Stick your head out the window and scream, I'll hear. But really. I usually get on MSN in the evening, or if I really want to talk I got out of the habit of turning it on all the time (mostly because there are only 2 people left on it I talk to, and they are usually to busy to talk any more). So getting back in the habit will need a little work. PM me. I've had many conversations that ran through PMs Facebook, check the facebook thread in Off Topic -> Other Places Online, for my info there. You can message me there. Need to warn if you befriend me though, I'll ignore people I don't know (even ignored Stal at one point ). Also my email. Check my profile for any info, or PM me.

Right. So PMing me through this thread is probably the best way to contact me, or e-mailing me (use my YIM id. @yahoo.com, of course.)

I've been debating joining this guild since it started, and I've decided that I'd really like to try roleplaying a different character for once. Name: Damien Alfonzo Dickerson
Nickname: Traditionally, "Dame", used only by people who really want to get on his bad side.
Age: 16
Appearance: Damien is tallish, measuring about 6'0, and extremely thin -- almost to the point of unhealthiness, but this fact is usually hidden under his multiple layers of clothes. He usually wears a pair of fur-lined boots, plain leather pants and a standard RSoA dress shirt, but he leaves it untucked and partially unbuttoned in what he supposes is a rebellious act. When he can get away with it, he wears a brown duster-style coat over it all. He's fair-skinned but not pale, with bright blue eyes and feathery, bleached-blond hair that would reach just past his shoulders if it weren't quite so unruly. He often ties chunks of his hair back with leather laces.
History: Damien is quite sure he was adopted. His father, Richard, never talks about his job, preferring to leave his family in ignorance. He does, however, spend a lot of time polishing his gun collection and scheming new ways to get his wife committed to the asylum. Damien's mother, Lucy, is as sweet and pure as the roses she tends to, but her mind has slowly disintegrated over the years to the point where she often forgets where she is altogether. The Brassport Asylum has deemed her "no threat either to herself or others" and has thus far resisted Richard's increasingly outrageous demands.
When he was fourteen, Damien suffered a traumatic bout of seizures in his own home before slipping into a coma, a reaction that was later found to have been caused by an unknown toxin in the household water tank (Damien has always suspected that it was a murder attempt meant for his father). He was only in the coma for four days and his complete recovery was declared a few months later. However, unbeknownst to anyone, Damien started using a street drug called "Vapour" for its painkilling properties, and quickly became hooked. He blames the drug for most of the problems in his life.
He's in his first year at the Royal School of Alchemy.
Personality: "Inconsistent" sums it up. He thinks of himself as a good person, and usually his manner is warm, friendly, and good-humoured. He's quite brilliant in both theoretical sciences and alchemy, but close to useless when it comes to building, mechanics, or anything actually practical. He's nervous under pressure and even at the best of times, he talks way too much way too fast -- but people like him, because it seems he never gets angry or upset.
Unfortunately, like all introverts, he has his own secret way of releasing all of the pain and frustration that builds up beneath the surface: he fights. And not just any kind of fighting. His hatred of his drug addiction has made him reckless enough that once a week, he dons black cloak and a copper mask, slips into the shadows of the night, and pilots his own gearbot as part of an underground and highly illegal tournament. Gearbot battling is a sport that has been described as "similar to mecha duels, but on a much smaller scale and with much more blood". While regarded as one of the best in the tournament, he is a slippery and ruthless fighter who has few fans and many enemies who would very much like to know his real identity.
He prefers to keep his two "lives" separate, which has only served to increase his state of mental distress.
Weapons: None. He refuses even to touch them.
But... as a gearbot fighter, he obviously has, well, a gearbot. His model stands about two feet taller than he does and is vaguely canine in design, with four claw-like blades attached to each "hand". The gearbot was designed and built by one of Damien's classmates for a school project, but she didn't want it, so she sold it at a charity auction to an unknown man in a black cloak.
...It would be a ridiculous understatement to say that it would take a lot for Damien to let his prowess with this particular weapon leak into his normal life, or for him to use it for anything outside of a shady competition.
Other: He has a pet collie named Russet, who very much disapproves of his late-night adventures without her.
Not that it'll matter until GW is over, but hey. ^_^ One particularly angsty and destructive woobie, reporting for duty.

Let me just start off with an apology.
I am extremely sorry for having disappeared on you all like that. It wasn't fair to any of you, especially those of you who were as involved in Brassport as you were/are. I also must apologize because I am unable to fully account for my actions. I must say that I hate doing this, but the reasons I disappeared are extremely personal. Were it just about me, and if revealing them only made me look bad, I would, but that is not the case, so I must ask you to trust me. Trust me when I say that it was an extreme situation that caused the departure, and one which took much longer than it should have to remedy. But while I can't promise you that it will never happen again, I can promise you that I'm more aware of situations like the one that happened, and will be better able to prevent them from happening and getting in the way of the Guild. So I can also promise you that I will be doing everything in my power to continue large levels of activity in the Guilds in general, and more specifically with Brassport itself.
I know Sarn has started a thread about a Steampunk comic, which looks highly interesting, and I have a few ideas myself about how to spruce up Brassport and get us all having a little more fun with our steampunk-y characters. That being said, I'd love to get some input from all of you on what you'd like to see for Brassport as far as events and activities, as well as an idea of what Brassport itself will look like.
This may warrant a new thread in time, but I'm drawing out the blueprints for Brassport, and would love to hear some input before I post the preliminary draft. Once I post that, I'm not saying that it's set in stone (no pun intended), so offer up suggestions and changes even then, until we have a Brassport that everyone is happy with, and is "set in stone."

