples. Looks like you've got some variety under your belt. ^^ If you want, you can take a swing at some quick, random voice clips (which can be either grunts or short sentences) and i'll see if I can play around with them. I'll post here again as soon as i'm able to think of some specific clips that are needed. I don't suppose the program is Audacity, by any chance? XD; 'Cause I have that program. And the thing is that they were done on a mic that picked up a bunch of computer noise (an internal mic, so I can't move it away from the computer or anything), so it takes some of the sound quality with it when I try to do noise removal... so yeah. Though it might not be all too noticeable, considering how they're just grunts. I dunno, I'd have to listen to them again. Thanks. XD; And sure, I'll record some random grunts and stuff next time I get the chance.

Um, this might be a bit stupid (I feel like a newbie again XD) but . . . is there anyway I could help in the game aside from beta-testing? (Plus, I would love to help Ikkin regain her memory.) . . . XD Memory all alone in the moonlight I can smile at the old days, I was beautiful then I remember the time I knew what happiness was Let the memory live again . . .. . . *coughmatchestheRPGcough* I gotta find a fantasy mix of that song. xD Anyway, there's not much I can think of as far as user contributions go... but I am having trouble finding good voice clips for the characters in the game. So, if you have a decent microphone and want to give it a shot, be my guest. ^_^ As a general rule of thumb, characters in the game will have the following voice effects: - 1-3 sounds that play randomly when a character attacks or swings their weapon - A sound that plays when a character is hit - A sound that plays when a character dies If there's enough interest in doing voice effects, I can post a list of characters that I don't have voices for. EDIT: Actually, revealing character names might spoil the plot a little... so I could post a list of the -types- of voices that I need. xD; Ehm, I don't have a microphone, period. >_> But if I ever have one, I'm definitely auditioning for voice-acting. :3

If I can find a good microphone for my computer, I'd be willing to do voices. I can do a pretty good range of voices, too(from girly-high to Blarfy-low), so if/when I get a mic, directly after I send in my voice samples to PFA for GWMovie, I'll send a few to you too.

I almost forgot I was gonna die in front of the microphone. XDDDDDDD So. Um. Here's a recording I threw together just now. www.freewebs.com/thelegendaryfemale/NTWF/dying.mp3 (copy-paste the link into your navigation bar to listen, 'cause Freewebs is weird that way) The first seven grunts are getting hurt grunts. The next two are dying grunts. The last one is me making a phailed attempt at imitating that lame dying sound effect the Defias guys make in World of Warcraft. Feel free to use/tweak/butcher them all you want.

Those are excellent, PFA! =D I've extracted some of the voice clips into WAV files. Once i've made another female fighter, I shall attach the sounds accordingly.

Sweet! =D Thank you. Combined with PFA's sounds, I should have a decent arsenal to play around with. There were a few parts in the random sounds that I giggled at, which is a good thing. x) In other news, i'm almost finished building the forest section of the game world, and I only need to complete one more puzzle area before continuing on to the second dungeon. My goal is to complete dungeon #2 by mid-January. ^_^

...Well, the mid-January goal didn't quite work out. xD; But fortunately, I achieved my second goal of completing the second dungeon by the time I move to Denmark. ^_^ So to everyone interested, Alpha 2 is now available for download. The first post of this thread has been completely revamped and includes a download link, a backstory, new screenshots, and the instruction manual for convenience purposes. (The reason i'm calling it Alpha 2 is because it includes content up to the 2nd Soul Gem.) I really do have to thank Ikkin for taking the time to play through the game and catching all of the really major bugs and glitches. If it wasn't for her help, you guys would have been left with quite an unbeatable mess. xD; If you're interested in bug testing, I would really appreciate the help! Before you begin your bug-hunting adventure, check the KNOWN ISSUES section for problems that i've already encountered. I am considering building a debugging utility for my testers in the future that will make going back to earlier parts of the game easier... but i'll keep you guys posted on that. Finally, I would like to announce that I am closing this thread to general game discussion. From now on, only use this thread for bug reporting. I have created a second Chat Thread in order to seperate general discussion from official bug reports and what-not. I won't enforce this rule too heavily as long as things are kept somewhat organized. xD; That being said, enjoy... and good luck! ^_^

Suggestion: Have the game in windowed mode by default. This is partly because I have a friend that says fullscreen games cause his computer to crash, and partly so it's easier to quit the game if it get's stuck. In the first cutscene, where it says 'good, they didn't break your legs or anything.' (It seemed to start moving again after I hit control+alt+delete.) And again at 'I think we're safe now.' I should probably mention that I ran it on an Ubuntu 9.4 'Jaunty' computer using Wine (I forget which version). It was also really slow for some reason, which strikes me as odd, because I think I done more memory/processor extensive Windows stuff without it slowing down.

