Grah...my Draik Day picture didn't make it...do you know how long it took me to complete that picture? At least a week...I suppose I had better face facts. TNT thinks my art is rubbish.

Ginger, they do not think that. Keep working at it. If I could, I would reach through my screen and give the AG judges a good thwack. But I can't. Prove your idea of what TNT is saying wrong and keep working for it.

Well, Ginger, did you fix the nose problem like we said? And the hair?

Ginger, perhaps you could try going an entirely new directio with your art? And I have the same question as Komori.

Well, Ginger, did you fix the nose problem like we said? And the hair? No. To be honest, I've been working on my other entries because time just seems to be going so fast just lately and I worry that I'm not going to be able to finish my pictures in time.

Maybe it'll be faster and easier to work on your pictures once you've got your marker pen and scanner :/ Picasso did make a point that if you spend too much time on a picture, it will end up flat and lifeless... a phenomenon I'm aaalll too familiar with myself I'm not sure what you mean by going into an entirely new direction, jillian - but Ginger, it would help and be fun if you tried out many more different styles as opposed to sticking to one most of the time. Browse around places like the BC and deviantart and you'll find many different styles to experiment with. It can't hurt to try :3 And I greatly reccomend you try doing lots of quick, light, pencil sketches before you start on your final piece. Or even if they have nothing to do with your final piece. I say this because your shading and compositions are improving greatly, but you still need work on the sketch. Relax, don't cramp up and focus too much on details, just get the main shapes in before you start to fuss. Maybe even hold the pencil as if its a fencing foil, so it's really loose and flows across the paper smoothly ^^ But I may be wrong, I may be completely wrong in my ramblings here. All I can say is that it seems to have worked for me. I often do a sketch before I go to sleep. I doodle relentlessly in the margins of my Maths work. I've stopped playing computer games at lunchtimes so I can draw and shade my heart out (and it's more fun). So yeah, do quick little doodles whenever you get the chance. You won't see the improvements immediately, but in the long term, practising every day is hugely beneficial. AutoC - wow, I really like the atmosphere of it o: the colours in the sky are real spiff, the white glow in the eyes are a little harsh but that's me nitpicking. Very well done! I wish I could do something for Poogle day, but I'll be away in China and not have a means to submit it on time :K ... and.... *pokes link in sig ever-so-slightly*

What I meant was that she should try to experiment with a new style. ^^

Well, I don't think you need to be making a new picture for every single pet day or special day that comes up. Maybe if you slow down and do one every other pet day, maybe that'll be better. For one, it'll allow you to actually act on some of the advice that the people on this thread give you. And secondly, perhaps you won't be as stressed out when a piece doesn't make it in.

Today I decided to attempt a picture for the AG, didn't turn out great, but I thought I would ask some of you for some advice on it and maybe try and improve it even if I never enter it. I know it is messy, that is mainly due to me trying to layer on a picture I drew a while ago. i101.photobucket.com/albums/m57/Zavlia/welcome.gif Linked as it is a bit big... All advice is welcome as I really want to improve so it is at least minimum AG standard ^^ I used Coral Paint 2 for this.

Yeah I agree with Komori. If I had to do a pic for every special day out there I would never be able to produce anything of very high quality. But I'm also lazy and have a lot to do anyway.

That's what I'm not going to do. I won't submit for every pet day. I'll miss out the chocolate ball and do Poogle Day instead. I won't do the Gormball one either. I'll miss out on the pets I don't feel like drawing and only draw for ones that I know I can draw well. Thanks guys
