With the help of his dear friends, Sarn was able to position himslef right underneath Vapor, pressing his back to her and using his wings to balance himself. He began to walk, the sharp scales of Vapor's side rubbing against his back but he ignored all other things save the need to put one foot in front of the other.
.....
Vailem was troubled. She had stood by her window, feeling the evil magic ooze around her. She had felt the minor tremors in the magical world that acted as aftershocks to the foul deed and now Vailem had glimpsed one of the Spikelings from her window high in Mage Manor. It had stopped at the edge of the forest and Vailem's Mage instinct had told her to flee. She had fought it with every part of her being.
Something now drew her attention. Something green had moved out from behind a stand of trees and seemed to be rolling up the gentle slope to the Manor. Another glance told her that it was in fact a green Dragon. Vapor!
She ran out her door, down the staircase and then burst into the entrance hall, the Manor's magic speeding her on her way, and stopped just outside the main door as Sarn, Azzie, Nevar and Chaos, Bloiders all, came trudging up the lawns with an unconcious Vapor on their shoulders.
"Lucky I'm a healer," she said as they lugged the dead weight inside, "what happened?"
.....
Reith was sprawled in a heap at the base of a steep inclune. Her hand had slipped from that of Talai and she had fallen, head first, down into the brambles. She curled herself up, praying that no Spikelings had followed, and hoped that Talai would find her. She would wait for him.
Neither of them were familliar with this part of the forests and she was unsure where the other Bloiders had run to in the chaos that their retreat had caused. All she could do was wait.
.....
Vailem instructed the group to deposit Vapor in the entrance hall. Sarn shifted out from under her and gently lowered her to the ground before collapsing himself. Everyone was exhausted, both emotionally and physically. Sarn lay against Vapor's uninjured neck and stroked her gently with his hands and his mind, coaxing her gently from her slumber.
Vailem nodded her approval at the group and began to work, channeling her power into the wounds and instructing them to knit together, mending. It took her a long while to mend the physical wounds and then she moved on to inspect the Bloiders who had turned up, healing their injuries and instructing them to rest.
"I've done all I can for her," she said as she approached Sarn, still sitting by Vapor's head, "the rest is up to her." She went to work, healing Sarn's major injuries including his crippled wings and all the while, the winged man kept his mind pressed against Vapor's, willing her to awaken.

Darkness clinging to the edge of her vision, Vapor blinked slowly with a huge will. She groaned, shuttering, snapping them shut again. The dark prickling in the back of her mind had nearly dissipated, but drowsiness still weighed heavily on every movement. Her thoughts were sluggish, and she couldn't form an idea- except for the urge to get up.
She stirred, trying to prop herself up. She felt a soft presence brushing her mind. A small smile touched her face. Sarn... Forcing her eyes open again, she recognized the warm stone of Mage Mannor. She grasped out for Sarn's hand. Lovelet...?

Azzie set Vapor gently on the floor of the Manor and smiled. Her energy was back, she could feel it. Azzie? came a voice from within her head. You aren't in your room. Where are you? Azzie grinned. Adrianna! she sent. Without a word to her comrades she ran out the front doors of the Manor and around the side. Her tree was there, surrounded by the small Mage Manor garden as always. A white Uni stood beside the tree, watching Azzie intently as she approached. "Adrianna!" she called happily. "You know this isn't my room." "This is your hammock," Adrianna laughed. She liked to call the garden Azzie's room, although only the tree was really hers. "Where have you been? I went to Tabloid Town to find you, but you weren't there." Azzie sighed. "Oh, man. Evil Melody is up to no good, again," she said. Adrianna shot a jet of water from her horn in surprise. "What? I thought she'd settled down!" "Apparently not. She's got some kind of dark magic on her side. Candy said some glowy green thing was making her happy. We didn't see it, but she had some pretty creepy things with her. They beat up Vapor pretty bad," Azzie said. Adrianna looked shocked. "Vapor your dragon friend? Is she okay?" Adrianna exclaimed. Azzie beckoned her forward, back toward the entrance of Mage Manor. "I don't know. One of the healers has her right now, so we'll have to trust her. " Azzie wanted to believe her own words. But Adrianna began trotting, and Azzie becgan to run, and she was very grateful to her friend as they entered into Mage Manor again.