The game comes with a shortcut that when double-clicked, makes it run in windowed mode right off the bat, but I shall make that change. ^_^ Ubuntu is Linux, right? Unfortunately, problems are bound to arise on operating systems other than Windows XP or Windows Vista. D: Also, if it seems to get stuck at those particular spots, chances are it'll happen all over the place. Although, one similarity between those two places is that there is an intentional pause in the dialog, so perhaps it's related to the lag from the computer itself. (It actually makes me wonder if PFA is going to have a similar slowdown on her Mac. D=) As for the lag... I think I read somewhere that the extension I used for the in-game text is known to cause major slowdown on some operating systems. Had I known that when I first started using it, I would have tried to find a different way to display text in the game. xD;

(It actually makes me wonder if PFA is going to have a similar slowdown on her Mac. D=) Yes. Yes I will. *hasn't even played and already knows, 'cause Virtual PC is and always has been the ultimate lagz* XD; As for the text issue, I don't suppose there's any way to come up with an alternative, now that you know it's causing lag? Or would that take a dang lot of recoding? EDIT: Just tried it, and actually, it wasn't nearly as laggy as I was expecting. XD; (I think Omni's method was laggier, which is odd to me...) But at any rate, I was attacked by some odd glitch happenings pretty early on. I think that was in the room where we were first introduced to the spiders? Somewhere around there? Anyway, I was just walking along, following Calin when I noticed I was overlapping with the wall, so I tried walking into it to see what would happen. XD Sure enough, I could walk all around on the black part, as if I were standing atop the wall. I couldn't walk through the sides or front though (the non-black parts). I was just on my way through the dungeon, just past the part with the guards I had to flee from, I think? Anyway, I was just walking along, when all of the sudden... a second Calin walked through the wall and joined me. The two worked together to kill the spider I was too mesmerized by the oddness to kill, and then led me down to the end of the hall where there was a hole in the floor. Both Calins started speaking, one with the regular line and one with what appeared to be one of Ikkin's lines. I couldn't read either very well 'cause they were overlapping, though the latter ended with a =D smiley. Anyway, the immense glitchiness of that phenomenon seemed to freeze my controls, thus making me unable to continue past that point. On a less glitchy and more pet-peeve-y note, I noticed one of Calin's lines using "i'm," with a lower case i, instead of an upper case I. I tried to take a screenie, but my attempt to do so furthered the dialogue instead... but I think that was in the dialogue bit where you come across the turtle guards. EDIT2: Looks like the lower-case i thing is more common than I thought. XD; I'm seeing it all over throughout the game... Yeah, it's the room immediately after the one where you flee from the guards. Every single time, without fail, the second Calin has walked through that wall and glitched up mah game. XD And despite my best efforts, the game always freezes right here, after the mass blob of glitch text. :< (Which I tried to screenie but ran into that screenie-buttons-causing-text-to-further thing again.)

Is the scrolling text only supposed to slow down the game when the text is scrolling? Because it was slow right from the first bit after starting the game, and other times when there wasn't text. Since you mentioned OS being a factor, I opened it under VMWare, which actually runs a Windows OS. And yes, it seems to run at normal speed. So for some reason it wouldn't let me pick up the fruit. That may have been a VMWare glitch, though, seeing how it also wasn't playing music the first time. I'll see if it happens again. EDIT: Nope, worked just fine.
The second time I tried skipping a bit ahead by walking through the hole when Calin was just telling me to walk around. When I realized it didn't work that way, I walked back to Calin, but the screen didn't scroll to the left, making it a bit hard to find Calin and continue.
After I freed Calin, there was an '!' lying on the floor.
And I ran into the twin Calin glitch PFA has. Hmm... I wonder if updating Windows would do any good...

Check the "data" folder in the game's directory, and there should be a file there called "font1.bmp". If there isn't, maybe the ZIP file didn't unpack all the way. If the file is there, but the game still won't recognize it, make sure the EXE is in the folder directly above the "data" folder. If it is and it still won't work, perhaps there's something fishy with the file detection system on older operating systems... PFA - Sorry about the slight grammatical err. xD; As for the Calin glitch... When you first enter a map after walking through a glowing arrow, does the game freeze up for more than a second? During the first second or so that a map is loaded, it removes all objects that aren't currently on the map, and I am led to believe that it's forgetting to delete the extra characters and objects when you play it. That could also be a cause for the extreme lag in Omni's case, since all of the objects in the entire dungeon could be kept running in the background even though they should be deleted since they're not on-screen. While you're playing, keep close attention to the edges of the map. If you see any monsters that suddenly enter the map on one of the edges, there I think that my theory is correct. I am afraid there's nothing that can be done about this until I can get my hands on a Mac and test it myself. I can assure you, however, that this definitely doesn't happen on a Windows PC. Ugh, I can't believe this. Three of my most dedicated testers and the game doesn't like any of their computers.

XD; I kinda figured that was just VPC's usual lag, but now that you mention it... Hmm, I don't know what to tell you. I don't suppose you could at least come up with some way to assure that the second Calin won't come walking through the wall? ^_^; You know, even if he exists, he won't be able to come over to where I am and glitch up mah game... *shrugs*
