Name: Talon Age: 2,861 and counting Species: Gryphon Gender: Male Apperance: Talon is an ancient Gryphon with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. His fur and feathers are of mixed browns from tauny to dark chocolate except for the flight feathers of his wings which are such a pale shade of brown that they look white. His eyes are golden with brown irises. He is around the same height as a human and is strong enough to carry two on his back for short distances. Personality: Talon is rather cynical, having spent much of his life being persecuted by humans. He is one of the only Gryphon to live outside the mountains but he still retains a strong telepathic link with his Clan. He enjoys being alone but does not object to company. He has little compassion for most humans but he refuses to harm innocents. Powers: Telepathic links with his Clan allow Talon to call for their aid in extreme hardship. He had some training in air magic when he was MUCH younger but has forgotten most of it and is averse to using it. He can speak telepathically with anyone and can also block others from speaking so with him. History: Talon is old even by Gryphon standards. He once had a Master who taught him how to use his mind and Talon still loves and respects his Master more then any other living creature. Since moving away from his Clan, Talon has lived mostly as an outcast although he has sometimes worked for the humans in return for food but only when he was desperate. Talon watched as the sun went down, ignoring everything but the intensity with which it shone. He loved the sun but he hated the day. Day was when the humans came out and day was also when Gryphon normally slept. He had found himself a comfortable place in a cave overlooking a little stream that same morning and had stayed up to watch the sunrise. He liked sunrise better then sunset, though he wasn't quite sure why. He had seen thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of these events and yet they never lost their beauty. As the dying rays of light glittered their last on the trickleing stream, Talon rose from his place by the cave mouth and paced down the slope, using his wings to balance. He paused at the boundry to the forest, wondering if it was such a good idea to leave the safety of the cave, to wander so close to the humans. A moments deliberation bought him to the only logical conclusion. He had to go. It had been days since he had eaten anything substantial and he needed to find some wild game to tide him through the next few days. If any humans strayed too close, he could easily dispatch them and if they came in force, well... He could fly well, his wings, tucked neatly against his back, were strong and fast but his bulk was large and cumbersome, he was not agile like his smaller cousins, the cats. He was large, heavy with muscle and, although he could fight well enough, he dubted his chances of escaping if he were to somehow be overpowered. The need for food drove him onwards despite the danger. He was hoping to come across a farm, perhaps he could sneak away with a cattlebeast. He briefly considered flying to the nearest farms but pushed the thought away as soon as it had come. Flying was faster but on a night like this, with so many humans in the city by the forest, he would be an easy target for their long range weapons. Talon had lost his cousin that way and he knew better then to challenge such advanced weapons, especially when Gryphon found it so hard to manouver in flight. Some shadows moved in the darkness ahead, oddly distorted by the angle of moonlight. Talon froze, listening and sniffing, trying to determine if they were friend of foe. He could not smell manflesh in the air so he appreached to forests edge with caution. He crouched among the undergrowth, peering out at the figures. His excellent night vision spotted a vampire, a pixie and a fallen angel moving quickly together and conversing in low, tense voices. They were not foes but in a world like this, Talon knew never to assume that strangers were friendly. He advanced cautiously, knowing he could defeat each on their own but unsure if he would be a match for them if they decided to team up against him. He padded softly, making no noise as he appreached from out of the darkness. He growled slightly to announce his presence and then opened his mind to speak with them telepathically. His eagle beak could not cope with such complex words. Who are you?

" They were dark grotesque creatures. They had powerful weapons." Gabriel stated, " Wait, you don't mean, you think. No, this is bad."
"Oh, what if it was Him, Gabriel? What if He is back?," Jess asked, her voice trembling. "Max looked freaked when I saw her, what if she knows whats going on. Where the monsters came from. Lets go see whats she is saying." And with that Jess tore off toward where Max was speaking to a growing group.

Who are you? " What was that, Jess I'll meet youy there in a few." Gabriel said as he spotted a gryphon. " Um was that you that spoke to me? If so, I am Gabriel, I am a fallen angel. Me and my friends are on the run from the humans. Who are you?"

It was I, growled Talon, directing his thoughts at the one called Gabriel, and if you are enemies of the humans, as you say, then we have a common purpose.
Talon approached the Fallen Angel, inspecting him with his piercing gaze, examining his mind and seeing in it the same darkness present in most every 'Monters' mind. A moment of silent speculation passed before Talon spoke again.
I am Talon, Elder of the Gairne Clan from the Eastern Mountains. What is this gathering your friend spoke of?
Talon was not keen on fighting humans but he did like to keep himself informed of the affairs of both humans and Monsters. He decided that the meeting was worth a visit, even just for a while. His hunger could wait.

" Well Talon, it seems we do have a common purpose. This gathering, I'm not too sure myself, but I believe it may have something to do with the possible return of the Dark Lord." Gabriel stated.