((Note; I removed the group of gathering random bloiders from my earlier post as I had thought we were on the edge of the forest but we're actually deeper in. Plus they wern't needed XD))
Evening was approaching and the birds all through the forest were preparing to roost for the night. Lysa sat next to the exuasted Chris. "We will have to stay here for the night. We don't know where any of the others are and I don't think either of you have the energy to wander around in the dark forest looking for the other bloiders. Teigra will look after us, we'll be safe." "On that note." Lysa added. "Where is Teigra?!"
Teigra had wandered through the trees a little, intending to locate another bird. She was too late however, all the birds were up in their nests, shuffling their feathers for a bed-time clean. Intending already to turn back, as she never left Lysa for long, Teigra picked up a somewhat familiar scent. She followed the smell for about ten minutes, and crept through the trees as it became stronger. She could see a person, lying at the bottem of a small cliff in the forest. It was Reith.
Reith was getting worried at the time she had spent waiting for Talai. As dusk approached and she got more worried her senses seemed to heighten. She could hear every rustle in the leaves and she could make out faces in the shadows through the trees. As she lay there, wondering what to do next she imagined a particular rustle was caused by a foot, then a pair of amber eyes and a big black nose appeared between the trees.
Teigra stepped out, purring deeply as she recognised Reith as one of the bloiders from the group before, although they hadn't met. Reith like-wise recognized Teigra, although not particuarly fondly, she did realise this meant Lysa must be close. Teigra walked back to where Lysa, Candy and Chris were, leading Reith, tired and wary.
About 15 minutes after Lysa had noticed Teigras absence, Lysa noticed her return through the trees. Lysa hadn't been greatly worried about Teigra, but always felt a little lonley when she was gone. Reith was happy to have found the bloiders, having realised she had come back to where the others had first fallen. "Talai?" Lysa was also happy to see another bloider, safe. "Nope, sorry, only Chris has come back so far. We're going to stay the night here I think. Im Lysa by the way, and it was Teigra who found you. What happened?"
((remember Reith can be controlled by all xD))

((Though I have no gender now, I'm going to continue being a girl here.))
Chris, finally managing to catch his breath, looked over at Lysa. He wasn't sure how he would explain the Spikelings, but, "The Spikelings attacked us. Evil Melody is in control.. I think." he was dazed, not sure what to add on. All he wanted to do was lie down and go to sleep, but fear kept him awake; fear of being attacked in his sleep, besides the fact that he thought Lysa might have more questions for his vague description. Clutching his notebook, he reached into his pocket, took out a pencil, and drew a picture of a Spikeling. "This is a Spikeling. They have powerful dark magic and club-like weapons, but we found that their weak spot is their eyes.." he turned around, making sure that there weren't any coming. "And there's hundreds of them.." he finished for the time being, tearing the Spikeling drawing out of his notebook.
* * *
Drew was still in Mage Manor, tired. She saw Melody come in, blood soaking part of her white shirt. At the moment, everyone was helping Vapor, which left Drew to heal. Her healing magic was not the best, and at the very least, Melody had some broken bones.

((Drew, Vailem saw to Vapor and then moved on to the rest of the forumers gathered. Sarn was the last one she tended to so Melody would have been healed by now unless she was not in the room, you may have to specify if that is the case))
Sarn saw Vapor's eyes slide open and gaze at him blearily. Her claw moved and he grasped it in his own warm hand, leaning in and hugging her tight to his chest, unable to hold back the tears. She had done so much to save him, suffered so much pain on his behalf and the least he could do was to give her his all back.
He sat back up after a while. "How do you feel?" he asked, a note of worry still hidden in his voice.
Vailem made her rounds again, returning to Vapor's side and checking up on her before moving off to check the others again. Azzie had gone outside, Nevar sat against the wall and Melody and Drew... Drew! he called with his mind rather then his mouth and then realised his mistake. He stood, touched Vapor reassuringly and looked around to see where she had got to.
Little droplets of blood littered the flagstoned floor of the entrance hall, a fact which did not bother Sarn in the least. He knew that the Mano was magic in and of itself and the floors would be pristene again the next morning.
He spotted Drew on the far side of the room with a deshevelled-looking Melody. He noticed more blood as he came closer and wondered if Vailem had seen to Melody yet. As a precaution, he called out to her as he came to stand by the two women.
"Are you both alright?" his voice broke in concern. So many forumers had not made it to Mage Manor. For one thing, he was glad that Vapor and Drew and everyone else here lived but his mind still worried for those who had not come. Perhaps they had been claimed by the Spikelings?
NO! he roared at himself, they didn't hear Nevar's call, thats all. They are alive.
He thought of Lysa and Candy, in the middle of the forest were they had been earlier in the day and then he thought of the other forumers who had fought and the fled without knowing where to come.
Darkness was closing in on them, the sun had gone down and Sarn knew that they would not be able to risk the forest until dawn. Whoever was out there, he hoped they would find each other and stay safe. The Spikelings were born of Dark Magic and Dark Magic ruled the night.

