O-kay, gentlemen. For all my constant running-around and prodding the guilds, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot I've done for my own guild in particular. And now's as good a time as any other to sneak back in and pretend this never happened >> Anyway, this is a head count. Show of hands, who's still here and active/would be active if the GW3 wasn't so dead/would be active if there was anything else going on?

[glow=red,2,300]So I heard you were doing a headcount. I'd like to inform you that my head is still here, as are both my hands. My brain may be here or may be drunk at a tavern in the back streets of Tabloid Town. Or eaten by zombies. Or eaten by Toka. [/glow]

Hm. Slim-ish pickings, but then again, compared to most guilds, we're still well off. I'm proud of y'guys :3 Not to mention I suspect that most people don't actually check this board for new posts unless it was the last updated topic.
So anyway, it's been a while since we actually did something pirate-only around here, and I think it's high time to bring that back. Any ideas are - and will continue to be - welcome, because the end of GW3 is still a while away, but what I'm suggesting here is some good old-fashioned looting. Probably in a roleplay form, and with any luck in a kind of small simple roleplay form, no textwalls necessary... stop looking at me like that. There was a pirate queen gathering last night and we figured that we could use the chance to explore, map and canonize the archipelagos in the west side of the map a bit, possibly by searching some ingredient or other for Zagora because we'll definitely end GW3 being in debt to her. Naming the roleplay West Side Story is still up for debate >>

I am most definitely up for some treasure hunting! And filling out maps. I loves me some map-making (and world-building) something awful. As long as people don't break out into SUPER references (i.e. breaking out into song), then I'm okay with calling it West Side Story. Otherwise: please no. But if I get outvoted, I won't hold it against anyone. (I work in the theatre a lot. Forgive me if I get tired of constant musical references. )

I am active enough to keep up with smaller threads, and if I can get more time then a pirate RP would be fun. So yeah.

Ahoyhoy. ^_^ I have an inquiry for all of you swashbucklers that were around during the events of GW1.
As you probably might know by this point, I'm working on an RPG that takes place before the events of the first Guild Wars plot, as an alternate origins story of sorts. I want to try and include the Pirates into the plot, and the story will pretty much establish how Ikkin became friends with them in the first place.
That being said, I need to know which of the pirates were around during GW1, as well as quick background stories for each of them (i.e. where they came from, how/why they joined the pirates in the first place, etc). If one of the pirates has an undefined history, it would work out really well, since I can use them to replace one of the original NPCs I created and have them join the pirates during the course of the game.
If any of you can give me a hand, I would be eternally grateful. ^_^

You can very well count me out of the story, Strife. I didn't join the pirates until after GW1. Previous to that, I was part of the ninja dojo.

[glow=red,2,300]I guess it depends on whether we consider Rider's captainship canon. Either way, she was a stray when she first joined, about 14 or 15, and she joined by stowing aboard a ship and working for her keep until they realized, hey, this kid can hold her own in a fight and has good loot-finding instincts. Let's make her a real pirate. She's originally from Earth, circa 2-3 centuries ago, but she grew up in Tabloid Town, and that is her real home.
If we're considering my captainship canon, I took over when Kat retired. If not, then I've always served as Hunty-kun's punching bag. <3
I like the "exploring the west" idea, but I also like the idea of taking advantage of the Knights' absence and ransacking Dunburrow. But not everyone takes as kindly to the notion of politics as I do. It'd make for interesting times for our Chikkin-chan and other Dunburrowites.
Though honestly, I'm not sure anyone else sees Dunburrow the same way I do. I think that whenever the knights are less active in the boards, their characters are less active in the world. That is to say, they're going after fewer evildoers and criminals and the locals need to make thier own law enforcement.
I might just be saying that because I want the knights to either be active or self-destruct. I'd prefer the former.[/glow]

I've thought a bit about the Captain Rider issue, and I could see it going several ways.
If Rider is captain in FQ, it would stick to GW canon more closely. Once Hunty comes into the picture, though, I don't want to nerf her established badassery in order to make her feel like a regular crew member instead of a leader. xD; So it'll be fairly obvious that Hunty's the one pulling the crew together and keeping everything in check, which would make Rider herself a "decoy" captain of sorts. Then again, it could cause some amusing dialog when Ikkin first meets Rider and doesn't believe that someone who looks so young could be the captain of an entire ship. x3
That reminds me - there's also the issue of Ikkin's Laser-Guided Amnesia. Rider's probably going to be the first pirate she encounters, and if they've been friends since before the events of the game, Rider would be able to recap everything she knows about Ikkin's past (including her status as a knight at that point). So on that note, it might be better for Ikkin to only be an aquaintance of the pirates at first, and earn their friendship through the course of the game.
Sooo, at this point, I can work Rider and Hunty in (and possibly your respective Meepit armies, but I'd have to find a way around copyright issues). Zylaa, being an anthro, would fit in perfectly with many of the other characters, but I'm still not sure if she was a part of the crew before GW1. Also, did Kat stick around after she retired, or did she jump over to the Mages right after?

I technically took part of GW1, but as a random 'came from nowhere, disappeared after a few posts' kind of chara, so as far as I'm concerned, it never happened x'D As for canon, I don't consider Kat's captainship canon (that was before the present guilds were formed and didn't figure into our stories) but Rider's captainship was canon, yes. It's just not acknowledged very much these days because Hunty isn't the type to dwell on the past. Our present history moreorless started when we all banded together with Rider and commandeered the Weewoo, although it's been kind of hazy until the post-GW1 roleplay where Cyborg mutinied and we got the blarf. Things became fully canon and chronological with and after that. But Zylaa and Kat have been in the crew since the hazy beginning, yes. Kat only ever disappeared mid-Redemption or so.
Hunty established her badassery as late as GW2, methinks xD Before that time, I was the self-appointed helmswoman and assorted odd jobs and took over de facto leadership in that post-GW1 RP because Rider wasn't around. The actual promotion took place offscreen sometime between that RP and GW2.
About this pending RP here: I would not at all mind establishing some actual in-world antagonism with the Knights, but I honestly just don't have high hopes about their activeness. And there's no fun in ransacking Dunburrow if we don't get some knights in the show to react to it. I suppose we could do both: start the RP with the idea that Zagora sends us to find some small plant/lizard/undead monkey/you name it, go to Dunburrow first to locate some convenient NPCs to give us a hint (oh gods, I'll get another recurring NPC out of this, I just know it) and then possibly branch out to the western islands if no guilders in Dunburrow take the bait. Speaking of which, I was thinking that while it'd be a pirate-centric RP, any other guildspeople who'd want to join it would be allowed to, considering how we're hardly in the position to be picky about who to interact with these days. Yay or nay?

I'd be happy to have Sarn in there with ye scallywags and I'm sure it wouldn't be a stretch to grab some random NPC knights too. ^_^

I'd be happy to help out with a knight character of my own. ^^ Strife's too much of a Big Bad to be used for a minor plot, so I could make a new character for it.

You are not allowed to take headcounts right when I have midterms/go on Spring Break! XD I'm still here. I'm always here. *feels old* I just have seen no way for me to contribute to GW3 in the limited time I've had free. Sorry, all.
I was there for the latter part of GW1 but didn't really do much... prompted Rider's magnificent creation of Deus Ex Machina, hung around, angsted when Ikkin took a temporary break from living.
I am all in favor of an exploration roleplay! <3 I think that would be lots of fun and opportunities for random creativity. As for knightly antagonism, that would be fun too. Antagonists are lotsa fun.