"...I'm not too sure myself, but I believe it may have something to do with the possible return of the Dark Lord."
Something dark and hidden inside Talon roared to the surface, his mind began to reel and his whole body tensed, every muscle quivering, ready. His instincts were screaming at him to flee, to find the safety of the mountains once more and never leave them but reason kept him still. He gave no obvious physical reaction but simply stood still as the information was processed and his options weighed.
He could go back to the mountains, the Gairne Clan would welcome him back warmly, he was one of their Elders, many long years ago. But he also knew that there was a shortage of food in the mountains. The presence of another Gryphon would only make things worse. He was hungry enough here where the food was, if not abundent, then at least present.
Talon was by no means a coward. He had fought the Dark Lord himself, claw to hand, and proved himself in battle. But nor was he stupid. He had seen first hand the power of the Dark Lord and his minions and he was wary. It was a healthy respect for a power greater then his that kept him from launching himself into the air to hunt the hideous man down himself.
Talon flexed his wings, still watching the Fallen Angel carefully. It took him a while before he could formulate an answer.
I shall come to this meeting, but I may be of no use to the monsters, in which case, I shall take my leave.
Without waiting for a reply, he walked past Gabrial and followed after his friend who was now out of sight in the darkest night.
((Sorry about my bad RPing guys, I'm still learning and perfecting my style and what-not.))

(Sarn it's really good.) " Well Talon, we can use as many allies as we can get. The Dark Lord seems to have corrupted some of the monsters, and all of the humans. So basically the odds and ends are left over as the rebel force. Hurry, let's go I think the meeting is starting." Gabriel stated as he began to fly off to the meeting.

Talon watched Gabriel take flight, dug his own claws into the soil, spread his huge wings and lifted off from the ground, climbing as high as the clouds before levelling off and following behind Gabriels dark figure.
As he flew, Talon kept his keen eyes to the ground, watching for humans and the tell-tale signs of weapons designed for the purposes of destroying Monsters. He hated the monsters who had turned to the humans and served them and he hated himself for having no choice to do so on more the one occasion. He was strong and fierce and the humans prized such qualities.
After a while, Gabriel began his descent so Talon angled downwards as well, throwing out his wings to catch the rushing air like a parachute and slow his dive. He landed like linen, silently sweeping the grass for a few meters before dropping further and folding his wings neatly by his side. He decided to look rather imposing and managed to do so quite easily with his massive bulk.
They had arrived in a secluded part of the forest where the trees grew thicker except for a clearing where they had landed. Talon stood in the shadows at the edge, waiting for everyone to arrive and the meeting to start before he drew attention to himself.

Once i felt it was safe i stopped running amazed not by how may people didn't believe me but the ages of them they were all young non of the elders believed me. I looked more carefully waiting for it to get quite but now i sensed an elder it must be a strong one to have not been able to sense it at first but what surprised me most was it was a Gryphon they tend to stay away from other and violence in the first place."the dark lord has returned i saw him with my own eyes, i heard him planning to have a giant attack on creatures again there may not be many of us but we have to prepare to be ready to fight i have some ideas but if any one has some question or suggestion on what to do pleas speak so one at a time please".

Lurking around the periphery, Talon saw a vampire in the midst of gathered beasts. She was looking in his direction and he felt the brush of her mind, sensing him. He closed his own mind, building up defences, placing blocks and turning his mind into such a maze that she would never be able to scratch below the surface. He left only a small channel through which he could communicate with those around him.
He sat down, stared back at her with sharp eyes, and sent her a thought.
I am the exception to the rule. If you are so curious, why not be polite and speak to me?
Despite the dread of the situation, the awful purpose for which they met, he found it slightly amusing that she jumped in shock as his words entered her mind. A deep grating sound came from within his chest as he laughed softly.

I winced in shock as the elders voice entered my mind "I am the exception to the rule. If you are so curious, why not be polite and speak to me?" I had never met a telepathic before and not only was this Talon one but he was a strong one at that for he had blocked his mind and send a message. " i am young and still mastering my powers i haven't mastered this yet" i attempted to say and succeeded. "what does an elder like you have to say about the situation."

"what does an elder like you have to say about the situation."
Talon thought on the matter for a moment. He hated making a judgment without all the information and he hated assuming any mantle of authority. He glanced around at those assembled and sighed inwardly. There were many but most were not fighters and those that were seemed irrational.
He turned his attention back to the vampire who seemed to be standing closer now.
I would gather as much information as I could and try to formulate a plan that would allow us to eliminate the Dark Lord without provoking outright war.
He projected his thoughts into the minds of every creature there, booming them out in what others might have thought was anger but which was truely the spirit of Talon's youthful fierocity.

"Gathering information is definitely needed. But we also need to recruit more on our side, and we need to slowly take down the army of the Dark Lord. I'm no good for recruiting, but the killing, I can do." Gabriel stated.

"What of those of us that are unable to fight," a voice boomed beside Jess. She turned around to find the culprit non other then her own brother. The brother that jumped up, fists ready, at the mere mention of the word fight. She glared at him. "What?!" he asked confused by the venomous glare that had suddenly spread across his sisters face. "Jake!" she hissed at him, "You love to fight. You have to fight in this war! What would Mum and Dad say if they knew you were going to just skip out of the war against the man that took their lives." Nobody knew who actually started the fire, but Jake knew that Jess was sure it was the Dark Lord, even though the fire was after the Dark Lord was first defeated. She had never thought he was really gone. A look of pain spread across Jake's face. "I am fighting Jess, your not," he said matter of factly before stalking off into the dense crowed. " Jake, we may need your sister's ability in the war, if there is a war. Her healing will be a great asset. Now for all those who are not able to fight, we need information scouts for sure. Those who can heal, will definitely be needed. Psychics would be useful. We need strategists." Gabriel stated.