Panic fluttered in Vapor's chest as she felt Sarn's soft presence leave her side. Lifting her head, she felt a measure of relief as she realized her vison was clearing. She could see clearly, now, the warm stone of Mage Manor and the 'bloiders gathered together. There was Sarn, speaking in muted tones to Melody and Drew. So few? She whispered. What happened to the others? Worry furrowed her brow. I have to get up.
Encouraged by the energy suddenly fueled by anxiety, Vapor managed to prop herself up on her elbows. She was sore, stiff, but no mark lay on her scales. She blinked, surprised. They must have a healer! She realized. As soon as she had gotten to the point where she was sitting upright, she unfurled her wings with hope.
Vapor smiled. There was no answering twinge of pain from the motion. Whatever healer they have found, they are a good one. She mused to herself. That's reassuring. It looks like in these times of fighting, we'll need one. We'll need all the help we can get. Steadying herself, she looked for her lover. Sarn! Could you come here?

" Well, now that you're better, I'll be taking this back." Chaos stated taking his hoverboard. " Umm who was it I gave my guns to, because I'll be needing those back?"

Though Drew was weary, she still managed to heal Melody. Or so she thought, she was determined to stand even if she was injured. " Umm who was it I gave my guns to, because I'll be needing those back?" Melody heard, and realized she was still in possession of the guns she was loaned, and returned them. "Here..thanks."
Drew looked over at Sarn; Melody had only just arrived, but seemed better. "Things are fine. Melody would probably keep walking even if she was wounded.." she glanced outside, concerned about others. Had they made it..? turning back to Sarn, "The others... are they okay?" still looking outside, she saw an endless crowd of Spikelings wandering about, pale moonlight on their ghostly white skin.

"The others... are they okay?"
"I don't know," Sarn said softly, frustrated by his lack of use in the whole situation. He followed Drew's line of vision and saw the Spikelings in the night, prowling around the edges of the forest and howling their horrific cries at the moon.
Mage Mano had hidden itself from all but friendly eyes but Sarn now hoped that Lysa and the others stayed as far away from the Manor as possible. The Spikelings may not be able to see it but they knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Bloiders came this way. They would wait for true darkness before venturing out of the forest and Sarn prayed that the magic of the Manor was strong enough to withstand them, at least for tonight.
Vapor's mind brushed his and pulled him back to the here and now. He rushed over to her, seeing her trying to stand up and looking fairly drunken in the process. He couldn't help but smile at her until one of her wings shot out and almost knocked him over. He stumbled backwards, saving himself by balancing his wings.
"Did you do that on purpose?" he teased her.
.....
Nevar sat in the corner plotting. He had been left alone for the most part and he wanted it to stay that way. Plans were chasing each other around his head, forming connections, breaking off or sinking to the utter darkness. He needed to know what to do.
.....
Reith sat huddled in a blanket, curled against a tree while the other forumers talked. All she could think about was Talai. Talai's spear that saved her from the Spikelings, his hand, warm and secure, guiding her in their flight, his cry of anguish as she fell. Why had he not come for her? He had been feet away from the place where she had fallen but the forest was thick and she had no idea where he might have gone.
"Should we light a fire? The Spikelings seemed to hate the light."

