Sword and Shield may be the last mainline games that I get, thanks to this. I still have my preorder, but I'll strongly consider cancelling it if any more controversies/bad news come up. It will be easy for me to cancel it, as I did not have to put any money down when I made the preorder

I say I will delay getting it, but I still have that long backlog of the longest games ever so maybe I'll just conveniently forget to get the game until I can find a used copy under $20.

Hello all! Sorry I'm not active on the forum anymore, I'm not really active on Neopets or the NT, but I do still enjoy the friends I've made here.
I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in being friends on Pokemon Go? I have a quest where I need to add more friends, and I've already added the people I know who play. My trainer code is 6959 3616 1715; I'm Jadesage there.

Soooo, yeah XD Still lurking around here is a norm XD I'm not on Pokemon Go... But if the others were more active, sure they would.

If anyone here still plans on getting Sword and Shield and wishes to remain unspoiled, I would suggest going dark now. It appears that images of the games are starting to leak. Of course, it's best to assume that all unconfirmed information is fake until proven otherwise. But if you'd rather be safe than sorry, then it would be a good idea to be careful where you go on fansites and social media from this point on. (Serebii will still be safe to visit, since Joe Merrick has said on Twitter that he won't be posting any information from non-official sources until he personally has the games in two weeks. And when he does begin his coverage, he'll be using spoiler tags. That of course, only applies to the main site and not the forums)
Assuming the leaks are real, the only thing I'll say outside of a spoiler tag -since it's the one thing most people want to be spoiled on- is that Grookey's and Sobble's evolutions are included. As of this writing, I haven't seen anything regarding Scorbunny's line.

Indeed. I've seen like 15 separate spoilers today just from browsing the internet. Not even looking for/at Pokemon content specifically. X'D So if you want new Pokemon and other such things to be a surprise, I suggest maintaining a distance from social media, gaming news sites, and youtube. If these leaks are real, oh boyyy. I really dislike a lot of these designs. X'D

Killix : What really grinded my gears in the week before Sun/Moon was released was that people on Youtube were putting major story spoilers in the thumbnails with titles specifying exactly what was going on. It'd be nice if they'd kindly cut that crap out this time around, but I suppose that'd be too much to ask... The only leaks I've been actively seeking out this time are those pertaining to the starters. I've caught a few glimpses of other Pokemon and some general descriptions here and there, but I'm trying to keep as many Pokemon a surprise as possible. I remember being so disappointed that it took me several hours into X/Y to find a Pokemon that wasn't revealed beforehand, and that Sun/Moon only had a handful of Pokemon that they didn't show in the pre-release period. So on the topic of starter evolutions: I think everyone expected Grookey to eventually becoming a big, hulking gorilla. But Rillaboom is actually a lot cooler than I was expecting. Which kinda makes me upset that I sort of like it, because I was looking for a good excuse to not use the Grass starter for the fourth Generation in a row. XP Up until just a short while ago, all we had of Scorbunny's final evolution was a small, blurry picture, and I for the life of me cannot understand how people could make a solid judgement on it based off of that. Now that there's a clearer image of Cinderace, it looks cool and I think I'll probably end up choosing it. (For the above stated reason, and also because I've been Team Scorbunny this whole time) The thing that bugs me about its design though is the dark blues; that just looks really weird on a Fire-type, and should have been black or gray instead, I think. Sobble's evolution is... uh, interesting? Not gonna lie, I actually laughed the first time I saw Intelleon. That being said, I think it might grow on me a bit? Apparently there's an image of its Sugimori art floating around (In addition to someone getting the game early, someone else managed to get the guidebook as well) that actually makes it look really cool. I think if people saw that first, general fandom opinion on Intelleon might have been different. (Reminds me of Delphox a bit; it looked REALLY boring as a static 3D model, but looked way better in its Sugimori art. Incineroar was the same way, in that it took until me seeing its animations for me to warm up to it)
However, one thing that really disappoints me about the starters is that they're all mono-typed. That is, pure Grass, Fire, and Water respectively. I know we haven't had a mono-typed starter since Generation V and the only other time all three of them were like that was way back in Generation II, but still. Better than Cinderace being Fire/Fighting, I guess, but I was still hoping for it to be Fire/Electric... (Likely annihilation by Earthquake notwithstanding)

For anyone who is interested in knowing Sw/Sh's returning Pokemon, the Pokedex has been data mined. Spoilers below. (No spoilers for new Pokemon designs, only returning mons. All returning Pokemon with Galar forms are marked as such, so if you consider that information to be a spoiler, beware!) Green: Present in Gen 8 Dark Green: Has a Galar variant White: He's dead, Jim (Image source is from a Polygon.com article) Oh boyyy, most of my favourites are gone. I can safely pass on this game. :P

(spoiler response to Killix) I can understand cutting Pokemon for reasons of space. But where's the sense in only having some of the starters??? You'd think the starter Pokemon would be the first they'd include, but you can't get the Bulbasaur or Squirtle lines! And none of the Johto or Hoenn starters either...ergh.

More spoiler replying More like none of the starters except for the Charmander line. XD Charmander is the only survivor.
If I counted correctly, there are 320 total returning Pokemon. That's less than half the roster. 8X

I do wish to point out the the list in Killix 's post does contain spoilers for as-of-yet unrevealed Galarian Forms (In that the image shows which Pokemon get them. It doesn't show the actual new designs), so just bear that in mind. The absence of the Bulbasaur and Squirtle lines basically sums up why I've been so annoyed with the blatant favoritism that Charizard has been getting the past several years. Yes, I get it. He's one of -if not the- most popular Pokemon. But the problem isn't that he's getting all this attention; it's that he's getting all this attention at the expense of other Pokemon. Venusaur and Blastoise not getting Gigantamax forms would have been annoying enough, but not having them in the game at all is just astounding. At the very least, Dexit didn't turn out to be another round of total Kanto-pandering like I was expecting. If I remember the numbers I've seen floating around right, Generation V actually got the most representation. My favorite Pokemon, Scraggy, made it in, but a lot of my other favorites didn't make the cut. (R.I.P. Poliwhirl, Ampharos, Honchkrow, Clawitzer...) At this point though, I've more or less reached the "acceptance" phase of grief... On a lighter note, I am slightly disappointed that there's no Galarian Swellow carrying an Exeggcute.

Ah, by "no spoilers for new Pokemon", I meant that new Pokemon designs are not shown. I've now edited my post to better reflect that!