Think nothing of it, Foxybrother. Well, Victorian cities, to my knowledge, weren't all that organized and since Brassport is a major city/capital, it'd likely be pretty old. So in the center would be all the major buildings and the oldest ones too. And then working a messy pattern outward in concentric circles. But I'm no expect on urban geographical tendancies.

You've got that right though, concentric circles is correct. Of course, that doesn't fully take into account the harbor, or the river, or the fact that the castle is outside the city... but in general, it starts closest to the harbor and builds outwards from there, except where temporary structures would have been replaced when they fell down (ie fishing shacks, if abandoned, would no longer be there)

You also have to take in the Steampunk/Inventor idea into account. Some of, what should be, Victorian style buildings may be altered with steam pipes, strange elevators, retractable air ramps, or other things that seem odd. Also, random thing that has nothing to do with Steampunk... I'm a big fan of foxes myself XD Over the years I've looked up all sorts of lore on Kitsune and other Yokai. The Fox being my favorite ^_^

Oh yeah Draco, very inventor-ish things will be on there (though first I'll be doing just an overhead map of "This is where things are"
And it shouldn't surprise me that there are 3 fox fans running around in the steampunk arena, should it? *curls up in a little fox ball for emphasis*

Yeah, the only real things we need are; -Overhead of the city -Close up overhead of all main places (Steampunk Guild itself, Aerodome, Gil's shop, etc) -A overall picture (how city looks from outside) (recommended but optional) -Overall picture of all main places (optional) Since the Steampunk guild is kind of strange, since it involves a whole city. So compared to other guilds, this is tougher --- And yeah. I'm a huge dragon fan, and that's my name sake... But I really like foxes ^_^ My knight character even has something to do with foxes Well... They like him for unknown reasons >.>

The overhead is what I'm starting on, as I have very little artistic ability, but city planning I can easily do 2nd, in the same thread as the city planning most likely, I'll look for people to do some artwork closeups of important places (People can submit places... I have a couple in mind that just never got a chance to get revealed during the RP) ---- As far as dragons go, I'm a fan, but I'm heavily drawn to winged foxes. In fact, if I'd just up and joined one of the other guilds, I might've made more of a persona character that was a winged fox. As it stands, I'm working with Steampunk (and even then not a persona, more of a character still)

[glow=red,2,300]I'm a fan of cats! *slapped out of the conversation* So yeah, the Steampunks need to start a guild, which I figure they'll do at the end of the RP once they figure out there's no way home. But whatever building they use as a guild hall will not have originally been a guild hall, so keep that in mind. The sections of the town: We have the rich residential, the poor residential, the industrial, the commercial. These are probably not split up cleanly per se. But the rich probably live by the sea or by the river. The poor are probably crowded into some tenements or what. The Academy should sprawl like any self-respecting olde academy. [/glow]

Actually, the poor residential, commercial and some industrial will be by the water, the richer sections will be a bit away from the stench.
As far as a "guild proper"... we should all have a discussion on the issue. I doubt we need one specific "guild hall" as Brassport itself supplies a good number of things. Perhaps the easiest way would be to form up a "company" instead of a guild. The plan was to have Blackstone Inc fall apart and a new "Brassport consortium" be built in its stead.
But that probably won't happen in GW now that many of the Steampunkers have gone inactive. I apologize again for disappearing from the GW scene. But that being said, I think this might all be best hammered out IC during a RP that happens soon after GWIII ends.
What say ye?

My views on this is that there has never been a guild. Heck they don't even know the name Steampunk. I mean, really, would you call yourself Steampunk in those days (if real). I think not I kind of set up a while ago about the name when I had my ninja character call Gil, 'Steampunk Gil,' as a joke on his ability to use steam and just calling him a punk. From what I could tell, most of the main Steampunk characters have been working in some way with the company, with everyone listening somewhat to Blackstone. After the GW, yes the company may fall apart. It may not. However, either way, a guild needs to be created. Remember that the original idea of guilds, in history, were to regulate a certain trade, and the workers, in the region. In recent history, that might be similar to the union... Kind of. Modern day media now places guilds as a group of people who share a common goal, like a over size club. So we need to form a Steampunk Guild when the GW is over. The guild can be used to help regulate the tech we have created or are creating. That way the whole world doesn't become steampunks *imagines a steampunk ninja* The pirates can benefit being steampunk XD *imagines a flying pirate ship* So yeah, we would have to regulate things a tad. As for the building. Either we can create a separate building just outside of Brassport, or we can be the first guild to have a base within a city. If it's in a city, we need to either take over a existing place or make a new one.