Vapor smiled at Sarn. No. She said, but a fey glint in her eyes suggested otherwise. Suddenly, she turned somber. Those things... those Spikelings...are powerful. Incrediby powerful. At the pain of sounding arrogant, I didn't think they would have been able to take me down. Vapor paused. We need to find out how the Evil Melody is controling them, exactly what they are, and the best way to defeat such large numbers of them. Vapor frowned. What upsets me most is that they stink of dark magic. Reek of it, in fact. What ever they are, whatever controls them, it's... She faultered. It's wrong, awful. I... lost control of myself when I first felt it.
Vapor glanced over their meager number with sad eyes. What happened to the others, I wonder? She sighed. Even if they were here, we're vastly outnumbered. She glanced up sharply, as though she had remembered something. I'd like to take a few others as soon as posible out to the Tabloids, to recruit as many as we can find, and... to see if there's been any damage done, if the Spikelings have spread.
Vapor leaned forward, attempting to get up. She gasped out as there was a sudden shock of pain in her wing. Falling back, she smiled sheepishly. Although... Prehaps I'm not entirely healed yet...

Azzie rushed in, Adrianna rearing up behind her. "I had no idea they followed us all the way here!" Azzie exclaimed. She noticed some 'bloiders who had just arrived, and felt relieved. She realized just how nervous she really was then, how dire the situation. Melody's shirt was bloodstained. Azzie's knees buckled out from under her unexpectedly and she felt a tear stream down her cheek. No, she thought. I won't do this. It wasn't real, after all. It couldn't be. She was merely having a dream, the kind that came when there was a chill on the wind. But as the tears kept coming, she knew that somehow it was real, and that outside lurked more danger than she'd ever faced. Her mind went to Candy and the others. Were they okay? They must be. Azzie wouldn't allow herself to believe anything different. She felt a cloud-soft muzzle touch her hand, and she looked to see Adrianna laying beside her. Azzie reached out to stroke her Uni friend whose flank was, she now realized, shaking like a leaf. The girl's tears flowed on.

((TIMESKIP!!! If you're not happy, I can always delete this but we need to get things moving a bit more))
The night passed in tension, moving achingly slowly as the Bloiders in Mage Manor waited for dawn. Sarn lay against Vapor's warm side, his wings spread backwards over her and his hand resting on her hard scales. He dozed fitfully and woke several times, having been spooked or thinking that he'd heard something. Every time he moved he hoped that he had not woken Vapor.
No one had moved from the entrance hall, no one wanted too and no one had suggested it. Some slept while others paced quietly but Sarn was fairly sure that none of them slept soundly.
When at last the first light of dawn pushed itself above the horizon, he stood quietly and went to peer out one of the high windows, hovering by the glass panes and squinting into the sun. His sharp eyes spotted movement in the forest but he couldn't make out what it was.
He floated back down to the warm floor, rubbing his eyes and sat back down, waiting for the others to stir. When they did, those with flight would have to sneak out of the Manor and try to find as many forumers, Bloiders or not, as they could.
((This is an opening for anyone who has been lurking and wants to be found, its not too late.))

Chaos stood, well balanced, on the top of a tower on the manor. He looked at the approaching army. They were terrible creatures, but they would learn how terrible he was. And he was very terrible. He then decided to go back into the manor. He paced around until he saw Sarn awake. " So, what's the plan?"

((Thank you for reviving this!))
Azzie awoke with a face full of silky white fur and felt an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude to Adrianna, who seemed to be sleeping. The night had been wretched. Azzie never slept a great deal, preferring to look up at the stars and think, occasionally taking a walk. But last night all she could think about was her friends, her dear friends who were, so far as she knew, still in the forest. Tears had fallen more than a few times in that hollow night. When she did sleep, Azzie had fitful dreams of ghostly figures with dark eyes, terrible shrieks and a quiet, evil laugh. Now she stood, the sudden urge to fly off and find her friends. Adrianna could not come along; she must leave before her friend awoke and insisted on putting herself in danger. Azzie could fly and the Spikelings could not. She'd just have to be careful, was all. She turned around, poised for flight, and her heart sank. Sarn and Chaos were already awake. Her drive to find her friends remained, but her courage faded. "Guys," she said quietly. "We have to find them."
