*tries to glare at her braces* *doesn't work* *grabs a mirror and glares at bared teeth* Umm...yeah. I have them, both bottom and top, and I hate them with a passion. Sometimes it feels like I'm teething again because of them, and I need to gnaw on things. O.o They also make brushing your teeth really hard. You can't get in all the little crevices, even with floss and the tiny little Christmas-tree brush that they give you. I get them off this summer (if everything goes to their little plot to take over the orthodontic world....), which is a good time to get them off--right before high school. Fairly good timing, I guess. Unfortunately, I really, really need them. I've got twisted teeth and I had a third front tooth coming in behind my other two. Pretty scary. That at least is straightened out, now, and I'm doing well, apparently. I had to wear a retainer for about ten weeks one summer in order not to bite down on that tooth anymore; it was while it was moving forward. I guess it was a miracle that I didn't destroy the tooth from biting down on it all my life. It kept the side teeth from hitting each other when biting down, which isn't a good thing. That's all fixed now, anyway.... I hated the retainer, though. It was uncomfortable for a while, but I kept playing with it with my tongue whenever I was bored, so it had some advantage. ;D When I got it out again, I kept trying to play with it unconciously. Kind of funny. I had to wear the thing while eating, though, and it gave me an odd sort of lisp. When you first get braces, it takes an hour to eat one small piece of pizza, it hurts so much. Stick to applesauce and yogurt for a day or two. Good luck.

When I get my rubber bands change... when they finish... it hurts like heck. o.O I can barely chew my breakfast/lunch/dinner afterwards, for a few days T_T So I really dislike that...
I dunno when I'm getting my retainer; my sister was supposed to get her's last August, but that never happened. The orthodontic world sometimes is very strange to me. -nods- Very strange...
I was the 3rd person to get braces at me school o.O I think...

I used to have a linguire arch to seperate my teeth so the last of my permanant teeth could grow in. I had it taken out for months now. I HOPEFULLY don't have to get braces!

Even though my bottom teeth need it, I refuse to get braces. I don't want the time waste, trouble, PAIN... it'll take ANYONE a looooong time to open my mouth when I want it shut. And if they open it, it immediatly snaps back shut, maybe biting someone. I am NOT getting braces without a fight.

Believe me, Teghan, if you need braces, GET THEM. My mom needed braces but never got them, and she has so many problems with her teeth (she's had to have several pulled because they had such bad cavities, and she's had about a billion root canals) it isn't anywhere near funny.
*pokes her own teeth* My dentist says I won't get them; there are one or two minorly misaligned ones, but my teeth aren't strong enough. They'd just break. They decalcified or something because I used to drink a ton of sugary soda. (I still drink a ton of soda, but sugar-free/diet now...^^) Li'l Sis is probably going to have them soon; her teeth are spaced oddly, so there are some that can't come in and there are gaps between some of her teeth....

Most tooth problems are hereditary. Unfortunately, BOTH of my parents had braces...both of them had them TWICE. Hehe, I have already had the first go-round....*cowers at the memory* But in a way I am lucky...my orthodontist isn't scary. Half the kids in my school that have braces got them from him and they all agree he is the coolest guy yet. His name is Dr. Jorgenson, and there are always really cool decorations everywhere. For summer, they have a whole bunch of blow up water stuff hung from the ceiling and you can win them. I haven't yet, but it is still pretty cool. And he's really funny, too. he made the whole braces process a little easier. And another good thing, too, is that for my second round of braces which I will need to have in high school (don't pity me yet...there's a good ending ) might be INVISIBLE! Yes, the clear plastic ones! *cheers* WHEEEEEEEEEEEE! I play with my permanent retainer all the time...my tongue has a groove in it now ;D Anyway, *ahem* braces suck...that is all

My teeth have very thin enamel on them. That makes it so the teeth are smaller, and yellow in color. Since they are smaller, they all came in crooked (both 1st and 2nd times). Unfortunately, there are only 2 points in my mouth that the teeth actually touch each other, making it harder to chew food. My dentist says I really need braces. Another unfortunate thing is that my parents don't bring in enough money for me to get braces, unless they take some money out of my college money. This means I'll have to get a summer job for the few years in High School that I have left. I have to get a scholarship no matter what, though... Ugg. It looks like I will be getting braces sometime soon... Better start looking for that summer job...
