I can't read cue cards and I start fights! XD YAY!
... heeey ... just how did you know I'm slightly nearsighted, anyways? <.< ::hides glasses::
Lol, I took a guess.
Sorry for numbering part four part three. This is what happens when Eri doesn't get enough sleep.
Also apologies for the long wait. Without any further ado...
Part Numero Cinco
The battle only took about ten minutes. We watched happily as Linny punted the last one down the street. “And stay out!” Tracy cried, raising a victorious fist and shaking it in the air a few times. The battle scarred and ego bruised Regs scuttled away, throwing us nasty looks over their shoulders. One started back but Spot let out a snarl and the boy continued out, following his beaten clan.
“Nothing could make this moment better!” I shouted with a smile as I wiped grime of my katana blade.
“This could.” Nick said, leaning over and giving me a kiss. There was a low, “oooh!” from the crowd of onlookers.
“Hey you two, get a room or something.” Kat teased. “But no, Eri’s right, nothing could make this better.”
“You sure about that?” someone said. Everyone gazed up the alleyway. There stood a silhouette of a woman, twirling a set of keys around her index finger. She stepped closer – it was Pat, and the keys were undoubtedly the keys to our favorite place on Neopia…the NTWF.
With a whoop we cheered and dance, and then sprinted for the Catacombs. Pat made her way to the front and unlocked the door. Everyone cheered, yet no one moved to enter. We all stood for a second, taking in all of the emotion, the intense feeling of joy. There was silence for a second, but the moment was pierced by a loud cry. We all looked over at Rachel, who was dry eyed.
“It wasn’t me!” she cried. Suddenly everyone’s gaze fell on Mindela, who was bouncing her crying toddler.
“’Scuse me, but can we get in there please?” she said. “I have a spare bottle in the Snow Fridge and this one needs it.”
There was a chuckle, and Pat happily unlocked the door and threw it opened. A cheer emitted from the crowd and a few people began to trickle inside. But most of us stayed outside. Ishmale took Squiesh’s hand and they started over to a desolate corner, where he began to talk softly to her. There was a soft, “aww” as we watched.
Luckeek and Carrie were chasing after a frightened butterfly. Suddenly, Crystal approached Carrie and tapped her on the shoulder. Crystal said something and rolled her eyes jokingly as she handed the girl a bottle of rum. Kiddo was talking with Linny, smiling a little bit as the girl jumped around wildly, probably retelling the story of the alleyway victory. Suddenly, she grabbed Patrick and demonstrated the karate move she had used on a Regular.
Spot had her glasses on and was sitting under a tree, snuggling in Stal’s arms, reading something aloud. “Hey Spot!” Kittygirl called. “What are you reading?”
Spot smiled. “The Neopian Times, of course!” she cried, waving the new issue above her head like a victory flag. Several members rushed over, clambering over Spot and Stal trying to read the printed words.
I sat in the very middle of it all, with Kat. The sun was slipped down below the green hills, and its rays of pink, orange, and red spread out like a quilt. “Well,” Kat said, “I do believe that we have survived a day without the NTWF.”
I nodded, and all of a sudden music filled the fields surrounding the Catacombs:
I see skies of blue and clouds of white,
The bright blessed day and the dark sacred night,
and I think to myself what a wonderful world.
Ery was standing on LOTF’s shoulders, adjusting the speakers on the Catacomb walls. “It fit the moment!” he called out, and Kat and I began to laugh.
Fewer and fewer people remained outside, and as darkness set across the land many moved inside. Finally Kat said, “C’mon Eri, let’s go in.”
“Hold on a second,” I said, “I think you’re forgetting about some people…” I turned and motioned to the frozen Rider, NSQ, and Ginger. Kat sighed, and suddenly someone flew past me – Nick.
“ByeEriandKatseeyouinthemorning!” he yelped as he raced for his room. A peal of laughter broke out between Kat and I as she unfroze our friends.
“BATHROOM!” screamed NSQ as she ran.
Ginger sat, scratching her nose. “Kat,” she said, “you have a five second head start. Start running!”
With a little shriek Kat took off, leaving me and Rider alone in the darkness.
“Where’s my shield?” she yelled. “I’m going to kill that dog!” She grabbed the shield, which was sitting next to a rock, running her hand across the surface. “It’s all banged up!” she squealed. “Eri, what in the world happened?” she cried, examining her precious metal.
“Well Rider, that’s a long story…"
